I sort of disagree with your take on Pikmin 1's story. While the story seems simple, it is Olimar's reactions which makes the story of Pikmin 1 so compelling to me. The fact that he is fascinated and yet cautious of all the things that inhabit PNF-404, as well as his often reminiscence of his home really does make him such a charming character. Also, in your reasoning as to why Pikmin 3's story is better than Pikmin 2's, you make it sound like it's better because of the larger stakes. There are a lot of stories where the earth is going to explode or whatnot, yet most of them pale in comparison to stories that have seemingly lesser stakes like The Fault In Our Stars or Green Mile.
Yeah, I think the premise of Piknmin 1 is very compelling. You really feel isolated in that game. In all the other games, you have at least 1 companion and there are messages being sent or conversations being had on a regular basis. In Pikmin 1, Olimar is completely alone on an uncharted planet and no one knows where he is. All you have are his journal entries in which he talks bout the family he misses and the discoveries he's made. He's basically a truck driver but he approaches everything in a very scholarly way. There's something quietly heroic about his story. He doesn't panic. He just does what he can to carry on. The enemies you face in Pikmin 1 are also much tankier than in any other game, at least as far as I can remember. That, combined with the time limit, make the odds feel much more stacked against you. I agree with your point about Pikmin 3 vs 2. Bigger stakes don't always make a better story. Sometimes the smaller struggles faced by a few people can be much more compelling and grounded. I couldn't see how collecting juice on another planet was supposed to feed a dying world full of billions of people, but I could definitely see how a company could be dug out of massive debt by finding treasure.
In my opinion, Pikmin 3 does have the best story due to it being a good middle ground between the serious tone of the first and the goofy tone of the second while also having concrete stakes but I agree with your point on Pikmin’s story
It was the best in the series Pikmin 2 was the sequel to the original Pikmin, but, as they say, the sequel isn’t a good as the original. The soundtracks were great, especially The Perplexing Pool
I remember getting to an aquatic cave in 4 and saw a beachy backdrop and was like "its so flat this looks terrible" then i looked around and saw it was an aquarium and it was meant to look that way, it took my breath away.
This might be a hot take, but i actully like the aesthetics of Pikmin 3 better than 4. As great as 4 looks, the colors look overly-saturated, and a lot creatures and objects have this weird, almost plasticy look to them. Where as Pikmin 3's colors are a bit more subtle and natural. Plus much of Pikmin 4's levels feel like they have too much empty space, where as Pikmin 3's levels look more filled out. But I still agree that Pikmin 4 is the overall better game.
I don’t think that’s too hot a take. Pikmin 3 looks like it’s happening in a real world location. The environments are just gorgeous. The use of water, plants, lighting, etc are just amazing. Pikmin 4 looks good in a technical sense. But I think the art direction in part 3 is better.
100% agree. Was disappointed with pikmin 4s look even though it’s good. 3 looks real too, the water, trees, ground etc all look like real life (or at least a games version) where as 4 is just to cutesie. It looks good but I liked 3 a lot better, I felt it added to the atmosphere and made sense with the story
13:55 I don't really like the character creator much bc it doesn't give the person you play as any distinct personality... Olimar, Louie, and all the others had their charming personality, while the character creator is just so bland in my eyes. On the other hand, Oatchi is best doggo. No debating it.
While I do agree, I think the Recsue Corps pick up that slack. I like the lot of em Royally sucks you only play as Shepard and Colin in the PvP mode (seriously, why can't you play as Dingo? HE'S THE RANGER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.)
Facts. The character creator makes it feel like you play Zelda or Mario or any other Nintendo franchise with silent protagonist. It doesn’t feel like Pikmin anymore
@@OreganoParsleyyeah, it’s not even a reboot or anything, just a game exploring what would’ve happened if pikmin 1 continued off the bad ending in a different universe
@@squidfresh3082 I don’t know why people don’t get that. The only difference is the existence of moss. The thing with olimar knowing Louie is probably just for new players.
Soundtrack easily goes to pikmin 2. Not only are the soundtrack so good such as the boss theme, awakening wood, submerged castle, etc; but it also the soundtracks sound different when playing as louie giving them a completely new feel and tone. Something that none of the pikmin has done.
I completely get the "crash landing" theme being repetitive, but there's actually a pretty good theory that explains why, called the Umibozu Theory. Tho Olimar is just trying to go on vacations and ends up crashing again and again 😭
@@ollikokkonenIt's a theory that there's a force on PNF-404 (presumably the wraith creatures like the Plasm Wraith) that keeps causing shipwrecks, which would explain why there's so many of them. It's based of Japanese mythology, but I'm not the best at explaining it so I recommend googling it if you have the chance.
It’s an old Pikmin theory that states that the “wraith” creatures (Goolix, Waterwraith, Plasm Wraith) were following Olimar, and cause the crashes. It comes from the Japanese name of the Waterwraith, a combination of Amoeba and Umibōzo, a mythical Japanese sea monster that sinks ships. I don’t know the exact name of the video the theory is from, but you could probably find it if you tried.
Based on engines, it would be 3, 4, 2, 1 I hate the auto lock in Pikmin 4. Auto lock didn't exist in Pikmin 3 Wii U where I played it. I have no idea why my brain wants to hate Pikmin 3. Yes, it's easy, but it looks and plays great! I had so much fun playing it.
Honestly same 4s great but minor issues like the autolock keep me from liking it more than 3DX overall The autolock being so needlessly aggressive and unhelpful just made things frustrating at times
(my opinion) 4 just awesome 2 people didn't like the caves and difficulty but I loved it 1 love the 30 day time limit 3 it is good I just think the others have more going for it
I love how everyone didn’t like the caves in 2 but went 3 came out and was too easy, they were like, actually i didn’t hate the caves from 2 that much actually…
@@micflop3394 honestly 4 is for now peak pikmin, the only thing that the game needs is better co op and enemy respawn on the over world, for the caves, the first area introduces u to them and then expands on them with the bosses, with some unfair sub levels but also lots of fair ones
Pikmin 3 Deluxe is my favorite. I loved the effort it took to figure out how to 100% the game in the minimum number of days. It has the most replay value, too, IMHO. I’ve already completed Pikmin 4 100% 3 times, and the fact that the minimum number of days will always be huge, annoys me. The night excursions shouldn’t count as a whole day!
ima be bold and say that pikmin 1 on the gamecube is my absolute favourite in the series, it has so many underrated aspects. sure, the jank can be annoying but adapting to the jank and finding ways to combat it feels more rewarding than frustrating to me, and the difficulty is just perfect. the level design is also in my opinion the best in the series for how large yet tightly these levels are crafted, especially the forest navel gawd damn! on top of all of that, there is of course the subtly compelling narrative, the amazing open structure, great pikmin balancing and the 30 day time limit which is perfect for a series like this.
I am very new to the pikmin series I looked pikmin 1 and 3 gameplay, also some of 4 but then I stopped to not spoil myself everything since one day I wanna play it, and started pikmin 2 as my first pikmin game (probably also only; with 4 and the pikmin games that will come after, I didn’t love pikmin 1 and 3 so much) but the 2 looks really nice to me, I love exploring the word collecting all treasures but also mostly in the caves, also if the rng is a bit messy sometimes and sometimes morshu curses you with BOMBZ but I love it all, the challenge and… all lol Also Louie playable.
@@astrowastaken_2359 yes actually I don’t get why so much people consider it such a good game, sure it has still nice graphic (but I prefer the more cartoonish one of 4 for pikmin) the characters and “story” look still better and more detailed than 4’s (but I don’t know it all for 4) and sure it “relived” pikmin series after so much time after the second game, since between the first and second pikmin, only barely 3 years passed, but I think If I would have been a pikmin fan back then, I would have been much disappointed, also treasures are JUST fruits
@@corrin-1976As far as dandori goes, 3 has by far the most streamlined gameplay, being able to cycle through 3 captains on a pseudo-time limit is SO fun once you get into the whole thing-I don't have a favourite between the four games, but 3 is definitely my favourite as far as the RTS aspect goes Pikmin 1's can be very good for dandori as well, really honing in to get as many ship parts in a day as you can, but there's a drastic difference between the two games not ONLY in that you're reduced to just one captain, but ship parts also for the most part require a GOOD chunk of pikmin to carry, and more often than not you'll be inclined to stay with them to make sure they don't get screwed over Pikmin 2 and 4 bring you up to 2 captains, but also makes it almost null and void because there's no reason to exercise dandori outside of a few select castles, since the time limit doesn't mean anything with the existence of unlimited days
@@Miles_Edwards I can kinda understand and it seems to me you like much dandori about pikmin, which is good I mean it’s the main thing, with battles and treasures collection (which is more focused in 2) but as I said I watched a gameplay, don’t remember all the details, probably world was still funnier to explore than pikmin 2’s cuz it was a newer game of course, but at the same time idk, i remember bosses being very few,I can understand switching between 3 captains is fun, but you have less pikmin for each squad while i quite like having a lot of pikmin in one team, and the time limit in pikmin 3 is basically worthless too if you are only decent to find treausres, the guy I saw took something like 3 or 4 or 5 fruits a day, and it gave him… well nearly 5 or 6 days of time every day, it can be endearing at the beginning when you don’t have much, but basically even just after that it becomes worthless because you have so much time you can still take your time
I think the pikmin 4 soundtrack is only ok, but the post game goes so hard I think I just love pikmin 3 the most due to nostalgia but I think objectively pikmin 4 is the best
for ost i think pikmin 2 should win in my opinion, like i love how submerged castle works with its ost, giant breadbug theme is actually perfect and the fact that they make different themes for whats happening
Pikmin 4 is overall the best one so far, I only wish it had difficulty options and dare I say some of the Pikmin 2 chaos in the later caves. Pikmin 3 takes the crown for side content and Pikmin 1 for OST and atmosphere
Although I do think that 4 is the best, you’re not giving enough credit it to 2. It definitely has better characters than in 3 which is just my way of saying that I love the emails from the president
I love every game… but what holds back Pikmin 4 for being my favorite of the series is mostly the challenge (or lack there of). In an effort to make the game as accessible as possible, they’ve made the combat kind of automated. I’ve never had an easier time keeping my Pikmin alive. Even in part 3, I would lose Pikmin on occasion. But I literally only lost like 12 Pikmin in my entire playthrough in part 4. One thing that I love about this series is that each game has its positives and negatives. No one game outshines the others completely. The first game has the best vibe/story. Pikmin 2 has the most strategy/challenge (as long as you don’t cheese it with purple Pikmin). Part 3 is just gorgeous with really cool concepts (that, unfortunately, aren’t completely fulfilled). And Part 4 has the most ideas packed into the series. I liked both part 3 and 4 but I think I had “more fun” playing part 4. The GC versions feel like different games with their lack of lock on aiming. I’ll always have a soft spot for Pikmin 1 as it’s just so frickin’ charming. Plus, since it was mainly a proof of concept, it’s so endlessly replay-able.
If wasn't for some bigger flaws i cant look past (even outside of Oatchi the game feels very easy most of the time especially given overworld enemies never respawn, autolock just made the experience miserable at times for me, and im not super big on the 3 pikmin type limit on the overworld given Wings and Rocks are rarely useful thanks to that and being very limited until you find their repsective Onions), I'd say 4 But because of said flaws, I have to say I consider 3DX as the best game overall Also 4s music is just... incredibly hit or miss, which is deeply saddening to say considering 1-3 had greats OSTs
4 sometimes felt like it has a very “nintendo” philosophy, meaning that they didn’t want you to have fun if you weren’t having fun their way. they forced you into one control set with auto lock permanently enabled and the full motion aiming just completely removed. and you also can’t change your controls which is a feature every modern game should have. i don’t get how nintendo manages to screw up the most basic no-brainer things sometimes. 4 is an amazing game obviously but this stuff really frustrated me and significantly worsened my playthrough
2 is Peak-min, Music is better than in 1, since 1's music has akways felt off for me and not in a good way, aesthetically, Pikmin has a huge tonal shift between 1 & 2 and 3 & 4, with the later being a lot more clean and cutesy and the first being a lot more alien and bizarre, i very much preffer the first since it felt more unique than just another cutesy series while still having the cute factor simply not having it being the main appeal, so while the graphics are bastly and undeniably superior on 3 & 4, 3 at least feels pretty bland in terms of charm and overcharged in terms of visuals, 4 is definitelly an improvement and closer to 2's atmosphere, but the lower quality of the graphics in 2 manages to elevate the atmosphere to a degree that modern graphics cant hope to replicate. Gameplay wise i'd have to give it to Pikmin 2, since 1 is pretty much the same but with less stuff, 3 is piss easy and doesnt have the swarm mechanic, and 4 cant be played with point controls(wii controls) which are objectibly the best way to play pikmin. Characters i'd also give to Pikmin 2 since it handles them perfectly by giving them charm without needing to have them chat throught the entire game, the President is the main speaker in that game and he only does so in cutscenes while Olimar and Luie remain silent for the most part, making the President special, not to mention his whistle is unique, the shit talking only when it's neesary is very much appreciated, since i never enjoyed the Copai crew or the pikmin 4 crew chatting the entire fucking time or commenting on stuff that doesnt deserve it. the Piklopedia not only let's the best aspect of the series shine (the creature design and nature aspect of the series) but also develops the silent protagonists of the game by having us read Olimar's analitic biology notes or the notes on the treasures, but also having Luie talk about how to cook every living creature in game. That said it's clear pikmin 2 can stablish well it's characters and their charm without the need of the following title's unskipable dialogue. Enemies and creatures in general are also better in 2, Pikmin 3's new enemies are amazing, but the bosses fucking suck both in fights and designs, being the only exceptions the hairy long legs which is optional, and the very final boss, i cant comment much on PIkmin 4's bosses tho, but Pikmin 1 doesnt have enough to be in the discussion, PIkmin 2 has PLENTY and among those plenty there are some if not the most iconic in the series, that and the fact that combat is actually compelling in this game and not laughably easy, makes it ez to declare it the one with best bosses, enemies and creatures. Story-wise i would onl count 1 and 2, since 4 is a clusterfuck that has driven the community in a debate to see where the fuck does the game even fit or if it fits at all into the timneline, and 3, i simply didnt care for the Copai crew at all, the fruit is and feels like a mcguffin, since in Pikmin 1 the objective is simple and inmediate, so the stakes are clear, in Pikmin 2, we actually get to see Hocotate and what's left of the bussiness run by the President, so at least we know what we're dealing with, in Pikmin 3 we're just told that a planet we've never heard of needs us to pick up fruits, but there are never any stakes, juice is super ez to obtain and you can practically stay on pnf-404 forever without the game ever telling you about the people of Copai feeling an impact of this. kinda the same happens with Pikmin 4, sort of. i could go on but aint noboddy reading all this anyways so yeah, Peak-min 2 on top💪
My answer: They're all too different from each other to really have a "best." 1 is essentially a survival game, 2 is a dungeon crawler, 3 is a linear adventure, and 4 is a collectathon with dungeons and missions thrown in. They're easily the Nintendo games with the biggest and most consistent gameplay/style difference between them across the same franchise. BoTW/ToTK, Metroid Fusion, and Kid Icarus Uprising are radical departures from their predecessors, but those predecessors and every other Nintendo franchise are (basically) universally consistent. 2D Mario and Kirby are all linear platformers, Pokemon are all RPGs with the same formula, Smash is all platform fighters, Zelda is (was) always an action-adventure game, Metroid is always a Metroidvania (I wonder why?), F-Zero and Mario Kart are always hyper intense or fun racing games, etc. To compare the Pikmin games to each other is ultimately the greatest disservice one can do to these games, because ultimately, there's probably an infinite number of arguments for any game to be the best or "worst" depending on the standards we judge them by.
First of all, i think Pikmin 2's plot is better than 3's, even though 3's plot is on a larger scale of an entire planet in danger, they only TELL you its bad without showing the situation at all. In Pikmin 2, you actually see the company grounds in it's dry, empty and dire state. You actually see just how serious it is especially when the S.S. Dolphin, the ship you worked hard to fix in Pikmin 1, is almost immediately taken away to be sold to pay off the debt. Meanwhile in Pikmin 3 you are just Told that they're gonna starve, without being shown anything that shows how serious it is. Like a wise man once said: show, don't tell. Second of all, i think a game's replayability would be more important than it's runtime. Sure a game thats 12 hours to beat may be good, but a game that is 8 hours with players wanting to play it again would be better. So i was a little suprised that runtime took priority over replayability. Third, i'd personally not recommend Pikmin 4 if you're trying out pikmin for the first time. Pikmin 2 or 1 would be a great introduction to the game(Pikmin 3 if you want to go easy)
Pikmin 2 is the worst intrudotion Not everyone wants falling bomb rocks and super hard dificullty on their first game And story of pikmin 2 makes the "emotienal ending" of pikmin 1 almost pointless
Pikmin 1 has a very good soundtrack however for me it's the second game that I prefer for music. However pikmin 1 by far has the best charm to it and is probably the most emersive for that reason
Pikmin 2 Is definitely the best one to be honest. The only problems I really have with It Is that you don't spend much time In the overworld than In the caves but the overworld segments Is at least as much as Pikmin 1, Pikmin Balancing (Purples being too OP and Reds being redundant). Day Limit from Pikmin 1&3 barely even matters on repeat playthroughs tbh but I'd still be encouraged to go fast to make the most of my 13 & a half minutes per day.
Personal opinion. I'm not saying anyone's wrong, this is just preference: I have a hard time choosing from Pikmin 4's or 3's gameplay: On one hand 4 has Oatchi, and more mode variety in the campaign. On the other hand, Pikmin 3 has an amazing focus in multitasking with the three captains, the sectioned areas, it introduced the Charge mechanic, it introduced lock-on, it has a great co-op, and bosses in this game have the biggest scale and cinematic feel. Also, a very bad point against Pikmin 4 game play is the permanent non-toggable lock-on. For these reasons, I think Pikmin 4 and 3 stand at a very equal level in regards to gameplay; however, purely for personal taste, I prefer Pikmin 3 game play (specially because I can actually aim on my on). I also would've added a side-content category. To which I would've given to Pikmin 3. Pikmin 1: Challenge mode is just the same campaign areas, with the objective to grow as many Pikmin possible. Not bad, but not that interesting, you play them once and probably never again. Pikmin 2: Challenge mode is actually a set of interesting challenges in different caves l, with different Pikmin and resources. Really neat, but if you're not a Pikin 2 caves fan, then this mode becomes a hit or miss. VS mode, fighting for the marble is really fun and challenging; however, it was a mode with a lot of potential and room for improvement Pikmin 4: Dandridge battle. That's it. Basically, while not bad at all, it is a least fun version of Bingo battle. Although the luck factor is mostly gone, the stages aren't that great, the AI is a joke in terms of challenge, and against another player is fun, but not as fun as Bingo battle. Pikmin 3: For starters, mission mode has stunning stages that really challenge the players time and resource management, the stages have characteristics themes and gimmicks, you can compare your performance to the general results of others. Boss battles, good for practicing and then applying the faster strategies to beat records in the campaign, or just for the sake of beating the bosses again, not the best mode, but one that is appreciated to have. Olimar's campaigns, prologue, and epilogue that add on to the mission mode with more challenges that test strategy. Bingo battle. Easily the best multi-player mode of the series. You can seriously screw over your rival, but it isn't completely unfair if they are wary and react quickly, the Bingo mechanic makes it so any player can uniquely strategically choose their priorities, there are a lot of stages, each stage has unique gimmicks and fun designs. Overall it's the perfect battle mode for Pikmin. So, to me Pikmin 3 Deluxe is the best game of franchise. No shame to Pikmkn 4 or any other at all, but based on my preferences, quantity and quality of its content, Pikmin 3 takes the trophy home.
It’s not a reboot because the koppaites interact with him in extra story and it’s been 22 years since his first crash out of 5 he probably forgot from the amount of times he hit his head
I’d love to see another video dealing with “difficulty.” I personally feel Pikmin 2 is too brutal. The final caves make me want to throw my remote control and scream! It feels not just too difficult, but sometimes unfair. I’d love to hear what you and others think.
Pikmin 3's timer was so useless by the time I finished the game. I still had 40 days left in fact, I think the lowest I got was 3 days near the beginning.
(My personal take) Pikmin 3: Yeah, kind of a weird choice, but i just cant help but love it, the graphics are amazing, the stakes are high, the characters have good personalities, and, the ending...is just so mysterious, the plasm wraith is just...so weird...in an amazing way, and still to this day it is theorized what it is...if only Pikmin 4 was focused on the events after pikmin 3...instead of it retconning Pikmin 1-3... Pikmin 2: this game is very difficult, and i love it, and it Introduces Louie, the best villian in the series so far, just overall a great game Pikmin 1: Olimar has so much personality, and the stakes are REALLY HIGH, if you dont leave, you ARE GOING TO DIE PAINFULLY, Pikmin 4:...alot of what im about to say might be controversial...first...im not a fan of the graphics...they look...i dont know what it is, but it dosent look pikmin, and then we have the characters...flat as paper...and then...probably the most controversial opinion...Oatchi...i dont like this dog honestly, and i LOVE dogs, but this thing is way to overpowered! Like you could probably beat the game with just Oatchi, and because of him, THE PIKMIN ARE ENTIRELY SIDELINED, this dosent feel all that much like a pikmin game at all even! You dont have to worry about time, and you dont really have to care about your troops, because you have Oatchi!...sorry if i offended anyone...i felt it needed to be said...
My opinion is pkmin 2 is the best then 4 then 3 then 1 but we all know they are alll equally as good. Also idk why im angry but pikmin 1 is not a remastered its a re-release
I’ve not played Pikmin 1 or 2 but I have played 3 when I had no idea what to do I don’t remember it much but I have it on Wii U at least I think but Pikmin 4 is my favorite because it’s the only one I’ve beaten and that was days after getting it botw took me 5 years to beat Totk took me a little under a week so if I give Pikmin 3 a try then I’m pretty sure I’m going to like it and beat it
2>1>4>3. Simple is just better to me, the abundance of options in 3 and 4 should create more dynamic gameplay, but some of the options are so good they just trivialize the entire game
After letting the hype die down after beating 4 so i could look at it more critically, the flaws really started to stack up. Mainly in pikmin control and responsiveness. Being that that's the main part of the whole series, that's a pretty major blow just in its own. Though i love the lore setup and how it confirms some of my biggest wishes and theories for the continuity, it just falls short above the others, except 2, which is still solidly my favorite. Everything in that game just works together perfectly, and mods keep it infinite. Colossal caverns mod is peak infinite pikmin content. Every true fan needs to play that
personally for me it's a tie between 3 and 4, They both look great and they both have pretty funny main characters, even if 4's main characters are a little diluted by quantity. Also, could they really not be bothered to make the remakes of 1 and 2 have updated graphics? I get that they weren't wanting to make it a completely different game but come on, could have atleast updated the textures a little
For me the rankings are… 4. Pikmin 2 It’s good at the start, but it gets boring and repetitive once you get to the third area and is just a pain to play. I only kept playing since I wanted to beat the game. Caves are bad as well. 3. Pikmin 1 It’s a great game with a ton of flaws, but unlike Pikmin 2, it stays fun the whole way through. I adore the time limit as well. 2. Pikmin 4 Pikmin 2 but good is what Pikmin 4 could be called. It’s not repetitive and boring, and fun the whole way through. I dislike caves though, they’re just not as fun as exploring one big map. This may also sound dumb, but it felt too long. There’s only so many caves I actually want to play. 1. Pikmin 3 Not even a contest. The game is the best looking on the series, has an amazing soundtrack, the bosses feel dynamic and exciting, the adjustable time limit with the fruits is a great feature, and it doesn’t drag on for too long. Just a great game in general.
Om sorry but nothing is gonna change my mind, hey! Pik...wait sorry i mean pikmin 4, pikmin 4 is the best pikmin game there is 2 is close second but its always and forever gonna be pikmin 4 for me.
Pikmin 2 is the best, 1 is second. They just have a different more natural vibe, the fights are scarry, losing pikmin hurts so much more, they made the new ones all shiny and plastic. 3 bored me and I don't own 4 but ive played it a bit. probably 2, then 1, then 4, then 3 for me. Olimar and Louie are the best characters by a mile, I think Pikmin 1 is best soundtrack. Pikmin 4 probably is the best for gameplay, but Pikmin 2 has bulbmin... enough said
Hold up somethings weird here how does Pikmin take 8-9 hours to beat its 30, 13 minutes days make it 6.5 hours at most or if it's 15 minute days I've heard both 7.5 hours you have to be restarting days like crazy for it to be 8-9 hours to beat Also side not oatchi is great like I love him but he makes the game a cake walk I love him but he's to op
Before watching, my answer is 3Deluxe by far. So much replay value and side content! And the story is actually interesting. 4 hardly had any interesting characters or plot beats.
Rankings: Pikmin 2 Pikmin 4 Pikmin 3 DX Pikmin 1 Pikmin 3 Here's hoping Pikmin 4 DX on switch 2 fixes some of it's glaring issues enough to make it better, but as of now I can't say it's the best game when it's so damn easy and unchallenging
@@astrowastaken_2359 2 is way more enjoyable than 3. If you're a masochist go ahead and enjoy 2 but it's not as fun as the others. I'm fine with difficulty but that game is cruel.

Well I can definitely say that pikmin 4 is the worst one Everyone even brings up the hundreds of problems, some major with this game and just say they don’t care because they finally have a new game No one likes this game, they’re in denial

I agree with your point about Pikmin 3 vs 2. Bigger stakes don't always make a better story. Sometimes the smaller struggles faced by a few people can be much more compelling and grounded.
Yes I agree. Pikmin 1 has the best story by far IMO
The fact I can fully understand any of these being someones favouite is great for this series
I remember getting to an aquatic cave in 4 and saw a beachy backdrop and was like "its so flat this looks terrible" then i looked around and saw it was an aquarium and it was meant to look that way, it took my breath away.
Pikmin 1s story is about missing his family if he will ever see them again and being the only human thing on an entire planet, it’s so emotional
I agree. The hyper-realism of 3 makes the world feel more in terms with the series’s natural theme
Pikmin 3’s fire is so good
Yeah I couldn’t understand why I liked 3s world design more over 4s and your comment sums it all up thanks lol
13:55 I don't really like the character creator much bc it doesn't give the person you play as any distinct personality... Olimar, Louie, and all the others had their charming personality, while the character creator is just so bland in my eyes. On the other hand, Oatchi is best doggo. No debating it.
Yeah exactly. I want a new character not some random non canon entity with no definition.
@@SchmergDergenI believe the canon character is the red girl, Lisa, and the character creator is just a little addition
@@Pikmalicious well it would've been cool if she was in the game...
While I do agree, I think the Recsue Corps pick up that slack. I like the lot of em
Royally sucks you only play as Shepard and Colin in the PvP mode (seriously, why can't you play as Dingo? HE'S THE RANGER FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.)
Facts. The character creator makes it feel like you play Zelda or Mario or any other Nintendo franchise with silent protagonist. It doesn’t feel like Pikmin anymore
I would actually say 4 has the worst story since it can even decide if its a reboot to 1 and 2 or a sequel to 1 and 2
It’s clear that it’s a different timeline of pikmin 1.
@@OreganoParsleyyeah, it’s not even a reboot or anything, just a game exploring what would’ve happened if pikmin 1 continued off the bad ending in a different universe
@@squidfresh3082 I don’t know why people don’t get that. The only difference is the existence of moss. The thing with olimar knowing Louie is probably just for new players.
why is it a reboot?
Sont think to hard it’s a good game
Soundtrack easily goes to pikmin 2. Not only are the soundtrack so good such as the boss theme, awakening wood, submerged castle, etc; but it also the soundtracks sound different when playing as louie giving them a completely new feel and tone. Something that none of the pikmin has done.
I completely get the "crash landing" theme being repetitive, but there's actually a pretty good theory that explains why, called the Umibozu Theory.
Tho Olimar is just trying to go on vacations and ends up crashing again and again 😭
oooo interesting, what exactly is the Umibozu Theory?
"perhaps it wasn't an accident all along..."
It's definitely hinted that SOMETHING is sinking ships
Especially when in 4, literally EVERY person who went there from olimar's signal crashed
Based on engines, it would be 3, 4, 2, 1
I hate the auto lock in Pikmin 4. Auto lock didn't exist in Pikmin 3 Wii U where I played it.
I have no idea why my brain wants to hate Pikmin 3. Yes, it's easy, but it looks and plays great! I had so much fun playing it.
i'm just getting into the Pikmin 4 post game, and it has me convinced that Pikmin 4 is solidly the best in the series.
HELL YEAH! :)
I still think Pikmin 3 is the best, simply because it's fun, memorable and very stunning as well.

The decision of not making the auto lock on optional in 4, really soured my mood on the game. Making it go from a 9 or 10 to a 7 or 8 in mu opinion.
I like the auto lock, but it locks onto the wrong thing sometimes, making a few things much harder.
Honestly same
4s great but minor issues like the autolock keep me from liking it more than 3DX overall
The autolock being so needlessly aggressive and unhelpful just made things frustrating at times

yeah pikmin 3 is kinda lame
I think pikmin 4 is definitely the best but pikmin 3 is my favorite
Nice!
Agree completely
I say pikmin 3 wins environments because areas have a chance to be raining and it feels a lot more alive than the other games.
Pikmin 2 is still the best pikmin game, Pikmin 4 lacks in difficulty imo
4:08 .......so is this a mess up or did the remastered actually move the purple pikmin behind white?
I am very new to the pikmin series I looked pikmin 1 and 3 gameplay, also some of 4 but then I stopped to not spoil myself everything since one day I wanna play it, and started pikmin 2 as my first pikmin game (probably also only; with 4 and the pikmin games that will come after, I didn’t love pikmin 1 and 3 so much) but the 2 looks really nice to me, I love exploring the word collecting all treasures but also mostly in the caves, also if the rng is a bit messy sometimes and sometimes morshu curses you with BOMBZ but I love it all, the challenge and… all lol
Also Louie playable.
Also 3 has a rushed pace, is too easy and overall boring, at least that s my opinion
@@corrin-1976As far as dandori goes, 3 has by far the most streamlined gameplay, being able to cycle through 3 captains on a pseudo-time limit is SO fun once you get into the whole thing-I don't have a favourite between the four games, but 3 is definitely my favourite as far as the RTS aspect goes
Pikmin 1's can be very good for dandori as well, really honing in to get as many ship parts in a day as you can, but there's a drastic difference between the two games not ONLY in that you're reduced to just one captain, but ship parts also for the most part require a GOOD chunk of pikmin to carry, and more often than not you'll be inclined to stay with them to make sure they don't get screwed over
Pikmin 2 and 4 bring you up to 2 captains, but also makes it almost null and void because there's no reason to exercise dandori outside of a few select castles, since the time limit doesn't mean anything with the existence of unlimited days
@@Miles_Edwards I can kinda understand and it seems to me you like much dandori about pikmin, which is good I mean it’s the main thing, with battles and treasures collection (which is more focused in 2) but as I said I watched a gameplay, don’t remember all the details, probably world was still funnier to explore than pikmin 2’s cuz it was a newer game of course, but at the same time idk, i remember bosses being very few,I can understand switching between 3 captains is fun, but you have less pikmin for each squad while i quite like having a lot of pikmin in one team, and the time limit in pikmin 3 is basically worthless too if you are only decent to find treausres, the guy I saw took something like 3 or 4 or 5 fruits a day, and it gave him… well nearly 5 or 6 days of time every day, it can be endearing at the beginning when you don’t have much, but basically even just after that it becomes worthless because you have so much time you can still take your time
this is probably the most underrated RUclipsr ive ever seen
Dammm thanks for your kind words! :)
I think the pikmin 4 soundtrack is only ok, but the post game goes so hard I think I just love pikmin 3 the most due to nostalgia but I think objectively pikmin 4 is the best
Olimar's in depth journals and dialogue in Pikmin 1 is the best character development in the series by far
for ost i think pikmin 2 should win in my opinion, like i love how submerged castle works with its ost, giant breadbug theme is actually perfect and the fact that they make different themes for whats happening
I’ve actually beat Pikmin 3 deluxe in under 8 hours and at least 20 minutes in breaks
AND it was the ultra spicy version
Bro forgot bulbmin
I'm honestly glad Pikmin is getting a lot of love this year
You love to see it! :)
If wasn't for some bigger flaws i cant look past (even outside of Oatchi the game feels very easy most of the time especially given overworld enemies never respawn, autolock just made the experience miserable at times for me, and im not super big on the 3 pikmin type limit on the overworld given Wings and Rocks are rarely useful thanks to that and being very limited until you find their repsective Onions), I'd say 4
But because of said flaws, I have to say I consider 3DX as the best game overall
Also 4s music is just... incredibly hit or miss, which is deeply saddening to say considering 1-3 had greats OSTs
Bro forgot the trauma category
Pikmin 4s story literally did not need the crash landing since the ship is already fixed and has the capacity to fly back by the end of the tutorial
has this guy not listened to the pikmin 3 boss music
Pikmin 2 is the worst intrudotion
Not everyone wants falling bomb rocks and super hard dificullty on their first game
And story of pikmin 2 makes the "emotienal ending" of pikmin 1 almost pointless
Pikmin 1 has a very good soundtrack however for me it's the second game that I prefer for music.
However pikmin 1 by far has the best charm to it and is probably the most emersive for that reason
Pikmin 2 is still my personal favorite
Same
Pikmin 2 Is definitely the best one to be honest.
I'm not saying anyone's wrong, this is just preference:
I have a hard time choosing from Pikmin 4's or 3's gameplay:
On one hand 4 has Oatchi, and more mode variety in the campaign.
VS mode, fighting for the marble is really fun and challenging; however, it was a mode with a lot of potential and room for improvement
Pikmin 4: Dandridge battle.
The real awnser is there is no real awnser
(My personal take)
Pikmin 3: Yeah, kind of a weird choice, but i just cant help but love it, the graphics are amazing, the stakes are high, the characters have good personalities, and, the ending...is just so mysterious, the plasm wraith is just...so weird...in an amazing way, and still to this day it is theorized what it is...if only Pikmin 4 was focused on the events after pikmin 3...instead of it retconning Pikmin 1-3...
Pikmin 2: this game is very difficult, and i love it, and it Introduces Louie, the best villian in the series so far, just overall a great game
Pikmin 1: Olimar has so much personality, and the stakes are REALLY HIGH, if you dont leave, you ARE GOING TO DIE PAINFULLY,
Pikmin 4:...alot of what im about to say might be controversial...first...im not a fan of the graphics...they look...i dont know what it is, but it dosent look pikmin, and then we have the characters...flat as paper...and then...probably the most controversial opinion...Oatchi...i dont like this dog honestly, and i LOVE dogs, but this thing is way to overpowered!
Shouldve added the Willy Wonka you lose scene when you said what Pikmin 2 won

My opinion is pkmin 2 is the best then 4 then 3 then 1 but we all know they are alll equally as good. Also idk why im angry but pikmin 1 is not a remastered its a re-release
I’ve not played Pikmin 1 or 2 but I have played 3 when I had no idea what to do I don’t remember it much but I have it on Wii U at least I think but Pikmin 4 is my favorite because it’s the only one I’ve beaten and that was days after getting it botw took me 5 years to beat Totk took me a little under a week so if I give Pikmin 3 a try then I’m pretty sure I’m going to like it and beat it
2>1>4>3. Simple is just better to me, the abundance of options in 3 and 4 should create more dynamic gameplay, but some of the options are so good they just trivialize the entire game
dude you're wrong about the music. groovy long legs is the BEST ost addition to any game. pikmin 4 landslide.
I get that they weren't wanting to make it a completely different game but come on, could have atleast updated the textures a little
For me the rankings are…
4. Pikmin 2
It’s good at the start, but it gets boring and repetitive once you get to the third area and is just a pain to play. I only kept playing since I wanted to beat the game. Caves are bad as well.
3. Pikmin 1
It’s a great game with a ton of flaws, but unlike Pikmin 2, it stays fun the whole way through. I adore the time limit as well.
2. Pikmin 4
Pikmin 2 but good is what Pikmin 4 could be called. It’s not repetitive and boring, and fun the whole way through. I dislike caves though, they’re just not as fun as exploring one big map. This may also sound dumb, but it felt too long. There’s only so many caves I actually want to play.
1. Pikmin 3
Not even a contest. The game is the best looking on the series, has an amazing soundtrack, the bosses feel dynamic and exciting, the adjustable time limit with the fruits is a great feature, and it doesn’t drag on for too long. Just a great game in general.
You really messed up the thumbnail, the way the white text is over the names Pikmin 3 and Pikmin 4.

Olimar and Louie are the best characters by a mile, I think Pikmin 1 is best soundtrack. Pikmin 4 probably is the best for gameplay, but Pikmin 2 has bulbmin... enough said
Hold up somethings weird here how does Pikmin take 8-9 hours to beat its 30, 13 minutes days make it 6.5 hours at most or if it's 15 minute days I've heard both 7.5 hours you have to be restarting days like crazy for it to be 8-9 hours to beat
Also side not oatchi is great like I love him but he makes the game a cake walk I love him but he's to op
Brittany is a botanist
Pikmin 4 is mid Pikmin 3 the best
Before watching, my answer is 3Deluxe by far. So much replay value and side content! And the story is actually interesting. 4 hardly had any interesting characters or plot beats.
.....Ok is he playing on the remastered versions? If so....what about it is remastered?
Bro forgot to mention the puffmin and the Bulbmin
this is really besides the point of this video, however, you really sound like the youtuber/streamer backseat streams
Pikmin 2, next question🙏🏾
for me how I set up my least favorite to favorite is. 1) pikmin 3 the best, 2) pikmin 2, 3) pikmin 4 and 4) pikmin 1
pikmin 4 is literally pikmin 2 but better
My ranking is:
Pikmin 4
Pikmin 3
Pikmin 1
Pikmin 2
Look at those funky little astronauts
They are cute and squishy :)
Olimar reminds me of Ziggy
I’m still conflicted if 2 is the best or 4 is the best
Rankings:
Pikmin 2
Pikmin 4
Pikmin 3 DX
Pikmin 1
Pikmin 3
Here's hoping Pikmin 4 DX on switch 2 fixes some of it's glaring issues enough to make it better, but as of now I can't say it's the best game when it's so damn easy and unchallenging
The one with pikimn in it
Woah! :0
So not Pikmin 4
3,1,4,2. 4 and 2 are too casual.
Not saying that Pikmin 4 isn't good (In fact Pikmin 4 is great) but, would you rather play more of a bad game or less of a good game?
4
2
3

3:24 The character you control isn’t human. Olimar and Louie are hocotation, Alf Charlie and trash are koppites, you get the idea!
All of them
Tell me I’m wrong
I like Pikmin 2. Funny bulbmin is best pikman.
i love pikmin 2 and 4
2 is peak.
I think pikmin 2 and 3 is the best
Finally someone who agrees 2 is the worst game
Pikmin 4 and 1 are tied. Good in different ways. Then Its 3 and then 2
Fair. Two is just too cruel and doesn't have an original over world.
No shot u said 3 in third, its wayyy too easy, 2 Ian t cruel, u just have a dandori issue
Ain t*
@@astrowastaken_2359 2 is way more enjoyable than 3. If you're a masochist go ahead and enjoy 2 but it's not as fun as the others. I'm fine with difficulty but that game is cruel.
@@astrowastaken_2359 I don't like the rng caves and basically the over world from game 1 copy and pasted. If I want caves Pikmin 4 is better. If I want cool atmospheric over world with time pressure 1 is better. If I want to chill and play at my own pace 3 is better.
Well I can definitely say that pikmin 4 is the worst one
Everyone even brings up the hundreds of problems, some major with this game and just say they don’t care because they finally have a new game
No one likes this game, they’re in denial
Music groovy long legs
4>3>2>1
I dont know if this is a hot take but Pikmin 3 is the best looking Pikmin game in my opinion.
2>4>1>3
Pikmin 5

2. Pikmin 2(very close)
3. Pikmin 3 Deluxe
