I unironically love Grave Encounters. It's one of my favorite found footage films, even with the kinda meh and cliché special effects. The premisse is great and the horror of them seemingly being locked in a time and space bubble with exits just disappearing or hallways looping was pretty effective to me.
Loved the way you presented this! xD

      Right?
A friend and I watched it because we love cheesy movies that mock 'real' shows, and ended up LOVING it. I love the special effects, as ridiculous as they are - it sort of falls into the "oh, they just added them in for the show" at first, knowing what we do about Grave Encounters (the fictional show in the movie).
      It FELLS like a plant.
      Until it's not.
The second one, not so much, but the first was really fun.

I watched this movie for the first time when I was 14 with my older brother and his friends and it was and remains one of the only scary movies to genuinely scare me. Side tangent, about 6 years ago I was working at a diner that was open 24 hours and around 1am a black suv pulled up and a group of 5 guys came out of it. I sat them and got them some water and coffees but the whole time I was there with them I kept feeling as if I had seen them before. When the waitress went to serve them she came back to the kitchen all giddy asking if I knew who they were, I asked if they were a band because I knew I’ve seen them before but can remember where. She then informed me that it was the guys from Ghost Adventures. I didn’t get any pictures or anything because they looked beat to hell but when I told them I was a fan of the show they seemed very grateful to hear about it. Cool guys.

Fascinatingly enough. When I was younger, my friend and I started on the second one and then went to the first one (cause only the second was available on Netflix at the time until 1 came back). It made me appreciate the first one even more though cause I loved the story behind the asylum and how it had to be applied to staying at the asylum overnight. How everyone is a patient and if you encounter the Doctor you really will become crazy or dead because he will give you a lobotomy. Unless time in the asylum itself made you crazy.
Nothing and nobody is safe and everything is problematic. Believe it or not these 2 were the first movies that got me into horror movies that prioritized the story/lore. Kinda like the movie “Haunter” which was my first Story horror movie I watched after Grave Encounters. Grave Encounters has a place in my heart when it comes to horror movie storytelling cause it gave me the spark that inevitably lead to the fire.

I really liked the first movie. But to be completely honest, the part that blew me away was the early act, when they found out that the common rules in the universe, such as time and space don't work as it used to be. The rotten food, the misperception of time duration, the mismatch of the clock with what appeared from the window, and the hallway.. it was so terrifying. The ghosts on other hand are boring. I wonder if they executed the mystery like the typical Asian/Japanese horror movies. It could be even more haunting.

I've heard of the Grave Encounters movies but I've never seen them idk they just didn't look that Interesting to me , also Thrifty dude I'm on Season 5 of TWD and this show is truly amazing 🤘🔥 and I bought the Season 6 Blu-ray a few days ago and I just ordered the Season 7 Blu-ray, also just curious is the future seasons like Season 8 , 9, 10 and 11 worth buying physically because I've been a lot of fans say TWD get bad Season 8 onward ?

I’ve heard that watching it while you’re binging isn’t bad, but there is definitely a noticeable dip in quality after season 6. Some like 7 & 8 and a lot of people consider 9 to be one of the best, I’d say watch the seasons separately before buying them unless you’re like me and need the entire series even if it’s seasons you dont care for 😂

@@thethriftytypewriter yeah binge watching the show is really helping the experience and yeah I'm a collection competitionist too 😂 I just pre-ordered Season 7 on Amazon so this is the last season I'm gonna buy physically for now because I wanna see if I even like Season 6 and Season 7 before i even consider buying the rest of the seasons because from what I've heard these two seasons are the dropping off point

The movie would've been better had they'd gotten Zak Bagans in the main role

wasn't this a movie?? Oh okay... They made a sequel too.. and it is just as bad but it does continue the story. Thanks for doing them both.

So a "found footage" movie that has an EXTREMELY enthusiastic leader trying it proof of the supernatural video. The person in charge of the filming, disappears early in the movie and isn't found despite searching for him. They are unable to get out of their situation and wander around aimlessly attempting to do so. The actors had little to no acting credits for previous work. The second movie SUCKS and isn't worth watching. The movie is titled, "Blair Witch 3: It"s 20 years since the first movie, most people have forgotten it"
