Amen to that! What’s even worse, is that people are going to be attaching these, to those $15 Chinese angle grinders. They don’t have a trigger switch, like his Milwaukee does. They use a locking slide switch. When it inevitably kicks back, it will just keep on running at full speed. Who the hell thought that this was a good idea? Weren’t the chain disks dangerous enough, already?
I never thought that I’d see the day, when they’d sell something, even more dangerous than the ‘Roto Stripper’. Does anyone else remember those? (If you don’t, just Google it.) The metal rods break off and imbed themselves in people. Believe it or not, they STILL sell them! These companies are keeping Darwin busy. 😂
And with the added feature of possibly coming apart mid rev and giving your arms a good “lashing”.
I mean, a chainsaw doesn't have very many safety features. A chain brake is about it, which none of my older chainsaw's have anyway.
Anyway, you are right this thing is a hazard, especially the way it just falls apart, not to mention the way that you have to hold it.

This was one of the first time I was genuinely concerned for Tyler's safety. That chainsaw grinding disc scared the crap outta me. Every time it kicked my heart skipped a beat, I was watching through my fingers like a horror movie. That thing is super dangerous and seriously should go straight in the garbage.
I dislike grinders in general because I am always scared of the kickback. Might be a good tool for the zombie apocalypse but still, a chainsaw would be better.

@@MrJames_Bondage Yeah for sure, the chainsaw adaptor isn't all that dangerous (aside from the spontaneous disassembly) as it doesn't really have the power or the length to put you at much risk from kickback unless you try something dumb like a plunge cut but those chainsaw disks are sketchy at best. They have their uses but they're like the nitroglycerin of explosives, even if you're careful you're never far from harm
The black ring I think is supposed go between the clamp and grinder to dampen the vibrations
also add extra grip between metal surfaces.

Man with experience of logging and been using chainsaws daily for years , you have made me incredibly scared for your well being !
Tyler is the king of doing super dangerous things without much safety measures in place (if any). Like when he connected hundreds of 9V batteries together and was shocking things with it. Multiple times he leaned over the bank of batteries touching a bunch of them.
His videos are entertaining, I just hope he stays safe.

Ok so the grinding disc isn’t meant to cut, it’s a tool used for sculpting wood, and more precisely to remove a lot of material fast, you need to use it with the spare handle , and you use the same motions as when you clean up steel welds ! I hope it helps ppl understand it’s purpuce :)
The combination of Tyler and this contraption is like what you'd get if you ordered Leatherface off Wish.
This is probably the most anxiety I've felt during one of these videos. The chainsaw disc is so dangerous, I'm pretty sure it's outright illegal in a bunch of places, and you can very easily tell why in the video, it has a lot of kickback, one tiny mistake or slipup, and you'll find yourself with a disc embedded halfway through your forearm, stomach or leg.
All I know is that even if it's not actually illegal and I'm confusing it, I've seen quite a few experienced woodworkers who treat that chainsaw disc like the plague, and you should probably too! Lol.
Quick edit: I know grinder discs can be very dangerous as well, the difference is that regular discs are way more controllable, and in case of an accident, they'll just slice you up. The chainsaw not only has a lot of kickback, making it ridiculous to control, if you have an accident, it will literally chew up through your skin and get embedded, instead of just slicing. You can probably imagine why eviscerating your skin, muscle and even bone, and getting a disk stuck in it, is a lot worse than slicing with a normal disc.

Well said i am shocked how Tyler did not cut his body BUT CHEW his Body that is not meant to be cutting wood with it is for carve wood ONLY even carving wood with that chain disk is risky ar best
He didn't use the rubber fitting in the clamp area either.. I noticed that because it was sliding off way to fast

Always better to modify the cheaper of the two and not the other way around. Made many specialty tools out of cheap tools myself, which saves the expensive ones for warranty issues later.

You bought a smart angle grinder. It's got extra bumps and doodads that keep people from doing stupid things with it. An angle grinder is one of the most dangerous tools a layman can use. Never remove the guard and know what your discs are intended for.
Edit: after watching the Dremel, I think I should change this comment to say, grinder discs in general are dangerous if you're not careful. They spin FAST. If they break, they shatter. When they shatter, they throw shrapnel very fast and the guard plus eye protection will usually protect you enough. Just imagine a shard of cutoff wheel disc flying off at 8000 rpm and embedding into your neck, cutting into an artery. That's how you gain appreciation for angle grinder safety
Had a relo die on a roof from that very thing. My husband had a grinding disc shatter in a wheel arch once.( panel beater). He was lucky. It all missed his head.
I’ve seen what a fully shielded chopsaw blade can do to the arm of someone when it explodes. I was always paranoid when using them and because I was a welder, I always had my leather sleeves and weld helmet with built in grind shield on
I had to use an angle grinder for the first time in my life in a metal working arts class. I always wore both safety glasses and a full face shield because I was terrified of it shattering and hitting me in the face

That round "chainsaw" blade is basically for wood carving. I would have re-staked the teeth before using it. A flying tooth can ruin you, forever, depending on where it lands. I would also add some sort of guard. If your hand would slip down we could call you lefty.
Not that I'm defending him for using that disc in the first place, but in all fairness, he DID remove the pieces of the grinder where you were supposed to use to attach a guard, so it's not like he could've used one even if he wanted to.

Yes the black ring. Sometimes different angle grinders have different designs instead of modifying the angle grinder you need to redesign the bracket of the attachment in this case it is a chainsaw attachment

the disc with chain saw teeth is made for wood carving. and it also works great for pruning fingers.
and those companies don't make chain saw adaptors for grinders, because they make chain saws.
Harbor freight just came out with an attachment like that for a circular saw. You should definitely try it.

Hey, I don't know about you (well I guess I do lol) but I would much rather chop up the item that cost 30 or $40 versus the Milwaukee grinder that probably cost at least $100. You could have just notched the bracket and called it good.

The saw disk is mainly used for roughing out wooden Bowls.
Also for chair seats, benches and wood carving. Still dangerous if you end up grinding with the wrong side of the arc.

That second one reminds me of some hackery we did to put a small circular saw blade onto our grinders back when I was a welder. We used it to cut just the welds out of the sides of aluminum tankers and separate pieces for repair. It was super dangerous and I took a chunk out of my face shield with it once.

The grinder chainsaw wheel is used when doing wood carving (like the giant bears) and doing some small finishing work.

That chainsaw accessories for the grinder is a great proof of concept tbh but that grinding disc with chainsaw teeth on it gave me anxiety to the moon 💀
The grinder disk one is for wood carving. Harbor freight also makes a beam saw attachment. Its a chain saw basically.
There is a rubber gasket (bracket for a small arm) that fits around the grinder to make the tightening ring not over tighten and bend while giving it better grip so it does vibrate off.
Chain Saw Art. Idk if it's common everywhere but thats the reason for the chainsaw grinder disks. So you can get smal intricate patterns and sharp little cuts, like a bear or an eagle made from a tall tree stump.

The chainsaw disks are notorious for causing horrific injuries. Please be safe! Imagine it kicking, catching your shirt, wrapping it around the tool and locking your hands on the power button with a running chainsaw disk close to your neck and chest.
Those discs are for shaping wood, like a grinder.
They are sketchy af, but in skilled hands are the equivalent to a painter's brush.

I would have just notched the bracket. But that would have made too much sense. Flipping the clamp bracket to where the nub would be away from the grinder housing would have given you more surface to clamp on to but again that would have made too much sense also. Love the channel. Makes me laugh every single time.

The chainsaw attachment is great gift for a person ya don't like. Killer piece of equipment. The disc chainsaw is for sculpting work; quick removal of large unwanted wood on the workpiece. Please put the handle back on before sculpting though, to keep yer body intact. Richard Down Unda.
