@@roberts6644I just looked it up and they are identical!!! He wrote Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal in 2010 and rearranged it with the Ubi Caritas text in 2011 for Prince William’s wedding (he also raised the key to Db so that the bass 2s would have a chance to hit the low notes)
I mean it’s possible, but both Mealor and Whitacre were getting recognition at the same time and I think their harmonic language is distinct enough to say they aren’t deriving from each other

measure 2, second quarter note, they sing an A natural but it's written A sharp... anyone have insight on that?

Beautiful, but the tessitura is not ideal, unless you make it alto, tenor1 and 2, baritone, bass 1 and 2. No soprano

This piece is more of an experimental chorale. It was never meant to be performed in a concert setting.
