Enjoyed your video .You sounded natural and did your thing with confidence. That's what matters. I would also like to suggest that you look for line table screen printing. It's always in some Asian language, but trust me it's technical and you''ll understand it anyway. That's what I'm doing in Kenya and the advantage is the you'll be able to do multi color printing in no time and for a fraction of what it takes to buy a brand name screen printing press. STAY BLESSED AND KEEP ON HUSTLIN'.
Looks wonderful! As long as the shirts turn out how you want it, the method does not matter. Cool video and thanks for sharing how to make the scree printing.
you don't need to do the emulsion in the dark, just low light. It's UV light or sunlight that affects them not a lightbulb. No need to have dark room just be away from sunlight
Don't use halogen lighting though because that does have UV light in it... but actually halogen flood lights are a good alternative to exposing using the sun and much more controlled
The art conservation method for stretching canvas and canvas plyers would be beneficial. To use this you would staple each side with one or two staples in the middle applying a fair amount of tension. Then you work your way out the canvas stapling 1/2 of the canvas to the right or left in one direction. You do this a few staples at a time, rotating to the next face on the same side of the staples until you reach the corners. THEN you come back to center staples and do the same thing in the opposite direction. This works better than starting at the corners because you avoid putting excessive tension in the corners where they occasionally rip or rip over time while the middle stays taught....working as your doing really only works for EXTREMELY flexible material which this may be. About to order some after watching this!!!
Mark had a great comment about using low light and not dark. The emulsion is nit that sensitive. I do want to mention that because you are using a positive image and exposing it to make a negative image … exposing it longer will make the spokes of the tires thinner not thicker. So if you need to make an adjustment in exposure, expose it less. Other things to think about are how dark is the image you are using to expose onto the emulsion? And if the original image is not touching the emulsion completely, light will undercut the image … perhaps making the spokes of your art appear thinner.
Hi ! Great video. I’m in the process of printing T-shirt’s and I feel I need to make the press to really be accurate and do a good job. And one thing that’s blowing my mind and I can’t figure out is how the screen is positioned perfectly? Or do you just drill the hinge clamps in a certain height up depending on where you want the print to be on the shirt ? If that makes sense plz let me know. I’d appreciate it a lot, again great video, thanks !
So when you expose them you have to pre measure and know your spacing on your shirts and find your center lines on your art, screens and on your press and mark them with a sharpie ... and when you tape your artwork to the screens you just have to line them up... now real professional screen printers add printer marks to the transparency to line up to the pre made marks on their exposure units
@@ArizonaLifestyles1 ah, thing is I will be getting a company to expose my screen, do you think what I said would work? Make the actual press itself, get everything lined up with the screen, mark where the hinges need to go and drill them in ?

Shari- yes you have to put a lot of staples , go slow and use a board to stretch it over , and if it’s not tight , yes you have to start over and stretch it really tight
Hahaha! I kinda enjoyed your video, and I could tell you were a little nervous when you were about to spread the ink before printing. I also watched the The Print Life video and produced my own DIY press to start my own one colour print brand. I have gotten almost all the items required to start but I can't seem to get any liquid pallet adhesive in any screen printing store around my locality, even online. Great video by the way.
Yup, first time printing was on camera.... try a fabric store or michaels etc it’s just spray adhesive... unless you are printing on thick hoodies or sweatshirts then get thick web spray adhesive
@@ArizonaLifestyles1 Unfortunately, stores here in my country don't even know what pallet adhesive is. Quite disappointing. Had to order from Amazon but it took weeks before it came down and now I'm almost out. Could you recommend a cheap but better online store.....since I'm working on a budget here or is there a diy for pallet adhesive? Thanks
Did you get any ripples around the edge of your screen? I have tried this 2x and got the screen pretty tight but ended up with some ripples around the edges
pine 2x2’s for the frames and I had 1/2 plywood scrap laying around for the platen and a scrap piece. Of a pine 2x6 for the support underneath and a couple scrap 2x4s for support … other than the plywood everything was construction grade pine
Just the cheap blue emulsion I ordered on Amazon to get started then second one I actually went to a print shop and talked to them about a easy to use emulsion for beginners… I don’t know the kind
The one ting you did wrong, is your pulling from side to side of the frame, better to pull or push (what you prefer) from back to front or vice versa, otherwise nice vid
That why you have to pull it tight the first time :) they seem to work over the last year :) lots of staples … I look back and it may be easier to go to a print shop and buy used screens … thanks for watching

I use to screen print for a company here in Western New York and had a ball doing it. I just might have to make a unit of my own. Great job.
I’m sure with your experience you’ll know some cool trade experience that will make it even better

Give it a try … this is good way to start then go to a 4 color press and on and on … my hint for ya get a good dryer the heat gun is inconsistent
Always start in the middle,😊

Not so sure about getting the screen fully taught? You would have to start over with new screen if it was not tight enough, correct?

Try fabric adhesive from fabric stores …sewing stores .. you just need a little spray adhesive to make it sticky
Great work sir
Great job . All the best 😍😍

As you staple the screen I had to pull pretty hard to get ripples out .... also don’t pull too hard it’ll rip

look at how i stretch my screens Hipcat Screenprinting
I think exposing longer would mean more detail would be lost on the spoked, not less
Ok thanks
Enjoyed the vid but you really need to get a bigger squeegy. That half and half pulling could throw the print off

Plastisol style ink that can work with up to 50/50 cotton blend ... ask your local print shop they’ll help you like they did me

Hello sir i want to buy this how can
Why buy when you can make it yourself?
Much better if you use 12 inches squeegee than 9 inch... But this video is helpful....goodluck
