- Is it safe to travel to St. Croix? This week we're flying to St. Croix in the USVI's. This island was hard-hit by hurricane Maria in 2017 and now hasn't seen many tourists in months. We're continuing to explore safe travel in 2021.

I really don't like any of the videos specifically on St Croix, I grew up there and went through Hugo, '89. And other horrible storms. Hail from the NW of the island and drink beers at Consumers Gas Station

Great video...as always! I did a trip from Boston to New York last August. I stayed in Times Sq. for a night and then went up to New Paltz for a couple of days where I spent a day hiking and lunching at Mohonk Mountain House, an amazing place that I highly recommend. So I agree, travel is definitely necessary when you can do it safely. A lot of folks rely on it to make a living. Keep doing what you do and stay safe out there.

For some (like myself) traveling is the only thing that give us purpose (im single .. no kids no pets) all I do is keep healthy, work and go to an awesome place every 2 or 3 months!! I visited Mexico 5 times last year and it was soo amazing every single trip !! Some criticized me for traveling during a pandemic but it was the only way to keep me Sane!! !!

St. Croix is our favorite place. We go every year! So underrated in my opinion, and the locals are wonderful people.

I live here glad we are basically back to normal since the hurricane, I love living here it’s just a different vibe than living in America however I still like to u kno vacation in America as well lol, our COVID cases are pretty low here
Do I need to rent a vehicle or will public transportation do?
@@Dayzi12 You need a vehicle or to take a cab. Public transport is virtually non-existent. If you do drive, two things: You drive on the left, even though the cars are left-hand drive (makes it interesting to say the least) and the potholes are big enough to swallow a SmartCar, so do be careful!

One of the places I would like to visit! Made it to cabo 3 days ago. Did a drive thru co vid test in wisc before i left just to be sure so i was safe. I love how you show travel can be done safely

We are currently traveling the world and documenting it. We are traveling as safe as possible but we really want to see the world. If we have to take a covid test every 2 weeks so be it. We have so much to learn and have already grown so much from our short time seeing the world. If we wait until "everything is back to normal" we may not be in a place in our lives when we can still travel. Stay safe and enjoy being Tripped!

I spent 13 weeks on St. Croix in 2017 and '18, helping it recover from TWO hurricanes in rapid succession: Irma AND Maria. Lovely people, some beautiful places, but a fair bit of poverty and joblessness, even before the hurricanes.

In the last three months we have been to over 15 states in the US, and now were are spending 6 months in Mexico, then Belize, etc... and no COVID....weird.
On my list of places to go before I die; because I loved the movie "Trading Places" and this is where they went for the end shot... "LOOKING GOOD BILLY RAY!!"
Croix, is growing in popularity as a cruise port. Its restaurants are well worth a visit for land travelers, too. a nesting ground for endangered sea turtles. A day sail to beautiful Buck Island Reef National Monument is a must.
Wow, the place you are staying looks magical. That's an interesting point about international travel with those restrictions perhaps being safer than in country travel. Love seeing it from your perspective.

Guys, If you can travel i say more power to you....ignore the critics. Being paid to travel has got to be the best. We have been to STX are couple times (Wife did design work for a customer) and really loved it. The place you are staying is beautiful and looks like a great location. The Islands would be a great place to try your hand at sailing again. Sail to Buck Island. It has the largest underwater national park. A great snorkeling spot... Enjoy!!

My in laws just had a whole ordeal with airline travel and their 70lb lab and cat. They moved from PR up here to MT and it was easily 3w of stress, tons of calls and changes. They ended up with 2 flights booked the same day, but only using one, borrowing and mailing back a carrier from their vet bc the airline changed the crate restrictions days before (cost $1000 to send the crate back), and taking 16 hours to go from sju to mia from drop off to pick up. Worth it, but boy it was intense.

That's the fred hotel in stcroix usvi ...I'm absolutely crazy about it..I rented a room there..so nice...its right next to the road and restuarant and the beach good heavens!.. fabulous

HI T&F...family and I were just there two weeks ago and loved it. The wife and I are going back in June and looking at real estate. Personally it took a couple days to find our fun but when we discovered Fredricksted and the beach to north of the pier I really fell in love. Have a good one!

Tim and Fin, just found out we have been invited to an all inclusive in Cancun. My Daughter is getting married in May and was going to Bali but because of restrictions has changed their plans. They have now asked family members from both sides to join them in Mexico for a long after wedding celebration. They still plan to go to Bali. You guys were just there are there any restrictions, tests, etc i should know to get ready to go.

What kind of cell phone service did you guys use when on the island?
I am from Ottawa, Canada. I cancelled my trip to Mexico. From now on, when returning to Canada, even if you had a previous negative test, you will have to spend 3 days in a designated hotel at your cost ( $2000 ) until you get your result back Then you will have to quarantine at home.
Fabulous that Canada is stepping things up, in addition to keeping border shut and
cruiseships out until 2022. Of course with the increasing types of variants landing
and not having appropriate amounts of varied virus vaccinations established by the
federal government makes this time of more measures a critical component for the
population.

@ 4:00 - within the last 2 weeks USVI updated requirements to must TAKE and recieve test results within 5 days. Changed from must receive negative results to must take and receive results in 5 days.

@0:05 Cottages by The Sea , just stayed there and recommend it. Very low key and welcoming with an amazing beach and snorkeling. Fredriksted may not be everyone's cup of tea overall, bit I like it there. I've also stayed at the Fred, but just after they took over and during it's renovation and it was nice as well.
I stayed in cottages too..right on the beach lol..wow..I love fredericksted I love driving the complete shoreline..so cute and I was at the fred Christmas day!

Wow, you have an editor now?? You guys are big time! I can say I started watching you when... I don't get the travel shaming thing. We are full time travelers. Yup! We have no home in the states to go back to and our insurance only allows us limited time there. So we have to travel from country to country on the tourist visa. It's been an interesting year for travel. We recently went from the UK to Mexico (they were the only ones open to us) and will stay here until our visa runs out. Hopefully the vaccines will kick in and more will open up to us.
We were meeting a lot of people in your same position in Mexico! So glad it stayed open.
