It's sad how Kiss ignore this album. Not to hear one single song, live. I love every song of it. It's dark, it's heavy, it has personality. Too bad most of the fans prefer them to play only the classics...
yeah, I don't understand why , like you said: the fans prefer the classics. KISS played live the same songs because the audience (most of them) don't know the obscure songs, but also they don't have to put any effort on playing others because people keep going to their concerts. That last chord and the group picture makes me sad every time I watch this about that this era ended. And it ended much too quickly. The best they have ever been regarding musicality, energy and focus. Great times, Bruce was one heck of a guitar player.
Yea. I really was excited about the reunion tour, been a fan since ‘75, but never wanted the reunion to be permanent. At their peak musically 1990-1995.
It's hated because it sucks. Nearly every song is dreary and a lie. These guys are fing millionaires and they're singing about how the world sucks for them. They said they'd never do an album like this and they sold out and did it and it's a lie.
It is ignored because it isn't Kiss. Sure, it is the band, Kiss..but they are doing what is essentially musical karaoke. It is contrived, forced and uninspired. Sure, bands should evolve and try to bring new ideas to every release. But they reached WAY too far with this album.
I was 25 when it was released and I was all into alternative rock and industry metal at the time, so when KISS released this it felt like they were just trying too hard to be relevant. But I listened to it again not long ago and I really loved it. It`s a great album.
I could watch at least an hour documentary on the recording of this release. It's one of my very favorite KISS releases of ALL time and I've been a hard core fan since the early days as a child growing up when they first came out when I was only 8 yrs old in 1974. I think they really reached a mature peek in their career when they did this one...I also felt that with the Elder (keep in mind it was a soundtrack for a potential movie) The diversity of their playing and sound is so wide yet they keep the same flavor and signature feel with their lyrics and style. I cherish this era a lot for many reasons. Incredible production all the way around on everyone's part~!!!
Reunion was an incredible and great thing for many fans. That said, i'm totally agree that it is the Bruce Kulick "and" Kiss album. Bruce, a talented and humble (too much?) musician, great guitarist, a part savior of Kiss (with the Eric's) deserved to print of his hand a Kiss album and it is this one. The underrated but excellent and one of heaviest Kiss albums, the well named Carnival of Souls: The Final Sessions. Reunion was already on that Bruce was still working on this album, making bass, guitars and many productions works. So yes, it would have deserved a tour before making Reunion but as said, business is not waiting... Thank you Bruce Kulick for this album, this is yours and after that, you walk alone...
The rare days of a nice, non-douchey Gene (which was probably between 1991 and 1996), he was so happy, fit and had some sense for self-reflexion and Dignity...plus he made his best songs ever during this period...I wonder what caused it...
I still remember the first time I put this album in my radio, I was really not expecting the amount of heaviness that this record had but I loved every single song, I also loved that Bruce finally sang at least one song on this album, this album should've gotten more exposure than it did (or rather didn't I suppose).
They didn't want to promote it. Paul never liked it, deoesn't to this day and by the time they were recording COS Paul and Gene were already putting the reunion tour together and knew they weren't going to tour to support it.

This is a BEST album of KISS, very underrated...Revenge and Carnival of Souls are the best because this is the best line-up, Paul's great all time, Bruce got the best solos, Eric S. is far better than Peter and Gene's voice has changed in the 90's (to better of course)...KISS Rulezzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree, this was Kiss at their finest.... The Elder was brilliant too. What pisses me off is the overall mentally of the common Kiss fan... They want another Destroyer, or Rock N Roll Over, Or Creatures, but when Kiss ventures off to explore new ground like this, its not well received and rejected and dismissed as a commercial failure... So, we end up with safe bullshit like Monster, and Sonic Boom! Fuck the ball and chains of the make up and spandex and continue to explore as an artist and grow....I love this album....it's honest, and has the finger prints of Bruce all through it....totally different band then the lunch box and pinball machine selling supergroup! Revenge was Kiss trying too hard (to be current and heavy) so it became bloated music, this album feels more natural old-school Kiss say Hotter Than Hell era. Actually, it's not that grungy just raw and more dirty sounding.
I really can't understand why people hate this album so much, together with Revenge, it's my favorite album. I love to hear the heavier KISS. Don't get me wrong, the classics are classics. But Jungle, In The Mirror, I Will Be, those are simply amazing songs! I know they wouldn't be the same with 2012's KISS But I'd personally love to see Paul singing "I Will Be There" Only Him and the crowd I'd be amazing and bring a nice feeling to everyone
Its not the best kiss record niether the worst. When I listened to it for the first time back in the day, i was like... WTF, is this kiss? ....But It has aged well. Still listening to it today...
Let me add, the album "Carnival Of Souls" had to be released because it was the most popular black market album ever bought. Their record company just through it out to the public without much advertising or any kind of KISS hype to promote it.
This version never should have broken up. When Kiss were musicians instead of a nostalgic image.
This version may not have broken up if they didn't do the Unplugged albums...
The real reason is Tommy can't play any of the solos.
They weren't making any money. They were literally trying to capitalize on the grunge craze with this album. 70's KISS will always rule Supreme.

i love this album they need to play these songs in concert.
Best album since Creatures!!!
+Carlton Armstrong Did you like Revenge? It's right up there for me, but I think you may be right about Carnival.
Good, but not as consonant as COS
Revenge was Kiss trying too hard (to be current and heavy) so it became bloated music, this album feels more natural old-school Kiss say Hotter Than Hell era. Actually, it's not that grungy just raw and more dirty sounding.
This lineup at the top of their game.
I also love this album....its one of my all time KISS favs
I Love Carnival of Souls 😎
Tape Trading gold for many. Then was officially released. If you know, you know. Still a killer album 🤘🔥🤘
how cool is this footage.didnt even know there was any for this album....great stuff
This footage is found on the DVD.
Hiiden like a cryptic message.
Great album!
I really can't understand why people hate this album so much, together with Revenge, it's my favorite album.
I love to hear the heavier KISS.
Don't get me wrong, the classics are classics.
But Jungle, In The Mirror, I Will Be, those are simply amazing songs!
I know they wouldn't be the same with 2012's KISS
But I'd personally love to see Paul singing "I Will Be There"
Only Him and the crowd
I'd be amazing and bring a nice feeling to everyone
Paul's vocal range is unbelievable
Its not the best kiss record niether the worst. When I listened to it for the first time back in the day, i was like... WTF, is this kiss? ....But It has aged well. Still listening to it today...
I love C.o.S. !!!
Thanks for uploading !
Let me add, the album "Carnival Of Souls" had to be released because it was the most popular black market album ever bought.
Their record company just through it out to the public without much advertising or any kind of KISS hype to promote it.
