You can pop the bubbles by giving a light spray of mold release on the resin right after pouring. Breaks the surface tension.
Thank you so much... I was just simply looking for a way to make a mold for my own Fidget Spinner... Then found your videos... I am so inspired to do so many things that I never even thought of... My life has been kind of crazy lately and I've felt down... But after watching what you do, I feel so inspired... Cannot wait to see all that I can create... Thank you again for this great video....
Hey Ricky X! I'm so glad that my videos help and encourage you! I get into funks as well and the art does seem to pick me up and out of that rut! Good luck with your spinner project!
That was astonishing ,Wow! this is my first time I am looking at a molding put together. I am not into molding/sculpture of any kind. But it was fun to watch. Thank you.
Amazing watching that flash. Inspired!
Awesome The Atari Creep! Glad ya liked the video!!!
Thanks for the video! Just getting into casting and this helps
Awesome video. I would have a blast painting Rotten Ron, it looks like a fun sculpt.
Thank you RobbiLee100! He is a fun paint and I am thinking of offering him as a kit so you could paint him anyway you would like!
Very clean seamline, great job!
Thank you Milorad! Seamlines are such a pain sometimes lol! I love it when they just flake off!
You should have a contest for these amazing sculptures
Cool to come across this
Great video, question, Can I use the smooth cast 320 just around the walls, I mean not full solid casting? I want to save material and that way I use less resin
Just subbed! Glad I found your channel - seeing how these products get made is SUPER interesting and rad AF!
Hey Totally Horror! I'm glad you found my channel too! I appreciate the sub and I returned the favor buddy! Glad you enjoy the videos and I have a TON more coming!
I'm pretty sure I just witnessed magic in front of me LOL. That sculpt looks amazing! Where do you sell
Lol! Glad you liked that Totally Horror! So I do have a web site but it's kind of baron at the moment as the last show was very good to me! I do plan on restocking VERY soon but until then, you can check out my site at www.tobywaynestudios.com and you can see most of my work at instagram.com/tobywaynestudios Hope this helps ya and if you see something you like, let me know!
Awesome!!!! I definitely want a magnet when they come back in
Cool bro! Hoping to get more stuff in real soon Totally Horror!
I use a long flute bar-b-q grill lighter to remove bubbles from the Smooth On 320 series resin.
That’s a great idea +Glenn May! I’ve heard of this but never tried it!
Hi☺ Thank you so much for the great vídeos!! What kind of resin you use?
Looks great Toby
Thanks Dan's Scale Model Creations! I always love it when the resin castings are a SUCCESS!!!
I plan on using this to cast figures should I go for the 300 or 320 ? Does the number even matter ?
What tool are you using to clean the flashing?
Awesome ...I had a thought after watching the first video when you made the original mold ... any reason why you can't put the mold back into an identical plastic cup rather than use rubber bands to hold together for your casting ? I'm thinking it would be applying 100% inward pressure.
That’s a great thought! I could have, but I believe I ran out of that cup I had been using and just didn’t make it out to pick up more cups! Thanks Patrick!
Have you ever done these in hard plaster, like hydrostone or hydrocal? just curious.
I haven't DARK RIDE - Nightmare on Wheels-I do have some stone I could use but I really like the resin as I'm sure it would be way more durable than stone-just my thoughts-
What would you recommend if you want the statue to be plastic instead of resin? Thanks!
I would suggest looking into Smooth-On products shawz10! They have all sorts of different types of resins and plastics-I'm only used to using Smooth Cast 320 which is resin so I'm not 100% sure what types of plastics they have. It I know they have quite a few to choose from!
Instead of using rubber bands could just slip it back into that 16 oz cup hold it perfect wouldn't it?
I could use the cup but the silicone pushes out the air in the cup which makes it kind of a pain to get the mold out of the cup-I guess I could drill a small hole in the bottom of the cup and that might help with the ease of removing the mold Chris-I find its just easier to use the rubber bands-thanks for the suggestion!
Hey Toby, around how many casts do you get out of a Mold Star 16 mold before you notice degradation?
Hey Ryan! So it depends on the complexity of the sculpt-if there is little to no undercuts, it’s possible to get up to 40 casts or so. On the other hand, I’ve had sculpts so complex with undercuts, I’ve gotten literally one pull in resin and the molds were destroyed (we don’t like those kinds of pulls lol) hope this helps
Cool figure, is there a full cast zombies coming down the road
Thank you Monsters and Ghouls! I have several different zombies of all sizes coming!
If dont use baby powder can bro..?
One question, is it possible to use color pigments on this resin?
Hey there! I have added tints to this resin and it worked just fine for me:)
use a heat gun to get rid of the air bubbles
great vids!
Can you use Slip in these molds?
Hey torrie tyler! You know, I’ve never done that but I don’t see why not?! That’s a good question! Sorry I don’t have a better answer for you-
Ill give it a shot and give you feed back. Thanks for all the videos.
OMG quit picking at his teeth with that thing........lol
