    So that's how it's done. I've been seeing these used in my city probably for about 20 years now. Besides normal fiber the city is installing fiber networks to allow traffic signals to be controlled by computer and also each major intersection has a surveillance camera monitored by police.

    Question: Do you guys stay parallel with the ground for long distances and even if theres a big difference in elevation from point A to B. Lets say you need to maintain a 6 foot depth.

    • @lifeinthevalley14
      @lifeinthevalley14  11 месяцев назад +4

      We usually stay around 1.5 meters so around 5 foot and ya we will steer and go with the grade of the ground to maintain the 1.5 meters

    • @lifeinthevalley14

      We are only at one spot for about a hour and then on to the next and Legally we can’t open the road it’s a special permit that’s hard to get for that kind of work and when we’re working with the drill traffic can still go bye without a issue

    Is the orange line hollow or is the fiber already in it? If hollow how is the fiber threaded?

    • @lifeinthevalley14
      @lifeinthevalley14  Год назад +1

      It’s just a pipe they take a air compressor and a dart and that’s attached to a string then they blow it through to the other end then they tie the fiber to the mule tape aka string and then pull the fiber line threw.

    Very interesting. Do you always have to start at a low point, or can you drill for example downhill from a high elevation with no problem too?

    • @lifeinthevalley14
      @lifeinthevalley14  10 месяцев назад +2

      You can drill from a high point too no problem a lot depends on how much room you have to set up and what ground your running in too.

    Locates. Locates. Locates. I didnt see any white paint marks that indicate you called in locates to check the area. Since you didn’t mention anything about first verifying that there are no other utilities around, I am assuming your crew didn't consider this at all. Ive run across many scenarios where contractors (typically sub) don't know any better and start drilling into the ground without calling locates first and they hit something…like our duct package that has multiple cables in it, or a 864 trunk cable in a 4". After you hit a 911 cable that runs along the highway and someone investigates what had happened to cause the outage, insurance might not cover you and there goes your company…down the drain and into the ditch.
