Linda is one of my all time favs! She was a world class singer and person (still has a wonderful presence about her). She can't sing anymore due to Parkinson's. I love that you are so enthusiastic about all eras of music! Music is soooo powerful. It is truly healing.
I was one of the former, saw her live 1972 maybe 73 Austin TX have every album and CDs still listen to them. The current auto tuned pop divas today don’t hold a candle to her.
Linda is spectacular. Truly one of the best all-time female vocalists. Powerful, intimate, tender, clear, perfectly on pitch, etc etc. And she could do any genre and sound authentic.
What I love about her she never over does it. She does everything in the right tone for the situation and turns it on when she should. Don’t forget la charedda
A big Smokey Robinson (who co-wrote it) hit in the mid-1960s age of Soul Music. She re-interpreted it and sang it from a woman's view. She made a huge hit of it again as pop-country-rock ballad. The 1970s was the era of woman auteur-singer, but Linda wasn't a song write. She's just the best female singer of the past 50 years!
Watching younger folks discover these gems that were part of our child and young adulthood confirms that the soundtrack of our lives was pretty special. Yes we were blessed beyond words...
Linda could literally sing anything. I saw her in concert in the late 1970s and she sounded great live. Other great songs that she recorded are "Long Long Time", "Someone to lay down beside me", "when will I be loved" and "Tumblin' Dice" by the Rolling Stones. She did a great cover of it.
The summer of 1977 I followed Linda Ronstadt 5 New England states for 6 show . She is Simply amazing that album and the picture on the back cover I was a fan forever... GOD BLESS LINDA with her Health issues. ❤
This is actually a pretty difficult song to sing. Being able to nail these highs and lows is tough. To actually tackle a Smoky Robinson song and do it well is a tribute to her abilities. Her range is incredible. This is such a GREAT show. A wonderful snapshot in time.
Peter ASher has said, "One of Linda’s remarkable abilities is finding songs that she can do and then wrestling a whole new meaning and intensity out of them. When she sings a song you can believe it."
Love Linda. Love Smokey. This was great but please do some of her Mexican songs . . . La Chareada, La Cigarra, these are brilliant live performances (and i do mean performances) and you will love the outfits 😉 or, there is a live video on you tube of Down So Low that will blow your socks off! Oh the power! The passion! Love it! Lol
Such an amazing classic song. Smokey made it a huge hit that still works after decades!!! And add Linda's perfect cover ....her voice is perfection. Great one! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Don Henley and Glen Frye of the Eagles were in her band and she fully supported them leaving to start their own group. A great singer and a supporter of all kinds of music
Love Linda, she definitely moved to beat of her own drum. Loved her faith in herself in the face of her label telling her if she did something (Like make a Latin album, classical standards, which both went multi platinum, in fact the Latin album is the largest selling Latin music album in American History.) it would her career. Opera, she did it, Broadway, she did it. Just a legendary performer.
I just found a song by Tanya Tucker, Dearest Linda. It's a lovely tribute to Linda. It made me cry all over again for the loss of Linda's voice. Pleasse, please do Desperado & Long, Long Time. Thank you.
@__.Miss_brittreacts Thank you so much for the invitation but I won't be able to do that. I am 3 mos. younger than Linda. That makes me 77 yrs. old & I am a complete technophobe. Linda has truly been the background of my life. I'd put a heart at the end of this but I don't know how! ;-D Hey, that's an emoji isn't it?!
!. it is 60's music. 2. the lyrics are by America's greatest living Poet, 3.It's MOTOWN 4. It is being sang by one of the best American artists> DAH...we all win!
This is a prime example what you get when you take the genius of a Smokey song with voice and talent of Linda. The is also a recording that you have to listen to multiple times. The band's instumental back up is wonderfu. The harmonies blend in and come in at the right times. The arrangement is spot on. The latter you can really hear when she sings, "the smile is my make-up, ever since my break up". And, again, thank you Smokey for that rhyme.
Great Smokey Robinson song - he wrote some of the greatest songs every written. This and Tears of a clown have similar themes, and are amongst the best songs there are.
I see you've become a fan of Linda. Welcome to the club! She always gives 100% to all her performance and recordings. And yes the writing on this song is top notch as you discovered. She has so many songs for you to discover that its hard to pick just one recommendation but a recent one that has become popular recently is her rendition of "Long Long Time".
Did you know that Don Henley and Glen Frey of the Eagles were in her first band. The started writing together while touring with her and soon formed the Eagles.
I saw Linda in concert at Jones Beach. The Neville Brothers opened for her. An amazing memorable show. Ronstadt has released 24 studio albums and 15 compilation or greatest hits albums. She charted 38 US Billboard Hot 100 singles. Twenty-one of those singles reached the top 40, ten reached the top 10, and one reached number one ("You're No Good"). Ronstadt also charted in UK as two of her duets, "Somewhere Out There" with James Ingram and "Don't Know Much" with Aaron Neville, peaked at numbers 8 and 2 respectively and the single "Blue Bayou" reached number 35 on the UK Singles charts. She has charted 36 albums, ten top-10 albums, and three number 1 albums on the US Billboard Pop Album Chart.
Linda, was one of the greatest singers ever inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame and surely deserved it. She killed another Smokey song OOo Baby Baby. They did a fabulous duet together. Linda and Dusty Springfield are noted to do covers as good or better than the original One example Linda did the Stones Tumbling Dice better in my opinion.tho I'm a fan of the Stones.
I love the Country Rock take on this. Like yous said - Linda's always great, but she has a really good band as well. Especially Andrew Gold and Kenny Edwards.
Smokey wrote some of the best lines in music history. One of my favorites, " if good looks were a minute you know that you could be an hour". It doesn't sound cheesy when its written by Smokey in a song for The Temptations, one of the biggest hits for Motown "The Way You Do The Things You Do".
I say this on every reaction you do to Linda Ronstadt, and maybe someday you will get to it. You've got to check out the studio cut off her smash hit from the mid-70s, Back in the USA. From the album, Living in the USA. You want to hear her belt and totally rock while just killing you with her sexiness the whole time? You've got to hear it. You have got to hear it.
Hey Britt. You know, I've been watching your reaction videos a while now, and when you break into the music and sing a few notes of our own to demonstrate the points you're making...you sound GREAT. Why not try and release a few songs yourself? I think you 'get' music. You always seem to understand all the little nuances and the subtle technicalities which make music sound great. Basically, I'd love to hear you sing yourself. What do you say? 🙋♂ ❤ 🙋♂ ❤
Your getter alot more closer now too 130k how awesome great video awesome voice another great reaction by you again thank you so much for sharing this video with us love it Britt.👍
Johnny Rivers recorded this a few years before Linda did. You should check out some of his songs, like "Secret Agent Man", "Memphis", "Seventh Son", "Wrong Side of the Tracks", etc.
I had such a crush on Linda when I was a teenager. I love listening to her. But Smokey’s recording of this song is the definitive version in my opinion.
This was a hit in 1965 for Smokey Robinson & the Miracles, and again for Linda in 1975. Since you just listen to Little Feat, listen to Linda sing Willin'. Also her cover of the Stones' Tumbling Dice.
Hey Britt if you have not yet you most definitely need to review her best song which is You're No Good. The studio version is perfect but if you enjoy the video and seeing the band which I know you do there's several versions online which are amazing
Britt! You Have to react to Linda and Mariachi Vargas performing La Charreada! She decided she was going to do a tribute to her Mexican roots. Seriously , a must👌
Linda Ronstadt has an incredible, powerful voice. I don’t know if you have done a reaction to the original version by Smokey Robinson and The Miracles, if you haven’t - you should. Another version that is so good is Adam Lambert’s version when he was on American Idol. When Smokey Robinson writes a song, he tells a story and that is one of the things that I love about his music. So good…just so, so, so good!
Gorgeous important pipes especially Live. Powerful and tender surrounded by devoted talented players. Unadorned authentic heartbreak. Very rare songbird. Linda...sigh.
Really enjoying your reactions. Would love to see your reaction to Linda Ronstadt's concert in Mexico, "Canciones de Mi Padre"(Songs of My Father) where she sings with Mariachi Vargas. Any song in that production is pure gold. Thank you for all the joy you bring with your reactions
nice reaction…. hopefully you’ll do a reaction Linda singing “Way Down Low”. You’ll see a studio version with backup singers and live version just her singing the song. Both great versions however I prefer the live version. I’m literally in awe after watching that performance of hers. Performed in Germany during her European tour.
MY LADY, it just amazes me how intuitive you are breaking down all facets of a song,no matter what genre music you are reacting to! You must be in the music business or damn well should be. I would love you to react to one of my son's music videos if at all possible-with a nice donation of course. For I truly believe you are by far the very best reactor on RUclips... Anyway, much appreciation for what you do and say! Stay well
You said, Britt, that "there's something about the music that sound's nostalgic..." and that's because, as mentioned below, it was originally from the 60's by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles.
There are two other versions of this song that Linda sings. It would be wonderful if you reacted to them. The first is the in studio version and second when she sings with Smokey Robinson. I think it was a Motown anniversary show. Please continue to react to Linda.
Smokey Robinson is a genius song writer and performer. You should react to him, too. Sometimes as Smokey Robinson and the Micalcles and sometimes on his own. And YES it was a big hit for Smokey.
Anyone who wants to know what pefectly blended harmonies sound like, look no further than the combo of Linda Ronstadt and JD Souther. They were magical together. The only ones whose vocal harmonies match and blend so well, and are soi beautiful, maybe the Carpeners or Simon and Garfunkel. Ronstadt and Souther's harmonies together are blissful ear candy. 💯
Linda Ronstadt can do no wrong. Her diverse recordings are pure gold.
Linda is one of my all time favs! She was a world class singer and person (still has a wonderful presence about her). She can't sing anymore due to Parkinson's. I love that you are so enthusiastic about all eras of music! Music is soooo powerful. It is truly healing.
Ronstadt could sing the phonebook and I'd listen. Smokey Robinson wrote this and had a big hit with it.
She and Karen Carpenter... different voices, but the same effect....
@@GhostWatcher2024 there is a video of Linda singing with Smoky on this and another song.
@@GhostWatcher2024
Also another version, covered by Johnny Rivers
Willie Nelson said it best. “There are two kinds of guys in the world, those that are in love with LR, and those that don’t know who she is.”
I was one of the former, saw her live 1972 maybe 73 Austin TX have every album and CDs still listen to them. The current auto tuned pop divas today don’t hold a candle to her.
@@timmackey2896 I’m still one of the former.
Willie Nelson said that about Emmylou Harris, not Linda.
@@angel1329us does it really matter?
@@alankoemel3168of course it does but thanks for asking
If you want to hear her as a powerhouse. Watch her sing La Charreda !
Linda is spectacular. Truly one of the best all-time female vocalists. Powerful, intimate, tender, clear, perfectly on pitch, etc etc. And she could do any genre and sound authentic.
She has one of the best enunciations of any singer I've ever heard.
Linda is my favorite female singer! She could sing anything you wanted her to sing. Love her and have all of record albums in my collection. ❤️ ❤❤❤❤❤
I could listen to Linda sing anything.
The best part is that, with Linda, it could actually be ANYTHING.
Linda has a song call "A Long Long Time" that is a beautiful song.
What I love about her she never over does it. She does everything in the right tone for the situation and turns it on when she should. Don’t forget la charedda
It's a great song and Linda's voice has a unique quality. Everything she does is the best. Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!
Her performances are always impeccable. She is stunningly talented. 🌺✌️
I SO love everything about Linda,,,,,shes one of a kind

"This is a hit!" Yep, twice. Once for Smokey Robinson and then again years later for Linda Ronstadt. Great song.
One of the best voices ever! Could argue the best since she killed it in so many genres of music

Hi Britt. Great job on your Channel.
Smokey Robinson wrote this tune. He was an incredible song writer/singer... and Linda did this song well. Both versions are fantastic.

One of my all time favorite Linda songs. And your reaction and analysis- spot on. I enjoy quality reactions with intelligent commentary like yours.
I was lucky enough to see Linda Ronstadt in concert back in the 70s...she was and still is awesome.
Anything written by Smokey is fantastic.
May I suggest Ooh Baby Baby by him. Best slow dance song ever.
I got to see her sing that with Smokey at the Forum in LA. Talk about memorable.
Wow, I've never seen her. Saw Smokey many many years ago with Miracles at Carter Baron in DC.

Ronstadt & Smokey performed a duet of this song and "Ooh Baby Baby" at the Motown 25 special in 1983.

It is nostalgic filled with lots of real emotion and story lines.
Johnny Rivers recorded this a few years before Linda did. You should check out some of his songs, like "Secret Agent Man", "Memphis", "Seventh Son", "Wrong Side of the Tracks", etc.
One of my all-time favorite female artists so sad that her voice has been stolen from her by that horrible disease!
You will love, "Long, Long Time", by Linda. One of her first songs after she left the Stone Poney's.
I love her music
I had such a crush on Linda when I was a teenager. I love listening to her. But Smokey’s recording of this song is the definitive version in my opinion.
Smokey Robinson wrote a gem here, and his version is crazy good.
Linda walks on water.
She sang this and "Ooh, Baby, Baby" as duets with Smokey Robinson on the TV special "Motown 25 Years.!

Ms. Ronstadt is a national treasure.

Linda also recorded great cover versions of popular songs by Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, and the Rolling Stones.

If you want to hear the full force and beauty of Linda's voice, listen to her Spanish song, "La Cigarra". It won't disappoint.

Linda Ronstadt and Mariachi Vargas - La Charreada
Great cover of an iconic Smokey Robinson song.
You ought to watch her and Smokey doing that duet.
Great cover of the original recording by Smokey Robinson in the '60s.
Smokey did this one! So great! But Linda’s is great also. Obviously Smokey thinks so too. ❤
That's a gorgeous song, isn't it ? No wonder that Smokey lets Linda sing it, rather than sticking to The Miracles' version.
Linda is an awesome singer!!! React to Different Drum, by The Stone Poneys... Linda, when she was younger, was in this group.❤❤
Old Motown tune. Fantastic
