China is so underrated for holidaying for westerners. So happy you are doing this video. The ski resorts in Jilin are going to take off in no time!
China is too big. For European countries, the inter-provincial distance in China is far greater than that in Europe, and the cultural differences and changes are also far greater than in Europe. The so-called foreign tourism in Europe is nothing compared with China's inter-provincial tourism.

China is amazing but still very inaccessible for westerners. Your bank cards don’t work, credit cards aren’t accepted and even trying to use cash is problematic. If you’re not set up on wechat, which virtually impossible for foreigners, it’s extremely hard to do anything in China.

At the beginning, the way the film was cut makes us feel Derk was in the pool and Derk was on a chaise at the same time. Amy had a good time in Sanya! The food and the party is 888 RMB (132 USD) each! Wow, very lucky number! Oh, seeing yourself on a magazine must feel good, for real!

China may be troublesome sometimes...but most of the time, it's heaven! Sanya is also my favorite vacation place!

Hi Blondie in China, I wish you could do a video on how to enjoy China for foreigners who only go there for a short trip. Such as accessing the Internet, pay for things, booking tickets, etc.

so glad you can travel to the most beautiful city in China after suffering from Covid. I bet when you were sick, you must be like I would go to beach when I feel better and eat as much as food I could.
I have not seen your update for some time, I had thought about you might have caught Covid since you ate out a lot. It is almost impossible to escape Covid infection . But good to see you recovered and enjoying yourself。

I can absolutely sympathise with you guys getting covid for xmas the same thing happened for me and my wife and almost the same way I got it in a mild form and my other half felt like she had been hit by a runaway truck anyway glad to see you guys are back on form looking forward to seeing more of your China adventures in 23 !

Take it easy with physical activities during recovery. Sanya is quite pricey compared with the rest of China. Lots of Dongbeiers bought properties in Hainan to escape the bitter winter cold. Kind of like New Englanders stay at Florida during cold seasons. I have the same "Don't waste room on veggies" mentality😃. Always take some digestive enzymes if you are not sure whether the foods contain milk products.

The problem of buffet: once you get the weight on, possibly in just a few days, they don't go away. You may need another 10 years to lose the weight.

You should go to Xiao dong hai Beach, Da dong hai Beach, Yalong Bay, Dai dai Island, Wu zhi zhou Island and West Island in Sanya.

I honestly think the buffet is totally worth of the price. It is very international, Japanese Sashimi and Sushi, Australian roast lamb chop, Italian pasta with fresh lobsters, Chinese roast goose, duck and chicken. Plus the setting is a private dining room and rooftop dance party overlooking the tropical ocean. I can bet in Chinese New Year, the same buffet can fetch higher prices when more people recovered and ready to catch some lost good time. - I hope Derek ate much more than salads 😅
She became a true Chinese person when she said "don't waste room on vegetables!"

The mango reminds me a little of the fruit salads that are sold by street vendors all over Mexico, flavored with lime juice and Tajín (a blend of chile powder, dehydrated lime juice, and salt). It's a similar combination of sour and spicy.

I’ve had them! I live in a Mexican neighborhood in NY, and I have them often in warmer time of the year from street vendors. I was skeptical at first but fell in love, end up buying them whenever I see them offered ❤

Wow, I am from M'sia . Have not been to Sanya yet. Just nice you can share on the beach, hotel dinner and party activities amongst the expats community during New Year's eve. Indeed, China has lots to offer as per the other big cities and countrysides. Hope to be in Hainan Island soon. Great vlog. Keep it up!

China is so big, has different landscapes, northern and western part has minus 20 during the day, in Sanya plus 20 degree during day. Derk has said, you take the flight 5 hours to Sanya but you are still in China.
11:05 In the Philippines it is popular and you eat it with shrimp paste (Bagoong) and sometimes a bit chili.
It is very interesting to see how Hainan specialties are southeast asian specialities as well.. I think I heard that quite a lot people who emigrated from there and other typical former emigration regions of China, are remigrated back to here, Hainan, and brought those treats with them.. Or maybe some of them of course brought their stuff to southeast asia in the beginning.. I think its a mix of both.. At least the mentality, culture and other stuff I saw in Hainan has a lot of southeast asian vibes

Have been to Sanya more than 30 times, never got bored. Yalong bay has best beach in Sanya, newest hotels are in Haitang bay and sun bay.

Hello! Hello! It’s great to see your new adventure, after being caught up with your videos
Such a lovely video, we went from Shanghai to Sanya on the 24th, and yes just recovered from covid. Stayed in Yalong Bay Sheraton, terrible food. However the food outside was out standing, we ate soo much. Went Houhai as well as we met up with a friend there and stayed for the day. Went diving in the main Aquarium at Atlantis one day which was great. It was nice to see you with all your mixture of friends, thats what I love about Shanghai, its such a melting pot, however this year we hade no xmas and no new year party, as all of our friends have left China for good, we are the only ones left now. We ended up having a Wechat group video call on NYE. And yer the Buffets at the resorts are crazy prices, even during the week. Best food we had was at a Hainan restaurant in the Marriot Resort, Thai, out near the supermarket as well as Korean BBQ, but the Hainan chicken had me hooked. After having Covid the week before we traveled and then a week in the sun, it was really a good way to recover, we both feel great now. Roll on the end of Feb and off to Thailand for some more sun, feels so great to be open again, people are happy and optimistic now, I am loving China again.

FYI, I recently found out the Crocs and be shrunk and stretched. When heated the material becomes pliable and you can stretch to make it bigger and fit better. There are DIY blogs for how to do this.

People forget before Covid, cold and flu were part of normal winter inconveniences. Like cold and flu, Covid is not going to go away and people will just have to accept its presence and take the same precautions as they do against catching cold and flu, above all stay fit and healthy.
Thanks for excellent vlog! I quite often been to sanya when I am in china. I suggest Clearwater Bay(Qing shui bay) which is in the rural area of sanya. cuz much less people there in the beach of Clearwater Bay 😂, only natural coast , and it is more beautiful than the Bays in city centre. Also, the Raffles Hotel in Clearwater Bay is fantastic, you can try it next time haha

Go for the small ones so you don't choke.
My first New Year's in Spain, I just about choked trying to stuff and eat all 12 by the stroke of midnight.

there's your favourite 四果汤 in Sanya too, go by the name of 清补凉. slightly different but I consider they are same type of sweet snack/drink

Not expensive at all, Las Vegas is a few times more and a Halloween party in LA cost like $200 to $300 with less food and drinks, US dollar I’m talking about, I will target going to China for New Year’s party for me next year!!

The seafood in all form is a must try there.
Also lactose intolerant, found out recently that butter is very low in lactose due to it mainly being fat- so I can eat it, which makes me very happy!

Hey, it’s so glad to see u enjoying your trip in Sanya, and just for your safety and a bit of more info, it’s not really recommended to get a ear cleaning service anywhere else other than hospital (for people who have the wet type of earwax or stacking too much), normally the earwax will move itself out when chewing and speaking, and actually they could protect your ear along with other things on skin to some extent
