Now that my life is slowly but definitely coming to end I often listen to these Ennio Morricone masterpieces and somehow I suddenly feel like I'm still thirteen years old and life is still ahead. How can one man, musician, compositor, make that feeling? I really don't know. But I sure enjoy my memories and feel joy and sorrow at the same time.
I like to think Ennio's music comes from his infancy when his mother sang lullabies to him. There's just something magical in his compositions that remind me of being a child and hearing a beautiful melody for the first time that to this day triggers my nostalgia.
I saw this movie on DVD about 2 or 3 months ago. I like it very much. All the cast in the film acted pretty well. James Coburn, Rod Steiger and Romolo Valli in particular, whose performance are outstanding. Sergio Leone the film director who also took part in writing this film story, directed this movie as impressively as The Dollars Trilogy, and Once Upon A Time In The West. And I love the music of the film made and composed by this music composer genius Ennio Morricone. Thank you very much for uploading it and sharing it with us Summerfan81 my friend.
FINALLY, I found the version that I remember hearing on the radio back in the early 70's. I don't know why but is seems every other version I've come across is from the album or an orchestral version and really is not like this one.
It's likely that the studio cut this version together strictly for radio airplay - it puts all the best pieces together, taking out the long slow transitions and "punching it up" and making for a better AM radio cut imo ;?)
(Romolo Valli) "I see. You've already judged and condemned me." (Romolo Valli) "That's why you've brought me with you. To kill me, hehe. It's easy to judge. Have you ever been tortured? Are you sure you wouldn't talk? I was sure. And yet I talked. Some men died because of me. What should I do? Kill myself? Why? The dead remain dead but me, I have not changed. I still believe in the same things. I can continue to serve the cause." (Sean Mallory-James Coburn-) "Shut up Villega. Shut up for Christ's sake." I believed in many Things! All of It! Now I only believe in Dynamite. I only judged a Man once in my Life. Keep Shoveling.
The cinematic vision of Sergio Leone, coupled with the music of Ennio Morricone. I can't think of a more perfect collaboration between director and composer in the history of movies, EVER!

Some of Ennio's most gorgeous music..and that is really saying something. The movie was pretty dumb ....but its always a joy to see good actors work even in their turkeys...

I totally agree, even though I was born in 1987. I prefer this version. The original one.
