Hans Zimmer not returning for Gladiator 2 is my villain origin story.
I like Harry Gregson-Williams, mostly for the first Shrek.
Are you guys ever making another Oscars retrospective?
I think that's for patreon
@@virgiliomartinezerickson8044the patreon is no more, OE shut it down like 6 months ago
@@virgiliomartinezerickson8044 they don't use patreon anymore I don't think
Dune Part Two sweeps EVERYTHING 🧡🔥🧡🔥🧡🔥🧡
I still can’t imagine Robert Zemeckis making anything well liked let alone close to the Oscar’s in 2024
Hard agree. They're giving Here way too much credit IMO.
Idk how people can be so confident in another Zemeckis gimmick film after Marwen & Pinocchio
I don't think he is bad , he just went with the corporate way unfortunately
Dune 2 is gonna sweep in every tech category. It's not even a discussion
Brother Bro not being for the Challengers score was not on my bingo card and kind of hurt 😢
Oh how generous of the oscar expert to assume gladiator 2 will be a big 100 million dollar film... considering the films budget ballooned up to over $300 million 😅
THANK YOU SO MUCH for the history feature !! I’ve been taking screenshots to record my predictions 💀
Are you guys going to make a reaction video to your old Oscar predictions from last year?
For Costumes I’m somewhat compelled by Blitz cause Jacqueline Durran is the costume designer for that movie, she did get nominated for Darkest Hour and Cyrano and is of course a 2 time winner 9 times nominee in the category.
I wonder how Alien: Romulus will do in future VFX talks
Curious to hear you focus so much on transforming actors with prosthetics but giving Beetlejuice the edge over Dune, despite how much attention has been paid to the work done on Skarsgård and Butler (and they aren’t the only actors, there are others with prosthetics). Especially if Beetlejuice isn’t a box office breakout, I don’t see the Academy at large getting behind anything more than they will Dune - which did NOT win for Part One.
We’ll think we know what’s happening in cinematography and then the ASC will pull some shit
What about Alien: Romulus being a contender for vfx? Prometheus got a nom. I know the franchise hasn’t being cited since then but still.
I want Alien Romulus to win, but Dune 2 is a strong rival…..
@@Bryanma0119 Romulus isn’t winning. I’d bet my car on that. I feel like if it gets in it’ll be in 5th place. Just because it’s not going to be an across the board contender.
Makeup and Hair is actually a bake-off category, I don’t know if it ever was before but it is now. If certain films do well at the bake-off I will consider them.
I would keep eyes out for Alien Romulus for VFX. The first 2 Alien movies won VFX and the use for its practical effects looks outstanding.
The Northman was completely snubbed despite being the obvious best cinematography imo. I want Nosferatu to get nominated, but I don’t believe it will get nominated (even if it deserves to win).
"Being green is not a big deal"
Kermit the Frog: "...and I took that personally"
The Pinocchio movie was Italian, not French.
I think people are underestimating Kinds of Kindness in cinematography, having seen the movie the work there is incredible striking, with a mix of vibrant color and black and white, which the branch loves. It's also a very esoteric branch that has nominated movies like Bardo and El Conde, and we know they like Yorgos and Robbie having nominated them twice with Robbie even winning BSC. Not sure they get nominated, but it should be in the Top 13 above a lot of these movies no one has seen.
OMFG!!!!!!! WHERE IS ANIMATED FEATURE??????!!!!!!!!!! WTF RIGHT?!
Thats my most anticipated category, as i really dont care bout these weird indie films
Love these pics overall. Question on Sound - considering Sing Sing is a BP frontrunner and a musical, shouldn't it be considered a heavy contender?
It‘s not a musical.
And no actual BP frontrunner despite what the delulus think here.
Do we all still believe in Sing Sing taking it all the way home?
Ummm, N-n-no I think at best it's got a solo Best Actor win & about 8 nominations
Dune I think is going to get the TG Maverick treatment & get 7 nods & 1 win for sound
I think Anora is taking it home for picture
Despite the subject matter I can see it
Needs SAG
I’m really really scrambled on what’ll win Best Picture, Dune part 2 could but it won’t win off of just techs, Denis would need to win Director.
So yes I’m going with Sing Sing for now, I think a lot of people here are dismissing it too much
Furiosa

@@ClassicalMusic2002 yea most likely
The Substance getting an Oscar nomination would be amazing
Not happening 💯
It’s a disgusting, bloody, extreme body horror with no story of substance ironically.
The way many people are trying so hard to underplay joker 2 😅
let's be serious here, 'challengers' score is not exactly SOPHIE or brat, it's little bit more than a cheap EDM gym music
Here is not getting anything. Stop
Did they just like skip the acting video or what?
ruclips.net/video/JchIitZhZzs/видео.htmlsi=hlREK6lEVbEUYfLK
Acting predictions? They posted lead actor / actress in April and supporting actor / actress in May.
To be fair, not much has changed since April/May except for Mikey Madison coming onto the scene
@@leighx2169yeah and they gotta do a new one for their recent series of predictions
Emilia Perez deserves a best production design nomination
This was filmed in France, and somehow their team made it look like my country Mexico in there
Spencer was 98% shot in Germany

It feels very possible that _Deadpool & Wolverine_ could be unanimously loved across the board--$1 billion at the box office, 80 on Metacritic, A+ CinemaScore, even Letterboxd brings themselves to like it--and be the defining movie of 2024 in pop culture. And the Oscars won't even give it a single nomination.
That's the way that it is
What the hell are you talking about? This is a joke, right?
Movies don’t deserve nominations bc they are popular
😂😂😂 The director is Shawn Levy. He won’t define anything for anybody.
I was going to say Dennis Quiad could finally have his moment & gain a #5 supporting actor slot for The Subsitute but since hes playing Ronald Reagan & has recently become a vocal if slightly reluctant Trump supporter
I think all bets are off there
It’s The Substance and his character is a dumb caricature of a human. Forget any Oscars or nominations for The Substance!
Deadpool & Wolverine is getting into VFX. It's gonna save movie theaters, and this will be the way to reward it. Also, wild card, I have it at #5 in adapted screenplay. The last time Hugh Jackman dawned the claws, it got that nod, and the first one was close.
Living in fantasy land with your wild card pick.
No movie can save movie theatres. But it will be a hit.
The money is the reward. Not the nomination
U wrong boi
Nice joke. Why would VFX people (who vote for the nominations, not the whole Academy) wanna vote for box office success vs. what they think is good work. And comparing Logan to this cash grab is already delulu
@@pb.j.1753 you do realize No Way Home got in, right? People have also been wanting to see these 2 lead a movie for YEARS, and they’re not changing the end of Logan.
@@zacharyjohnston1957how do you know No Way Home got a nom for Box office and not because the Vfx work is any good? It received 3 nominations from the Visual Effects Society already so its Oscar nomination was no surprise whatsoever.
How the fuck do your parents tell you two apart?
I don't want to see Dune in any category.
Of course you two things have that take regarding AI. Ewwww
An Indian Film Called "The Goat Life" Could Be A Surprise in
Cinematography, Makeup & Hairstyle, International Film, Score,
Sound, Song & Best Actor As Well. It's The Goat Life Vs All We Imagine As Light for oscar submission from india as of now.
Not. Marketing team is fooled you The goat life has no chance
Nice joke
I respect diverging views on AI, but a big part of the pushback is about how the models are trained by scraping data without consent.
I dont think Furiosa is getting a VFX nomination. There were many instances in the movies where the CGI was very noticeable and, i might add, very bad. For me, Furiosa will get at most 2 nominations, Sound and Makeup. And I am even not sure about those two.
Speaking of VFX, Dune 2 is my current front runner. It will definitely be nominated. Kingdom of the Apes is a lock and I think Mufasa too.
For those 4th and 5th slot, my personal choices are Twisters and Alien: Romulus. The CGI in Twisters looks absolutely amazing from the promos and Alien franchise has a very good track record in terms of VFX. 4 out of 6 Alien movies received nominations and 2 of them won. So, i am pretty hopeful about them.
My picks for Best Visual Effects :-
*Alien: Romulus
*Dune: Part Two
*Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
*Mufasa: The Lion King
*Twisters
I also have Alien Romulus getting into some of the techs. I think the Oscar predictors are really underestimating horror this year.
I was surprised Alien Romulus wasn't in any of their shortlists. Maybe it misses the VFX and gets into Production Design due to extensive use of animatronics?
Very good analysis
You guys have way too much faith in Robert Zemeckis, this is the guy who directed Pinocchio just two years ago (the bad one)
this is insane, i've never been this early 😭
I think horror is going to big time sneak into the techs this year. How y’all feel about Here, is how I feel about Nosferatu. I also think Alien Romulus is going to do well.
That would be refreshing. I've heard really good things about The Substance.
Unfortunately, films by David and Brandon Cronenberg, and others who employ considerable practical effects, often are overlooked.
Furiosa was a huge commercial disappointment, so sad.
Go woke go broke!
@@kleins-v7vshut up
Still can't believe it was removed from theaters after just two weeks. The other film that I know was pulled out that was also in two weeks was that god-awful Jem and The Holograms movie.
@@kleins-v7v🤡 clown comment, that movie had great acting, costumes, sets, direction and attention to detail and you’re complaining about a female lead, crawl back to your basement.
@@kleins-v7vwhat was woke about it?😂
sayombhu is unfortunately not doing the cinematography for Queer. doesn’t mean it won’t be nominated (especially since it’s james friend who did all quiet). however just something of note.
Crazy to think there’s a world where Dune wins 9 Oscars but doesn’t get Best Picture
Dune won the most number of Oscars of that year and wasn’t nominated for Director and was nowhere near winning Picture. So Dune 2 winning x number but not the top prizes would not be surprising to me at all.
I think El Conde‘s cinematography thing was Arri building a native b&w Alexa Mini, which would inevitably have happened sometime, but the did it for Lachman. But Lachman is also involved with rehousing lenses used by Orson Welles in the 1940s, and that was part of the narrative about El Conde‘s special b&w cinematography.
What was the narrative around The Lighthouse‘s sole Cinematography nomination, also black and white movie
Is that meant as a question, or do you mean El Conde didn’t need to have a “narrative” in order to get a sole cinematography nom?
The Lighthouse had universal positive reception at Cannes. That’s something of a narrative. Besides that, it had an authentic silent era extra narrow aspect ratio, and it can’t have hurt that it was shot on film.
Furiosa should absolutely be nominated for visual effects.
Challengers is NOT dead for score
Wtf is deadpool and wolverine?!:
Best picture
Director
Supporting actor hugh jackman
Visuals
Cimenatography
Score
Sound
Production
Costumes
Makeup
Film editing
.....
Joker is going to make a couple hundred million (a billion?) and that is going to help it.
I don’t think Furiosa will get visual effects but that might be my own bias showing. Outside of whatever goofy voice Chris Hemsworth was doing (Tom Hardy as Bane didn’t work for me either 😅), I thought the visuals were really weak in a movie I otherwise liked.
It’s so easy to see the screen backgrounds after the onset glory of Fury Road and I think Academy Members will see it. I’m confident it gets Makeup and Hairstyling and it deserves to. I think the costumes could be recognized as well.
Have you done best animated feature film
Yeah they also put Dune at 1.
@@thetraveldrunkshuddup
The AD moment where you guys stop to take care of the Kitty Kat, adorable. What's her name?
Horror movies nominated for best makeup that were not vampire or werewolf films:
The Cell
Beetlejuice
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein
I want to see them do International Feature, Animated Feature, and the documentaries next.
Are you Sure about Sayomphu is DP of Queer?
U people believe in sing sing so much why?
Remember mass? Huge talented ensemble cast, importance subject matter, indie style dirrcting etc everything the academy loves. It faded before award season started
This is so different you have no idea. Also A24 is behind Sing Sing while Mass didn’t
Sing Sing is this year's A24 contender, it's completely different.
First thing in order is for Sing Sing to flop at the box office
I would not rule out Dune 2 being snubbed in Cinematography. There could be a sense that the franchise has been rewarded here. Think of LORD OF THE RINGS. Only the first installment was nominated (and won) and the sequels were not (Cinematography was the only major technical category (apart from Sound Editing) where it wasn't nominated during the RETURN OF THE KING sweep).
You’re high asf. The gladiator scene alone secured a nom. LOTR did not have a scene that unique from a visual standpoint imo
@@anthonydupre8895you don’t understand cinematography
@@Lamidemonami7891 Ok, Lubezki, lecture us on how you understand cinematography. :/
I think Cinematography is one of the categories Dune 2 is MOST likely to get nominated for, only behind VFX and Sound
Same thing with Score. Howard Shore was snubbed because his score for Two Towers was similar to Fellowship, but was eligible thanks to the rule being postponed, but didn't have a nomination.
Ur app is pointless. It’s a goldderby ripoff
Why hate? It’s a Friday, spread love, don’t like something? It’s not hurting you, ignore it
first!
brother bro is sexy 😭
i swear, y'all need to do your research, Wicked is almost all practical sets
Grand Tour I would consider for cinematography
I think you guys are championing Here too much. It’s Robert Zemeckis. His “best” is still not that great
His best earned him a picture win and a director win and a screenplay win lmao
@@marcochen9117 30 years ago
@@RB-.- he said his “best” which is Forrest Gump which did all that. Don’t think anyone is questioning his current mediocrity.
