this games' performance and overall graphics are super dependent on a multitude of different factors. first of all, its a very cpu intensive game, meaning that if your cpu isn't good enough it might be holding back whatever gpu your using. different planets and different difficulties also matter a lot too. Higher diffs means more enemies, typically more players and all of this chaos adds to the processing that your system needs to go through, this is amplified if your on any kind of planet that is hard for the game to render, like swamp planets, or stuff like that. volumetric fog and sky chew up a lot of your gpu btw, I have them way down and they dont actually do all that much imo. render distance also has a caveat, since it basically increases the amount of workload both your cpu and gpu have to render if you're using higher settings, so even if you have a good cpu, you might want to still keep it medium or low imo.
@@DarkWateerrr lol, I mean, the problem with this game's performance is simply just the messy code and how unoptimised it is for pc. I imagine it works really well on ps5 for this reason. Another thing is that apparently the game simulates EVERYTHING, meaning every termind head or leg you shoot off that twitches after, or every bot that explodes/shreds has to be simulated individually. which makes for really immersive and amazing to play gameplay but it does add a whole lot of workload on any system really lmao. all this being said. I LOVE the game, for Super Earth!

@@DarkWateerrr ok so i finally had time to try out your settings and by the looks of it it help by like 10fps. Not much but now instead of playing 30/40fps i play 40/50 so that's nice. @DarkWateerrr idk how check it but I have it at 90 as the frame limit and I played around with it and I feel like the sweet spot is between 90 to 120 but I'm not sure how many number differences makes a difference

Make sure your laptop is not throttling. Helldivers really make laptops sweat. In my case, setting temp limit for CPU and lowering cpu boost setting in Windows helped. It may be running on slightly lower clocks but still higher than when throttling. Using Radeon 6800m in laptop I rarely drop below 50 fps even on highest difficulty and 4 players.
Also I noticed that GPU clocks are running low sometimes, especially on the mission start cinematic, thats why it lags so much. Looks like a game problem, because my GPU temps are not very high when it underclocks.
