  • 5G antennas are starting to become available for sale. This is the first true 5G antenna I have taken a look at but is it worth £30?

I am admittedly not schooled in these types antennas, but I have learned much from your channel! Thanks!

Glad you find them helpful. Just been in a bit of a rut last few months like most people. Just need the bloody sun to come out in the UK now. 😀

Quite a long cable for 3G... and probably not a good quality. Maybe you measured mainly the cable? I would try to cut it and try again...

I have not tested it but it looks better than the usual speaker wire you get with these.

I have a few more on the way but I am seeing a lot of Chinese sellers on ebay just rebranding their stock of 3G and 4G antennas and calling them 5G. Without anyway of testing you would just think you got a crap antenna.

Excellent review! That element PCB just looked like ordinary FR4. If so, the ex-works cost to the antenna maker would be in the low pence range for production volumes.
Hey, you forgot to mention how well it integrates with your local authority's kill grid!😉

Interesting antenna, I'm surprised taht the case is completely round / symmetrical, since the radiation pattern isn't. This makes it hard to see in which direction the antenna actually points.
The coax seems to be quite a bit better than the super cheap speaker wire kind, that's nice to see.
How do you calibrate your network analyzer?
Do you do a full OSL calibration?
I'm askimg because your S11 values are at -40 to -50dBm even at the bad spots. If you did a full calibration and the open would be at 0dBm, that would be quite a strange response, I think.
    Greetings,
    Michael

Hello. Great review. Was looking at exactly these kind of antennas from Aliexpress. Would this work on a boat with 4G? Now my phone looses the signal(4G, 2G works further out) about 15-20km out on the sea, would this increase the distance compared to that if I use two of these with an 4G router..? Would need small size antennas as it's a fishing boat. What frequenzy should I target at? Am I right that low frequenzies reach longer out? Thanks.

    Dear Mr. Andrew,
I need real working cheap 2,4GHz wifi transmitter to gaining range of signal transmission. I am using tenda 03 radio.
Would you please show me how to build it? Is it possible to replace with other sectoral mimo?
    Thanks...

It looks interesting but my spiral PCB antenna can cover 3.3ghz to 6ghz, has 3.5db of gain and can be used for 5.8ghz fpv as it is also circularly polarized.

@@benjamengabriellewis8818 well, there’s not really much of a build as it is a pcb spiral antenna that I bought. You can find it on RUclips by searching for 5.8g pcb spiral 1956

@andrew mcneil can you make 700mhz 4G sleeve monopole antenna. I already make your 1.8mhz but my internet still slow because it is a congested band👌👍

Doesn't look like a very good 5G response to me,...
. just a general purpose 3G, 4G wifi ( %G does appear to have been 'peppered' on these lower bands) I believed the Max frequency was to be 15Ghz for mobile phone coms.

I am also seeing a lot of 3g 4g antennas just being rebranded as 5g with a higher price tag. Just sent a Yagi back to a seller who sold me it saying it was 5G. it was identical to the cheap 2.4GHz Yagi’s that have been on ebay for the last 20 years.
