I think it is so cool how they hand dug these deep wells and lined them up with all of the stones what a job and the time it would of took
@@redtobertshateshandles I bet a bunch my friend
When men were men.
@@Mike_Greentea thats right could you imagine the kids today having to do that kind of work if it couldn't be done on the xbox it can't be done lol
I can't even begin to imagine the amount of work involved in digging this well and even worse lining it with stones of every different size and shape imaginable with no mortar of any kind between them! Imagine how much work the entailed! It also makes me wonder why they even bothered to line wells with stone? With the rocks laid in loosely like that it doesn't seem it would the dirt from collapsing in and with the gaps between the stones they didn't keep water from seeping out into the ground or keep ground water from leaking into the well! Those stone walls, again, with no mortar still appear to be in perfect shape after what has to be at the least many decades! AMAZING what they could do years ago. I wonder if anyone alive, today, would be able to hand dig a well like that and then lay the rocks up dry without them falling in!
alphaone101 , they say the stone masons are a crafty bunch, and whoever built that well knew what they were doing , kinda the same were chigg took us to the peublo's the amount of work , the craftsmanship speaks for itself , have great day everyone
Tolik L. Wasn't much for slaves out west in Arizona.
alphaone101 you would have to know what the ground is like there to really know how they did it, but from my experience, even building this with the best heavy machinery and prefabricated concrete would be a big job.
alphaone101 it is amazing I sometimes hear story's about lost/dieing arts like being able to identify mushrooms not just Morels all kinds of stuff since it could be the difrence between life or death it's amazing and sad to hear about things that where important but are no longer
Exploring Indiana From what I'm seeing, there are a LOT of people who do not even know the basics- how to start a fire, how to skin an animal and clean it for cooking, what plants you can eat...and what is worse a lot of people don't even seem to care.
I was so into this video that if something had lunged at the camera from that rock wall I would have fallen out of my chair. LOL
that's amazing how hard early settlers worked to get the necessary things to sustain life. it probably took that homesteader a week to ten days to dig that well. you turn a man loose on a task like that today and he'd probably look at you stupid and say, you want me to dig what!
Just thinking about the work involved in digging that deep and then lining the walls. All to have it go dry... Life was sure hard then.
the work that went into this! the amount of stone work ........geeze
I'm always amazed at the construction of these old wells. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, that was as exciting as the opening of Al Capone's Vault....
that well is dryer than a mummy fart. I'm always amazed at how good these stone wells and foundations stand the test of time.
I would seriously pay the chigg 1k to do like a chigg vacation tours where he takes you out on a chigg adventure
Bob Saget wtf you on about..?
Interesting to look at and ponder what those who dug and walled this well were really like.... It's the same feeling one gets while visiting any unusual structure of edifice anywhere in the world. The obvious planning and labor under dangerous difficult conditions... remind us of the necessary struggles to achieve a needed goal for survival. Thank you so very much for sharing this video.
Beards looking good !!
Someone went through a lot of effort cobbing that well, i hope it was worth it. it might still have water in it during certain times of the year.
OMG Chiggy I HELD MY BREATH THE WHOLE TIME! LOL, I got a little dizzy but so cool to see the inside of an old well. : )
I think I saw a snake's head! Pause at 7:35 and look on right tucked in the rocks just his little face peeking. He's wearin camo ; )
Love your videos! Keep up the AWESOME work!
Very cool old well, such craftsmanship in laying all that stone
Chig! I love how you start whispering before you put the camera in as if you might get caught out! ROTFL. Interesting that there were no skeletons in there.
It would be interesting to learn how those wells are originally constructed. The rock inlay is amazing.
The work that was put into digging and reinforcing this well is unbelievable!! Wow !!! Thanks for the peek !!
You are to much, love your videos. This is so GREAT, stay safe and keep them coming. Doug from Albany Oregon 👍👍👍👍
Thank you....it was fun.....never know what'er gonna find!!
Thanks man, I can't sleep and now my favorite show is on.
didn't think we'd get a video, thanx chigg tv was suckin.
Hey, love the videos and keep up the great work chigger
Cool vid of a well made well. That's a lot of work stacking rocks!
The Ring :D
No idea why things like this are so fascinating to me
There was nothing there, not even bones, and yet I still watched and loved the exploration.
fun . i enjoyed thanks for showing
Cool still watching
What a lot of work went into the building of that well. Thank you for showing it.
WELL WELL WELL look what we have here!!! OH WELL!!!
All the younger people, "What do you mean, get the film developed?".
Caryn Schwengel , yeah can probly lead em on for awhile on that one,lol
Caryn Schwengel LOL.Right?
Yep you can meybe keep it goin for days lol
I really loved this. I was terrified that I'd see the skeleton of some unfortunate creature and was relieved when we didn't but was just too fascinated to look away.I am marveling at the thought of each of those stones being placed so mindfully by hand.
Could be my imagination but I saw so much chert/flint for knapping. Awesome dangerous hole.
It is beautifully built.
Seems to me the digging of the well was the easy part...the labor and skill in lining the well with rocks had to be the toughest part and rock lined wells have always held a fascination for me. Appreciate your taking the time and effort on making this video, Beau.
Cecil Bennett yes you really have to pick the rocks wisely, digging was the easy part but it hurts your head thinking which rocks go where like a real life puzzle
Enjoyed!
Awesome and good job guys
that was a good episode more please
This well is hidden pretty damn well.
Mr Bucket Pun intended.
I saw Ricki's face 6:17 top middle. Creepy rock ha ha
Good video my good sir
that's awesome
Believe I saw a pretty long Rattlesnake rattler at 06:06. If you look just above the time bar over to the right, about 3/4 of the way across, it's there.
Geoff Jacobs dang it im on my phone & I looked so hard but its jus a little blurry for me at that time I did try lol I went back over it 6 or 7 times & kept Pausing it several times lol
i see it too
dude I saw it too lol...
That was a dangerous well to build...omg...they had no way of shoring up the sides back in the day.
WOW! Scary. It is amazing how well (pardon the pun) they built these wells back in the day. Hard to imagine just how they actually built it. Thanks for showing it to us.
love your vids chig
If you didn't watch from the start you would think that is some clear water with the dust and audio 🙂
love your videos
There's probably a scary ghost down there. Hahahahahhahahahahhahahaa!!!!!!!!!! Whooopieee dooooo!!!!!!!!
EARTH ANGEL 😇 Being over 100 years old, it was the cleanest well that I've ever seen. It's been a long time since that well has seen water! Still so,amazing to me of how they built these beautiful rock lined wells so long ago!!! About how deep do you think it was?🤔👍
Did anyone else automatically think "The Ring" or "Rings" when they saw the thumbnail or title!!!!
That would’ve been a job stacking all them rocks like that.
Spooky dust. 😧
I would love to see a how to video on creating a well like this one.
Hey! I think if you instead used fishing line, and 2-3 mounting points on the camera (like in a triangle shape) you'd be able to keep it from spinning much easier. Would be easy to bring with you many places since it's just fishing line :)
You know it's serious when Chigg uses a tripod lol... last time I saw this he pulled out his pistol LOL
time to give away a T-shirt and a sticker don't you think??? next time you do one of these videos like this one please add in your observations over the video. that long of "silence is for the lambs" 😀😀
great video
Rock piling not so good. I’m amazed to not see the bottom filled with fallen stones.
5:44 is it just me that saw the creepy face on a rock? :o
Sounds like a coven of quail keeping a close eye on you in the background.
Face on a rock at 4:02
yippie!!.......let's go...come on..
Couldn't sleep and I noticed you uploaded a new video! Awesome! How much time in a week do you devote to just editing and uploading videos? Thanks for inspiring me to get off the couch and start going on my own adventures!
Must have been hard and dangerous work digging wells like that one. I imagine they must have dug the hole and then lined it with stones from the bottom up. Thanks again. I always enjoy your videos.
That's a lot of stones...
You have to wonder how the stones didn't cave in on the builder and did they use ladders? Staging? Unbelievable.
What type of camera and light did you use to explore the well?
After those INCREDIBLE cliff dwelling videos everything else pales in comparison. You got your work cut out for you on your next few videos....lol. Keep up the great job!!
1:16
And here comes Freddy mutherfuckin krueger
Ha ha ha
Ok well I guess it's a good thing I don't sleep
Clicked like before the vid even started lol.
Definitely looked like there were a couple coins.
Noticed that too. I didn't see them until the very end as he was raising the camera, I wonder if he just tossed a few things down in the well to screw with us, lol.
A well cool …. Did you get an echo …. Echo….echo ,…. lol
Magnet on that line.. with camera next time ..lol
Cool
Well...there was mushrooms at least haha
Chigg, that film developing was a nice joke! I bet some kids do not even know what you mean with that. I was surprised to see only a well made of rocks the most interesting thing was to see how the roots got all the way down there to get to water. Nothing dangerous to see not even a spider. You might want to dig out some on the bottom but that is nothing to do when you are alone there.
Nice
Well-made well, and you know the depth by the amount of rope used. Give us a clue!!
You should show your camera/flashlight rig if you haven't already
Hey come to Topeka Kansas and check out the old Defunct Missle silos we have here I went and checked one out yesterday ! It was pretty cool. But there are a total of nine here and really want to go to the others
Hard to imagine someone dug a well there , the ground is like concrete all over arizona, like a giant flash flood came through full of dirt , rocks and just made a giant concrete slab!!!!!
William Burdon it's just a mater of breaking up the soil and moving it just takes time if you work with the soil any type of soil can be easy to dig up, doesn't mater if there's rock you pick them up and keep digging.. day by day
Was it just me, or did that rock next to the wall look like a baby skull on the way down?
Those roots with the big nodules are from a nitrogen fixing tree. Pretty cool. I wonder what it is.
sure looked like there was a bunch of rat tunnels going back into the dirt, no skeletons that I saw.
"RATS"! No skeletons!
I thought Timmy O'Toole would be down there.
I wonder if theirs any silver or gold coins in the bottom buried in the muck that people have tossed in over the years
Always love watching Chiggs' vids, but I had to skip most of this one due to getting dizzy to the point of sickness when the camera was spinning :/
Could be 100+ feet of dirt that fell/blown in the well I have seen dust bowl hills 150'+ high harder to pile then to fill.
Looks like there's at least one little animal skull. Too bad you cant climb down there and take a real closer look
If your using a gopro you should carry a smart phone and download the app you can see on the phone what the gopro is seeing I do in my car when on the road
I am curious if you dug down 2 or 3foot to clear out the rubble and other clutter would there be water hidden there
someone went through a lot of work digging and lining that well!
and just wondering what kind of camera are you using? that would be a good situation for the Olympus TG Tracker action cam, waterproof, super wide angle and built in light. going to test mine out in a well later on today. :)
Hold your breath!
Any idea how they dug and rock lined a well like that? Interesting video BTW, thank you. :)
the Bobwire is there to make sure you fall in head-first not you chigger somebody😎
I saw Ricky 7.13!
Looks like there's a rat skull at the bottom!
