@@jonaskoelker That year maybe... But the Academy has often snubbed deserving women directors like Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty), Barbra Streisand (Yentl), Greta Gerwig (Little Women), Lulu Wang (The Farewell), Celine Sciamma (Portrait of a Lady on Fire) and many more
@@aameyadevansh4246 By "snubbed" I assume you mean that there weren't other directors who were more deserving who got nominated ahead/instead of those particular women (whose work I don't know)-but rather, that the work of the women you point to was unjustly un(der)-nominated because of gender. Is that something you can substantiate? Of course, if by "snubbed" you mean simply that they were not nominated, and that this is unjust, then a just world has at most five female directors each year, otherwise at least one of them has to be snubbed-and similarly at most five actresses, visual effect artists, composers, etc.; surely this is not the world you want. And it gets even worse: if it's unjust to snub women its unjust to snub men, so the total number of men plus women in each category has to be such that everyone gets nominated. Also, do you happen to know the gender composition of the set of top directors? If it's 90%/10% we would expect an all-male set of 5 nominees every 6 times out of 10 just by chance alone (or 59.05/100 to be exact).
He is far past the previous record for oldest working Hollywood director, which was George Cukor, who worked up to the age of 83. Of course, the oldest working director ever was Manoel de Oliveira, who worked up until his death at the age of 106 in 2015... yet, seeing how Clint just keeps going, he may very well be able to beat that.
I admire Gene Hackman for retiring when he did. Most actors keep going for too long and it just becomes embarrassing. But guys like Hackman, Nicholson and Connery knew when to call it quits and bowed out with class.
The best in Hollywood are gone or near gone. There is a reason it was called the golden age of Hollywood. Nothing today comes close to the class and glamour of Hollywood back in the day. 🎬
He always deserved the Oscar. He is one of the most unforgettable actors that people must respect his unique career and clean humanity. I hope he rewards for his labore. He labored too much since the old times. Morgan and Gene are very fascinating too.
Million dollar baby was too. He is something else, no doubt about that. From the Beguiled to dirty Harry, Pale Rider. You talk about a body of top shelf work! He's got street cred for days too. Love that guy.
Funny how it cuts to Tim Robbins after Clint says thank you. 11 years later, Tim would win best supporting actor in the film Mystic River, directed by Clint.
Love the look of pure Joy for Clint on Morgan Freeman,s face. Another screen legend is his own right and my favorite black actor. NOBODY COMES CLOSE TO MORGAN FREEMAN WHEN HE,S ON. SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION was another masterpiece.
Not only getting the best director Oscar, for the best picture that year, that he also starred in, but accompanied by the theme he composed for movie also. Like a boss.
Barbra Streisand was such an underrated beauty in her day. Absolutely ravishing in the mid 1960s and 1970s. Just a gorgeous classy looking woman here in 1993. Girl done well.
*We must prize quality. The pure quality. It means who are really the five best. Not just for the inclusion of sexuality or race or gender or what ever. (Remember that!)* *PS: Why did you upload this video again?*
The spaghetti westerns are required viewing before engaging in Unforgiven. The courage to deconstruct your own myth is something we rarely see. Let alone the vision to build something from those remnants. The man with no name that killed everything that walked the earth bleeds too. Amazing film.
I agree the Unforgiven is to some extend a deconstruction. However, the spaghetti westerns was all about the dream of the west, the bad guys getting their come-uppance, the invincible, stoic, opportunistic but ultimately righteous ideal of man that every boy at some point aspires to be. The man with no name was a (nigh cartoonic) epithome of a hero, flawed but with his principles intact. Unforgiven was depicting reality. This isn't the man with no name. It's the bleak story of trying to bury the monster inside which is only waiting for the right time to reveal that a killer will always be a killer. And that given the proper circumstances, that monster could be anyone. There's no redemption, only living in denial to then finally circle back to what you really are. Killing another killer (and a handful of men who probably was subservient to one killer out of fear, only to die at another one's hand) for a skewed sense of justice is a very debatable morale. To me the main message of Unforgiven is something along these lines: Change takes something bigger than yourself and might not be change but just a mask if you don't see yourself for what you are.

The great Christopher Lee once said if there is one director he would love to work with, it’s Clint Eastwood..unfortunately it didn’t happen.
Sadly 😔 that would have Been awesome 👍
He'd have been perfect as English Bob.
Well, he can almost make a Christopher Lee biopic and it would be close enough.
Morgan Freeman looked thrilled for him which was great to see.
he deserve an Oscarr this year for making a movie and being 89 yo😲 damn

Unforgiven is Unforgettable
Guilherme Marques not quite
Unforgiven was a beast of a western.
Hackman, freeman and eastwood are my favorites!
well done clint! unforgiven is terrific.
"The trouble is with living this long as you know so many people and you can't remeber their names." Clint Eastwood
If you let Jennifer Aniston dry in the sun for a week, you get Barbra Streisand.

great
i thought it was aniston at first glance, glad someone pointed that out
I get confused every time I see those two.

Both Clint and Gene Hackman are turning 90 this year. Saddens me to think how little time they have left.
He might live for another 15 years and make 5 more films. Guy still works out almost every day.
Why be sad? They have had great lives and lived for a long long time. They should be celebrated.
