I'm at the point that Justin says to take notes and I couldn't help but smile. As I was driving and listening to the Alok episode for the 10th (or more) time last night, I thought to myself "I'm inspired more to take notes, follow up, and do research from this podcast than from nearly any high school or college class I took." You won't find a big supporter of the STEM movement than me, but lessons and conversations like this as a teenager would've completely changed my life in more ways than I can possibly imagine.

What my rights and protecting mean .
Claims to a loving man
When I began studying Indigenous American cultures, it became crystal clear to me that the pro-choice/pro-life debate was nothing but a false binary created by patriarchy imposed by colonialism (along with the gender binary and so many other horrendous beliefs). My own Taíno Indigenous society was matrifocal, women and men were equal, which included holding the position of chief. Women had full control over their reproductive rights, sex was not a taboo for anyone, and knowledge of abortion-inducing herbs was passed on through the generations. The same goes for C-sections, the use of herbal painkillers, bone setting, chiropractic methods, meditation, and other medical practices that we think are "new". In our Indigenous cultures, children are a gift, yes, but there was also an understanding that abortions could be an option to all women. I hope you'll talk about Indigenous beliefs on many of these crucial topics, so that your audience can see that there were/are many other ways of coexisting, respecting every living person, human or non-human, and our earth.

This was fantastic. I have been working in violence intervention and prevention for 25 years. First couple as inmate participant-intern trainee. I am now the program manager. I was fortunate enough to be in a zoom training with Jackson being the surprise guest speaker. I could literally listen to him all day. Hearing his accent is cool too, since I am from Mass. I actually came across this to show in a zoom class for men in the SF county jail where I work. Really, happy to come across, The Man Enough Podcast. What was said about how society and chauvinism defines "manhood" is actually the exact opposite of what true and real manhood is, really resonated with me, and it's something that I've been thinking about a bit myself. - Also the opposite "perspective" was mentioned. Where true and real manhood, gets defined as being "not a man" and "not one of the guys", and how men and boys are ridiculed for being real and sane and decent men, by the chauvinistic culture and thinking.

Wow he's a powerhouse speaker. I loved that you'll started talking up front about abortion. Im so glad that Liz mentioned the stats in the last few minutes about how many women have had an abortion. 1 in 3. Abortion solved one problem but creates a whole new set of problems. The criticism about women being baby killers is that there's the assumption that it's a lighthearted decision. No woman has an abortion lightly. Abortion is the end result of a systemic problem about how we dont value mother's in this society, irrespective of the fact that women do not earn equal pay, or how much childcare costs, or deadbeat dads. A woman knows the buck stops with her and if she doesnt feel she has the support to raise this child then she has to put her life before the baby's.
The other thing is that there are ALOT of women who carry the symptoms of an abortion they had, however many years ago they had it, it causes a disconnection in their relationship with themselves, unless they work through that. Not only emotional disconnection but in their bodies in particular. That's a whole lot of suppression. That's a whole lot of women not fully present in relationships.

Fetuscide survivors prove it's a medically unnecessary procedure. It's really just female violence and how can you talk honestly if men are supposed to shut mysongyny don't. And. Most extreme anti males right who say kick men out to curve were Bl women..
The feminist achievements like 19 were mostly by men.
How have benefited from being kicked out and alimony and child support and no parental rights. .
How men no benefited for more people wanting to kill them to makes women in lives comfortable.

There is but one thing that humankind needs: it is the empowerment of women! Their control of their education, and their own bodies, and their lives. They can control their futures that way. People who say they are pro-life need to accept those children they want born. They need to treat them as their own children. Otherwise, they are pro-birth!

I disagree with abortion as a women mainly because of the abortion survivors which are boys and girls. But I do like this men's movement overthinking what menhood means and hopefully you get more voices.

How can you claim to support quality of life if you want everyone to be objectively poor . So no one is objectively poor for something as petty as equality.

The 'in her body vs it is her body' is a great starting point but should not be the end point. To take that further: Can the 'other being' survive outside her body? Many have compared fetuses to parasites (health impacts, greater danger for the host in every single health issue, diverting of nutritional resources, blood supply, gestational diabetes, enlarging of the heart to sustain the fetus (in and of itself a potential health problem for the 'host'), etc.). Parasites cannot live outside the body, same as a fetus up to a certain point of gestation. They need the body. So, while they are separate, one needs the other. The other does not need the one to survive. Would any pro-lifer ever care, even remotely, about a roundworm? Never! The 'host' gets to make the decision. If it is a typical parasite, it's gone. If it is a baby, it should always be the 'host's' decision.

While I enjoyed this episode, I felt like Jackson should've been challenged to respond with original answers unique to his own experiences. For instance, the bystander part of the discussion felt like a repeat of so many conversations I've heard in the past. I'm not saying this wasn't educational, but I think another route to go with the bystander approach is to invite men to go on the journey of trying to understand, empathize and respect women. The points Jackson made were great, but sometimes just calling men out when they say something wrong can come off as lecturing them on how to act like gentlemen, when in reality they need to be healed.

Having a mother and sisters who had abortions and seeing how this decision mangled their very beings has caused me to believe adoption not abortions serves and honors the baby and the mom.
