I'm glad it helped you out! Thanks for the support! I have noticed that, mine does it as well and I have heard they tend to do that. I have almost 0 cold cranking amps below 48°F
Its a brand new battery but I don't know what it is rated for in terms of cold start. The roto tiller was purchased new along with the plow and the snowblower.
I fortunately haven't had to buy many but mostly online, international went out of business years ago so only a few dealers have parts for the old cubs
No, only in the case the electrical system is fully taken apart or the generator is replaced, ideally you would to follow the manual but it's not always required
I think my solenoid went out because I don't hear a loud think like yours and it's not turning over anymore but I can't find one at the stores that look like it
Just curious because I'm learning why do you have to do this? Somebody told me I have to repolarize my voltage regulator. I know that it is different and that you did your starter generator
It is different, it is important to repolarize when you replace the battery. If you would like I could go into more detail as to why it is important. Thanks for your support! Always great to connect with people!
@@oldschoolfarmer3685 I just restored my whole Sears suburban ss15,new everything. I bought a regulator with one of the poles on the bottom of the regulator that would called for the 3rd pole. Instead of all of them sticking out on the front, I'm pretty sure I have my voltage regulator hooked up the right way it is not charging it discharges when I turn the lights on, that what makes me think I have the wires hooked up right. I posted in a group a tractor group and he said I needed to polarize it. If I honestly can't figure it out I'm going to see if my old one will work I just wanted a new shiny one but I could probably just replace the black Delco Remy cover new one to the old one if it works. Like you said I have to see if I have an A or a b.

Maybe on that starter generator you could use the starting circuit on that tractor. Ie. Those cubs polarize the generator every time you start it ! Oops.
Not always, the polarization happens on startup normally but in the case the regulator loses charge or the brushes in the generator stick it is necessary
I would like to note that A and B refers to this series of machines, your machine will have a different set up!
So fantastic to see these wise old owls helping us out !!
You done an excellent job explaining how to polarize a generator.
two thumbs up. Keep up the good work.
Thank you
You’re very good keep up the good work
This helped me so much, I have a question for you. I have a Cub Cadet 127 and the generator turns the motor super slowly, have you experienced this?
I'm glad it helped you out! Thanks for the support! I have noticed that, mine does it as well and I have heard they tend to do that. I have almost 0 cold cranking amps below 48°F
@@oldschoolfarmer3685 Is it the battery? Also where did you find the roto tiller for it?
Its a brand new battery but I don't know what it is rated for in terms of cold start. The roto tiller was purchased new along with the plow and the snowblower.
Also how's it powered, i have been looking for a set up to do my garden but I had this old cub and it's a wip but still looking
By a 90 degree right rotation gearbox mounted on the differential cover plate
Also do you know where I can get replacement parts?
I fortunately haven't had to buy many but mostly online, international went out of business years ago so only a few dealers have parts for the old cubs
@@oldschoolfarmer3685 I will, thank you!
Of course! Let me know
Are you saying that you need to polarize the generator every time you disconnect the battery and reconnect it ? I've never done that .
No, only in the case the electrical system is fully taken apart or the generator is replaced, ideally you would to follow the manual but it's not always required
So what if it starts spinning when hooking up the negative cable to the chassis and sparks when touching the negative side of the battery ?
It sounds like you have a stuck contact or bad solenoid
If you do this to the generator, do you not have to do it to the regulator as well? I’ve heard you have to do both
Ideally it polarizes both in the case of everything being connected
I've always just took a screw driver and asked the A and F terminals.
Is this same process for 1961 cub original , thanks George
Yes sir
I think my solenoid went out because I don't hear a loud think like yours and it's not turning over anymore but I can't find one at the stores that look like it
Yeah I had to send full 12v through to revive it and I hope not! Those solenoid are $85 last I knew. Let me know if I can be of any assistance

Covid-19 has made video production difficult with little cash income at the moment, I will definitely get on that as soon as I can though!

Do you have a part number I can at least look at? I could try to do it that way if you don't have Instagram or Twitter
how do you know the difference between a and b?
They are marked on the housing of the generator typically
Can you change rotation ofstartergenerator
Yes just reverse the cables if they are backwards, but it sounds like the system needs polarized, the electricity is flowing in the wrong direction
do you know if a cub cadet 102 is an A circuit i cant find anything about a 102
Let me see if I can dig something up at my dealership

The generator starts the engine?
Yes the generator is dual function acting as a starter and a generator in both capacities
How to test a battery charger
Thank you for your suggestion! Look for the video in the next few days! Should be able to make videos by then👍
How do I tell of it is a or b
It is or should be listed in your owners manual
I don’t have a owners manual any other way to tell
I'm looking for indicators for you
