    I wished these guys lived by me to help build my kitfox. These are they guys you want. Hundreds of years of plane building knowledge.

    Update. Jack had a mishap in the plane in 2016 that resulted in it flipping over. The biggest problem was his new prop was broken and the engine had to be torn down. He is in the process of rebuilding it now.

    Beautiful airplane! My father used to have an Aircamper. I never got to see it or fly in it, but I have always been drawn to the airplane!

    I'm about Jack's age and I can understand his sentiment about the plane trying to kill him. When we are young we feel indestructible but later in life not so much. I'm happy that Jack is OK but sad about the ending of such a beautiful plane.

    Jack had another engine out and made a forced landing just outside of the Airpark. He had to pull up at the last moment to miss an electrical wire that crossed the road. The plane stalled and he had a hard landing that collapsed the gear. He slid off the road and into a wire fence. Only minor damage to the wingtip. He decided to sell the plane for parts. Maybe a good idea. :-)

    I've been looking for a kit plane for a project for me and my dad when I finally finish getting my PPL, I've heard and seen great things about this plane especially its sturdiness. Would this be a plane you recommend for a first-time kit?

  • @Duckey123
    @Duckey123  3 года назад

    Yes it was. Gave him headaches trying to keep it running. After the last emergency landing he sold it.

    I just have to ask, Where do you live, i could be wrong but that looks like a gated community with a private air strip?

    • @DrewLSsix
      @DrewLSsix 7 лет назад +2

      Thomas Godwin. it need not be gated but there are communities built specifically for aviators.

      We live in an Airpark, Whiteplains Plantation (SC99). Just outside of Columbia Airport control zone. (KCAE). It is a gated community. Homes are built around the runway. Have a paved airstrip that is 3000 feet long with pilot controlled lighting and a VASI on 27 end of the runway. The plane in the video experienced a crash landing that resulted in a broken prop and damage to the tail when it flipped over. The plane has been repaired and as soon as some engine work is completed it should be back in the air very soon. No one was hurt. For more information about our airpark visit our blog at whiteplainscommunity.blogspot.com/.

      Update 12/12/2017 Jack is still having issues with the engine overheating. He is determined to find a solution to the problem but to date, nothing seems to work.

    • @Duckey123
      @Duckey123  6 лет назад +1

      Update 8-28-2018 Jack had an engine failure this evening. After turning downwind the engine quite. The only option was landing on the road that runs next to our subdivision. At the last moment, he saw a wire running over the road and pulled up, missing it but causing the plane to mushroom down causing a hard landing. The main gear failed which cause the plane to veer off the road and into a wire fence. He didn't get hurt but had a lot of damage to the front and bottom of the plane and one wing tip.

    It is a beauty but I'm guessing in part the accident had something to do with the terrible forward vision. Take the Ford off and put on a 65 hp Continental and fly where you SEE.

      I am not the builder of the plane, Jack built it. I just did the video. Jack no longer owns the plane, he sold it last year.

    At 15:56 what is perineal vision?. And you guys must be noobs at hand propping an aircraft engine ,wrapping your fingers around the prop is recipe for disaster if the engine backfires.
