You should put some wrapping paper around your box for donations. It will blend in better with your beautiful refreshed closet. It turned out really cute. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for subscribing to my channel, Hilary! I am so flattered! I love the wallpaper. I am *so far* from being ready to do things like decorate inside my closet, but it's giving me something to aspire to on my unslobbify journey! Maybe someday....a girl can dream!
Thanks for the inspiration Hilary. The combination of the streamlined wardrobe and the lovely wallpaper backdrop is perfection! Yet another example of how you so effortlessly combine beauty and functionality in your spaces. I really like how you tied the process to the idea of decision fatigue. I think the more we are able to streamline things like this the more we are able to release our burdens and free up time to be present for the things that really matter. Thanks for sharing. Have a lovely day 😊.
Great tips. I would add, for unused items to store, the plastic bags that can be rolled up after sealing to disspell air are wonderful. They are also great for traveling. They hold a great deal when dealing with small spaces and airline bags. For storage they can be stacked under beds, on a closet shelf or in bins. Thanks for the inspiration!!
You have great eye for design and organization. Decision fatigue is real! I am SAHM and this year I am purging my closet and will update with a Mom Uniform-couple jeans , v neck tees in neutral colors, and couple layering cardigans. Im so tired of trying to keep up with fashion. Just want to look put together in a simple way. Love the donation box idea!
Coming to you because of the Clutter Free January series. 😁 I REALLY appreciate that you weren't too precious about lining up the wallpaper pattern. A good reminder to my perfectionist self to ease up on needing to perfect everything. Thanks for that!
I’m so glad I found your Channel through the declutter series via Dawn at TMM. I feel like I learn something from everyone who is participating. I noticed that a few people accidentally hit the thumbs down button. It happens. Thanks for the great content. Enjoy your day!
That wallpaper is gorgeous!!! Oh goodness. It looks so great! You're always so great with all of your DIY projects! - You talking about decision fatigue ... gaaaaah. You're spot on. I need to declutter. asap.
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of so many youtubers doing the exact same thing at the same time. But I'm still watching yours, Hilary, because you are always practical and realistic. I *love* the contact paper. In the early '80s my mom was the contact paper queen. Her patterns always matched up exactly and she used the leftovers to make pretty accent pieces. I lived in a rental when I was first married that had the large kitchen backsplash covered in contact paper, in a checkerboard pattern, and none of it matched up at all. I can still see that red and yellow nightmare wall 😱🙃.
Thank you Kristyn, yes it can definitely be a beautiful accent or not so much 😅 We had to remove contact paper from our kitchen cabinets here and that was no fun! If ever I or someone else wanted to take this down it should be easy and damage free 💛
I love that your projects and goals are doable and reasonable, requiring an “average” skill level. Your home is cozy, lovely and so welcoming. Watching your videos is like having a visit with a friend. I love that! Your closet turned out beautifully and your explanation of how all of the daily decisions drain us makes a lot sense. You’ve inspired me to try the pared-down wardrobe to see if I miss the things I’ve tucked away. I’m definitely curious.
so great that you are participating in the january clutter challenge. i am enjoying the videos. you did a great job and i love the wallpaper. such sweet flowers. i love your practicality. blessings to you.
I love that idea of trying a capsule wardrobe by putting items you aren’t sure about in a box and if need be shopping your stash. I love the background wallpaper idea too! Thanks the ideas!
Thank you for sharing ☺️ Anything with wordrobe, capsule wordrobe and so on, I find that really interesting. ☺️ Ps. About what you said, about having a small closet. Here in Denmark (and maybe also in the whole of Scandinavia? ) it is not a tradition to have a walk in closet. We don't normally have that much space for clothes. Just a dresser and/or a clothes cabinets with 1-4 doors. It is a big luxery thing, to have a walk in closet. ☺️ An other funny little thing, that I just got to think about. I have seen, that many in the US have more then 1 bathroom in their homes. We normally only have 1 bathroom in every home here in Denmark. It is a big luxury to have 2 whole bathrooms. Some can maybe have a little "guest toilet". But there will not be a shower or bath in it. In my childhood we where 3 kids, 2 parents and 4 daycare kids, that shared 1 bathroom. In the weekends we where only 3 kids and 2 parents for 1 bathroom. But it was fine. We had no problems with it. ☺️ A pantry is also a big luxery thing to have here in Denmark. Instead we use the kitchen cabinets, that are in the kitchen. I live in an apartment and have 3 kitchen cabinets for my food supplies and a one door refrigerator/freezer in one. Thank you for sharing. Happy to learn new things and see what we have alike and what is different. ☺️ Sometime we can learn from each other and some times we get to appreciate more what we have. ☺️
What a lovely, unexpected pop! to the inside! I simply LOVE the little extras on the inside of the door! Those items make YOU happy and really, no one else goes in there, so why not?!?! I love those little "extras" you do for yourself! Self love ❤
Love the floral print paper. Closet looks beautiful. Maybe instead of cardboard box use a pretty basket for donations. You’re an amazing woman, love all your projects.
Use a cardboard box so you can just load it into the car and deliver it to the donation center without touching those items again. Once you decide to give it away, don’t second-guess yourself (decision fatigue!) by revisiting it later, which is what will happen if you have to transfer items from a basket to another container. Nice work on the wallpaper!
Nice mini-project that you get to enjoy everyday:) If I could suggest a tiny upgrade - replace the cardboard box with a nice basket & lid. That way it might look more finished (just line it with a bag that you can carry to the car). The wallpaper deserves it!
I love your channel...such practical advice and tips and you're very motivating. I love your closet and what a neat idea to put a bit of the wallpaper in the frame --creative!
Love your paired down and wallpapered closet ❤ So glad you are talking about decision fatique. For me after a serious brain injury, I get fatiqued with too much input. What you say is truly life changing! Why exhaust ourselves with choosing clothes! The journey towards more simple life is a bit lighter with videos like yours. Thank you for the motivation ❤
The wallpaper is not only lovely, but adds light to your closet, making it easier to see things in there [like a white lining in a purse]. I am so impressed with you on so many levels, dear one! Well done! xx
I have four cardboard boxes in our bedroom closet. I lightly spray painted two of them, and I covered two of them with contact paper. I know it doesn't really matter, but it gives a nice cohesive look to the closet. Love your video.
When I was younger I wall papered a lot. Haven't in years but your paper is so lovely I'm now wanting to wall paper my closet. Take care and stay safe.
Love the paper in your closet! So pretty. I was ready to paint my closet a bold color but now I have to rethink using a print. I agree wholeheartedly about decision fatigue. When my sons were young I’d give them two options to choose between (book to be read, outfit to wear, lunch items, etc) and now that they’re older I see them naturally limiting their options, making their final decision so much easier. I should have taught myself that trick!
That wallpaper is so pretty and perfect for that space. I also like a simplified collection of clothes. Too much stuff makes me feel stressed. Stay safe and best wishes from Australia 🤗
Love the pretty wallpaper! What a pleasant surprise to open the door and see spring no matter the weather outside is.It would certainly make me more inclined to keep my closet decluttered. I have way too many clothes, but I enjoy clothing variety!
The peel and stick looked so easy to use and it looks amazing! I am going to try and pick some of that up for my filming room. I'm just starting a new decluttering series and working my way back around my house for the 2nd time to minimise it, I find it's such an ongoing process! Great video again, Hillary xx
I'd love to see if you do! Yes absolutely, once the clutter's been tackled there's still the necessary maintenance. Just found your channel myself, to be honest your name drew my attention, but I've been enjoying catching up on your videos :)
Great makeover! You really make good use of a small space. Your door decorations are the perfect finishing touch. That closet would put a smile on my face each day too!
Thanks for the motivation to tackle my closet. I decluttered my sock drawer today, and what a difference that little improvement has made. Can't wait to get to the closet. The wallpaper looks great, by the way.
Catching up on missed videos, I love the closet, the wall paper is so lovely!! I'm starting to purge and organize, January is such an awesome month to do that and start the year right! I went through a clothing rack and found some dresses and a big bin of items my girls have been out of for years!!! LOL, you can see I'm in desperate need to do this! Thanks for all the tips, very inspiring! And I love your organized home.
Love your tips on wardrobe simplification. I’m coming to terms with my new “stay at home mom” wardrobe after 3 years and wanting to curate a uniform of sorts to make getting ready simple so I can move on with my day. Love your videos.
That's probably what would happen to me now. Ha ha. We should all try it and have someone tape us and put it on Hilary's channel. She could call it what not to do when wall papering.
Loved this video so much!! What a wonderful idea to paper a closet! 💐 Your choice of paper was just lovely! Everything is so tidy and organized. Very inspiring. Thank you, Hilary. 💕
So pretty and I so love the little touch with the picture frame. As always you do amazing work, thank you for sharing. God bless you and your sweet family........💞😊
What a sweet closet. I am definitely feeling like using a capsule wardrobe. I like the idea of storing things away in case you find yourself missing something you stored and shop from that. Thank you for taking the time to share!🙂
The wallpaper is really cute and fresh-feeling! 🌸😊✨ One thing that surprised me is - you wear pajamas twice and then wash them?!! Wow 😳 - I tend to wear most things multiple times, and never thought of washing pjs so quickly. Interesting.
Finally someone who has a closet as small as mine! However, I share my closet with my husband. So I have less than 2 feet of closet rod for myself, and my wedding dress hangs in there too 😬. We each also have a dresser. Honestly, it’s fine. I don’t need more space.
You are so organized I wish I could be that way I get that way then I mess it all up you are so inspirational thanks for sharing it looks beautiful love the wallpaper 💖
I'm a new subscriber. I found you last week through the clutter free challenge and immediately loved your channel! I love this idea for an easy way to make your closet beautiful!
A great refresh! Impressive consolidation of items. Love the little frame. It would be a wonderful place to include an intention word for 2021. Happy New Year!
What a cute idea to do the wallpaper! Thank you for inspiring me to declutter my closet. I usually donate anything I haven’t worn in the past year but that method isn’t working for me this year since I’ve only worn PJs and sweatpants. lol thank you also for the cinnamon ornaments idea. I made them with my grandchildren while I was visiting over the holidays and they enjoyed it!
Love the closet paper that’s a great touch I love how you minimized I just don’t know if I can go down to just that small of a wardrobe but I do Purge many things on a regular basis !!!
Great video 💕! A special thank you for showing how you did the beautiful wallpaper. I was thinking about doing this in my closet, with flowers 🌸 , of course!
I was going to suggest you cover the donation box with the left over wall paper but I do like the way you used it up in the frame. So pretty. Have a great day and thanks.
Hang on to that shoe horn. I am older and now I cannot get my shoes on without the help of a shoe horn. Hopefully that will not happen to you, but you have one in case it is ever needed. I so enjoy your videos since you like a lot of vintage things. I am vintage!. 😄
Lovey your tips and that wallpaper is so very pretty! Closet looks wonderful! So good to see you here, it’s tough getting used to not having a video every day after vlogmas! Thankyou for sharing Hilary !
You must have been peeking in my closet. I need to really purge, organize donate. Instead of having a very crowded unorganized space. There's certainly lots of tine to do it these days. Thanks, Hillary, 🤔🤗👏
Love it! Especially love that you have room to sweep your clothing to the sides so you can see your delightful wallpaper. I'm guessing you are already looking for a beautiful basket or bin to replace the no-longer-coordinating donation box?
I was thinking you should put a wicker basket in your closet for your donation stuff. That way once the basket gets full and you empty it out, your closet will always look nice and pretty.
Yes I’ve been looking for one of similar proportions for a while! One day I’ll find the right thing to replace it but the dimensions are just perfect for that spot
You should put some wrapping paper around your box for donations. It will blend in better with your beautiful refreshed closet. It turned out really cute. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Brittany!

That wallpaper is gorgeous!!! Oh goodness. It looks so great! You're always so great with all of your DIY projects! - You talking about decision fatigue ... gaaaaah. You're spot on. I need to declutter. asap.
Yes girl, when you’re being asked “why?” seven thousand times a day, I don’t want to spend more than one minute getting dressed 😅

Beautiful wallpaper choice Hilary! A well kept wardrobe makes all the difference, great job my friend 🌹
Such a great idea Hillary. Your closet refreshment is like a breath of fresh air!
What a great idea Hilary to use the sticky back paper in the wardrobe, brightened the whole cupboard up x
Hillary consider covering your perpetual donation box with a coordinating paper too! It will be even more cheery
I love that your projects and goals are doable and reasonable, requiring an “average” skill level. Your home is cozy, lovely and so welcoming. so great that you are participating in the january clutter challenge. i am enjoying the videos. you did a great job and i love the wallpaper. such sweet flowers. i love your practicality. blessings to you.
You should cover with wallpaper or similar paper your donation box. Make it pretty as well. Good job!

So smart to use a donate-able box.
You are a true treasure Hilary 💗

It’s just beautiful I love your eye for detail it really is all in the small touches x
You should cover your cardboard donation box in that contact paper too 😉
So lovely. I also reduced my clothes by 80% and it makes life so much easier. Another great video!💗
The wallpaper is really pretty with the wood. I love it! I think small closets are cute.
I love your channel...such practical advice and tips and you're very motivating. I love your closet and what a neat idea to put a bit of the wallpaper in the frame --creative!
Thanks so much Hillary..you motivate me to do it to my closet and it’s really nice and different....so inspiring

I was gonna say she could maybe use some of the extra wallpaper on that box.
@@tammyjohnson145 That's a great idea! She didn't have much wallpaper left, but I bet it would be enough to cover the part of the box that showed.
Love how your closet came out, it’s so organized.
Wow! So well done Hilary!
When I was younger I wall papered a lot. Haven't in years but your paper is so lovely I'm now wanting to wall paper my closet. Take care and stay safe.

Hilary: Your closet update, looks so pretty. Bless you for sharing all your heart smiles. Faye
I would order another roll of wallpaper and cover the shelves You are so amazing and inspiring 🌵

Good Morrrrrning 💃
You bring calmness and simplicity to everyday life 🌿 Thank you !
Really pretty. My wardrobe's organised but has too much in it. This has inspired a clear out and visual makeover this weekend!
I copied your idea of keeping a donation box in my closet. It's working great for me. Love the wallpaper in your closet.
It’s so great having that designed spot! 💛
The peel and stick looked so easy to use and it looks amazing! I am going to try and pick some of that up for my filming room. How beautiful! Love the wallpaper! And your simple, uncluttered closet!
That wallpaper looks beautiful ❤️ you did a good job Hilary 👏👏

You are making the wallpapering look easy. If I were doing it, I would have accidentally wrapped myself up in it, never to be seen again!
😂
Same here! Lol.
That's probably what would happen to me now. Ha ha. We should all try it and have someone tape us and put it on Hilary's channel. She could call it what not to do when wall papering.

I just love the lovely paper you put into your closet. Your wardrobe looks amazing!
Great information, I’m going to try this! The wallpaper is a happy pattern, love it! 💗
Love this idea Hilary! Looks fabulous. 👍🏻❤️

I have been debating doing this in my hall closet. You’ve given me to confidence boost I needed!
Great idea on how to get started on a capsule wardrobe. I'm going to try it. I feel very overwhelmed in my closet and this might help! Thanks :)
Pretty Wallpaper!

Beautiful wallpaper and closet❤️
A great refresh! Impressive consolidation of items. Love the little frame. It would be a wonderful place to include an intention word for 2021. Happy New Year!
OMG the back of the door is precious!!! Nice work 😊
As always good quality content from you Hilary. I love that wallpaper, so pretty x
It turned out beautifully! Always inspiring- thanks for sharing!
Sharing! ♥️
I love that wallpaper! Such a great idea! ❤️
Your closet looks fabulous! Great job! I love your organization!
It was very straightforward and easy to reposition as needed, highly recommend 💛
Loved this. Your closet looks beautiful!
Lovely job, Tfs! I also keep a perpetual donation bin.
Very pretty wall paper 💜💜
The wallpaper is beautiful xx
Love it! Especially love that you have room to sweep your clothing to the sides so you can see your delightful wallpaper. I'm guessing you are already looking for a beautiful basket or bin to replace the no-longer-coordinating donation box?
Yes I have been for a while! Everything I’ve come across is too small or too shallow, the proportions of this ugly box are just so perfect 😅
@@OldWorldHome You could cover your ugly donation box with more contact paper in a co-ordinating colour.
hi beatiful the hubby is gonna help me with my closet i love your home
That wallpaper is so pretty!!
Thanks Erica!
