    In 1998 Wales lost 98-13 to the Springboks. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say THAT was probably the worst Welsh team

    • @hughphillips5129

      Could see a similar result

    • @randomlyfactual1943

      I would concur.
      Also those 98 Boks were absolutely brilliant

      Yeah that was worse than this squad.

    Never write of a Wales rugby team...

    No it’s not the weakest Wales team ever. Someone of us remember Welsh rugby in the 90s!

  • @LeonRamkumar
    @LeonRamkumar Месяц назад +13

    I don't think this is a done deal by any stretch. Lots of new talent in the squad though, so I'm excited. I'm sure the Welsh will be itching to put in a big shift as well!

    Why do always play Wales outside the test window? That really is a pity because Boks vs Wales is almost always a fantastic game.

    As a Bok fan I never like to be labelled favourites, this could be a close game. In saying that I hope we actually play this season as world champs and actually perform consistently.

    This will be closer than most think. Wales always raise their game against South Africa. The Boks needs to be focussed or they could loose this one.

    None of those wales players would make a Springbok team even if the first second and third options for the Springboks were unavailable. Wales are look at a 50+ point thrashing.

  • @randomlyfactual1943
    @randomlyfactual1943 Месяц назад +1

    No disrespect to Roos, but the next big thing on Number 8 is going to be Cameron Hanekom.
    Also, Frans Malherbe can make a strong case to be the greatest tighthead in the history of the game and Vincent Koch is just about equal to him. And as we all know, tightheads win matches.

    Wales are going to surprise us this weekend. They have certain advantages such as unknown, to us, players making for unpredictability along with the fact they have nothing to lose. They're tough Welsh boys who will be reminded of the proud Wales rugby traditions and will lift their game Saturday. As a Springboks supporter I'm keeping a careful eye on Wales.

    The Wales pack is really weak compared to the Boks, so it might be a long afternoon with many scrum penalties against them. I can't even see them do anything with the backline. Would love to see what game plan they opt for

    The Welsh always seem to pitch up against the Boks, especially in the last 20 years or so. The Boks will be rusty and historically take time to get into their stride at the start of the season

    Guys do not end with egg on your face on Saturday. Both teams have 15 players and 80 minutes on the park, neutral grounds (even though closer to home for Wales), It is a 50/50 for both teams no matter who you favour.....

  • @DanielMobey

  • @evanh8749
    @evanh8749 Месяц назад

    I'm think this will be close for the first 30min. Springboks will be Rusty, Welsh will be very raw, both will be physical. Every minute after that i see the Springboks start to pull away on the scoreboard.
    On paper a good preparation match for Springboks, and a great measuring stick for the young Welsh players.

    I think it'll be close for most of the match. SA sometimes are rusty starting international campaigns. If the Welsh can hang in there for 60mins, then they might have enough fire to keep the game close. That said, if they allow the Springboks a couple early and easy tries, it could be a long day.

    You’d have to be a particular type of masochistic optimist, to travel all the way to HQ and pay to support this third (?) string wales team against SA. What on earth is rugby up to, serving up mismatches like this and expecting to grow the game.

    I hate to say it, but I can see that SA pumping Wales for 50. HOWEVER the main trait of Wales is that they can be incredibly...jammy. And by that I mean they can have a good habit of just sticking onto you and riding their luck, but I honestly can't see it

    Wales have absolutely nothing to lose and everyone writes them off. Nice pep talk being done by all and sundry for them ahead of the game. The Boks will have one eye on the Ireland series so I think the Boks will struggle more than people anticipate.

  • @spud7823

    This praising of South Africa is going overboard, 2 of their sides never qualified for the last eight, the Bulls are the flag bearers, the ospreys showed how to deal with these big forwards, dispatching 4 of their big teams, the altitude beat them against the Bulls after they beat the Stormers previous week, that's with young players and a long injury list, this may not be the cake walk people think, world cup winners never seem to perform to well after, and when did Wales have regional teams that were world beaters, enlighten me, ospreys are flag bearers and Cardiff who accumulated most bonus points in the URC are improving, with young squads and tight budgets. Rather than go bust it's better to cut your cloth and reorganize, last time Gatland threw a team together before the WC they beat England and should have won in Twickenham, Wales are in a experiment phase, with 7 locks not available, and a players sidelined, the depth is building, Wales done well in the last WC I feel the nuts and bolts are coming together, this tour and a autumn series will give invaluable experience, and that's what's happening.

    Yes that is the weakest welsh team ive seen and given boks team selection? Reality is this has potential for 60 plus points due to the juggernaut that is boks pack which i think will dismantle inexperienced welsh pack comfortably.. etzebeth has more caps than the entire welsh pack alone.. positives for wales exposure for those players at this levrl agsins number 1 tesm in the world and just go out there and give zero fks for who they are playinget amongst them and bring some pride and violence for the red jersey cos no one expects anythjng less than a hiding for Wales so no pressure...
