She was not only an excellent singer but a very beautiful lady who knew how to dress with elegance and do her hair in a very sexy fashion. All of her songs are good to hear and now 54 years later they have passed the test of time.
Dusty was such a talent. The song is great; those were the days of good music and great performers. Too bad today's kids have nothing but smut, disgusting performers and "music" that IS NOT music. May Dusty be at peace in heaven. The '60s music was the best. Oh yeah.
So 60’s so special and Dusty was a very great representative of same. Her’s was a unique emotional voice that will always be remembered when many of the time will be forgotten. RIP lovely lady.
What a powerful voice she had really! And she sang with depth and feeling. Dusty is still one of my favorite singers despite the fact she left us nearly 19 years ago.
Dusty herself produced all her early records-----------" Dusty was the best singer ever"----said Petula Clark----I SO agree with Pet's gracious tribute
i loved her as a kid.. what a voice she had so much soul and feel and i always found her mesmerizing, the darling little hand and arm gestures and Lord help me the taunting of her hips! she had lot of class, she wouldn't shake them much but when she did.......WOW!!! great song!( i was 15 at the time)........
This woman is so beautiful and such an amazing singer what a fantastic talent! My daughter is now 18 and is a very strong singer and I want her most of all to emulate Dusty Springfield!
A legend. The original queen of blue eyed soul. These songs were a sign of the times. Her stuff a few years later really showcased her vocal uniqueness and talents. The latter makeup and hairstyle choices were also her part of her personal style and a way to mask her personal struggles. She definitely did not receive the props she rightfully deserved as an artist.
What a great talent ! And may I say respectfully - a beautiful figure on her as well - without having to take her clothes off like so many of these performers these days.
Before stereo, it was a great way to add more 'dimension', wasn't it? I guess, once other producers heard it, they soon worked out how to do something like it. As many Dusty songs were not Wall Of Sound style, I suppose this was sort of experimental. Dusty was a one-off all right, and a lovely person by all accounts.
On this day in 1964 {May 10th} Dusty Springfield performed "I Only Want to Be With You" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show’... This was her debut record on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; and little over two months earlier on March 8th, 1964 it peaked at #12 {for 1 week} and it spent 10 weeks on the Top 100... On the same 'Sullivan' show she also performed "Stay Awhile"; the day before it was at #38 and that was its last day on the Top 100, and position #38 was also its peak position on the Top 100... Between 1964 and 1970 she, as a solo artist, had eighteen Top 100 records; with three making the Top 10, "Wishin' and Hopin'" {#6 in 1964}, "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" {#4 in 1966}, and "Son-of-a-Preacher Man" {#10 in 1969}... In 1988 on February 14th, in a duet with the Pet Shop Boys, she peaked at #2 {for 2 weeks} with "What Have I Done to Deserve This?"; it was kept out of the top spot by "Seasons Change" by Expose and "Father Figure" by George Michael... Sadly, Ms. Springsfield, born Mary Isobel Catherine Bernadette O'Brien, passed away on March 2nd, 1999 at the young age of 59... May she R.I.P.
thank you for that information. I know I watched it, even though I was only 8yrs. old. my mother's birthday is may 10th. I love and miss you ma. DUSTY was one of a kind.
THE VOICE, ELEGANCE, BEAUTY, STYLE, CLASS, CHARM, CHARISMA, FINESSE, just to name a few attributes of the Great Dusty Springfield. She may have finished her earthly course, but her music and legacy will live on for eternity, never to fade into oblivion. Rest in eternal sleep beautiful Dusty until you hear his voice call and you will answer. 🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💞💞💞💞💕💕💕💕💕💕❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶
It was all about the Beatles that time and soon followed the Stones... altogether with other british artists during this era that is conquering pop music all around america and the world
Thankyou for this clip. What a beautiful amazing singer and person. She has her own style and her movements just suit all her songs.A tru professional in every sense. Always presenting herself attractively.Great music and orchestration.I wish w e had it today.Real music. Cheers, John.
Classy Lady, great voice great, song and the best thing is, I remember my (older) sister playing this on her record player way back then. Love Dusty and thanks Tania!
Dusty HATED "miming" (lyp-synch) & she was never that good at it. Lol. . This is the Dusty that I love -- the early Dusty -- the songs, that hairstyle, the mascara, the pale lips.... before she had to do all that big hair & ballady stuff.
After I saw what Dusty was doing on the stage here, I think I'm more appropriate song for her would have been "I just don't know what to do with myself"
Some shows, such as Ed Sullivan, used an overhead microphone when the artists sang "live". Check out Lesley Gore on Ed Sullivan....She sang live and no microphone was visible to the tv audience. (Medley of It's My Party and She's A Fool).
She was not only an excellent singer but a very beautiful lady who knew how to dress with elegance and do her hair in a very sexy fashion. All of her songs are good to hear and now 54 years later they have passed the test of time.
Those were the days of beautiful, distinctive voices. Dusty, you are sorely missed. 👼
And great singer songwriters to write for them
1960s the era of funny dancing. 😁
She was the greatest singer of all time. The greatest.
@@lillycali7287 And it continues to this day. 😂

The sixties had some of the best music, the music today still ok.
I'm 75 and the "Dusty Shake " still gets me going ! lol
So 60’s so special and Dusty was a very great representative of same. Her’s was a unique emotional voice that will always be remembered when many of the time will be forgotten. RIP lovely lady.
Dusty was such a lady, her speaking voice is sublime.
One of most beautiful and european women
Dusty Springfield, now more than 20 years since she left us, but her legacy lives on in clips like these.
What a powerful voice she had really! And she sang with depth and feeling. Dusty is still one of my favorite singers despite the fact she left us nearly 19 years ago.

God, I could watch her for hours. Talent, humor, charm, style, beauty and KILLER VOICE!
I adored her and used to sing many of her songs. Her volume was amazing and her sense of rhythm just thrilled me. May her memory be a blessing,
Dusty was one of the best singers of the British invasion! R.I.P. Dusty and Dick Clark!

Dusty was awesome, great singer and beautiful lady...
I was lucky enough to be in the Ed Sullivan Show studio audience the following day. What a performer.
Back in the day when grandma dancing was just called dancing. Great music.

Has a real "Wall of Sound" production
I hear Phil Spector, 'though the producer is John Franz. Awesome song, awesome lady. Do I love her? I adore her!

If Dusty had been an 'established' star..."Stay Awhile" would have gone much 'higher' than #38...I'm SURE!
A beautiful voice full of power and vigour.
thank you for that information. I know I watched it, even though I was only 8yrs. old. my mother's birthday is may 10th. I love and miss you ma. DUSTY was one of a kind.
