Would this be the same sensor for the automatic headlights? No faults/notifications on the dashboard, automatic headlight function just not working. I know on cars there’s usually a sun load sensor on the dash or on the mirror. There’s an ambient air temperature on the new peterbilts driver mirror that looks very similar to what I think the sun load sensor would look like.
I had to replace same sensor on my 2013. What they didn't tell me was that the 'updated' sensor also required an updated harness. The new sensors don't fit the old harness. $$grab!!

Having replaced the sensor twice, I'm still getting readings of -40, 0, or "--" and apparently the climate-control unit will not allow AC to come on if it thinks the outside temp is -40 . . . AC system seems to work only when this sensor functions, which is only intermittent. Unfortunately gonna have to chase down the problem in the harness it seems. Slightly helpful to see the diagram here of where that wiring goes. But not very.

My issue is when it rains and now it’s saying -20 degrees and the heat comes on
