In a world where making world history is in its pages, may you make many more and let us say, Amen.

Thank you! Beautiful blend. I'm catching hints of medieval flare and drone within the more modern flow, yet you still end stanzas in a bit of a nod to the renaissance style. (I may be completely way off, as I'm still learning - and I like the parallel fifths here as they are used appropriately to reinforce an underlying chant tone) Regardless, it captures quite a bit of music history in a relatively short piece. As someone else said, fascinating! Going to suggest to our choir director we try this piece out...

Hi! I'm trying to learn and understand more what choral composing takes. I loved this piece, but was curious as to why you have the tenors voiced lower than the baritones? Part of me says at that point the tenor part should just be the baritone line, but composers always have their reasons for things and I'm just starting out and am just curious :) Phenomenal piece though!

Hi Trevor this comes from singing in choirs myself- the second tenor below the first bass interlocks the resonance really nicely in the way that orchestral woodwinds (eg flute clarinet flute clarinet in descending order through a chord) allows for a really pure intonation and means that the tenors are in a lower tessitura while the first basses are higher- as a result the first basses have a more active tone within the chord which then supports the first tenors. Hope that helps and all the best with your composing!

Wonderful! Is sheet music available for purchase/download or must an email be sent to Birdsong Music Publishing?

It’s a fascinating piece, but I can’t help but cringe when I hear the parallel fifths…

all modern music as well as contemporary choral harmony contains parallel fifths tho, not really abnormal at all

      "Parallel fifths?
      In _my_ contemporary music?"
It's more likely than you think.
