Youre one of the only gun tuber guys that actually lowers the volume for the shooting sequences, or at least matches it to the speaking portion of the video. It is very annoying always having to adjust my speaker system volume during these types of videos.Thank you very much for doing this. Very good reviews. I have had about 4 different 365s myself. The best shooting/looking/ergos is a 365xl slide, irons only, on an icarus ace 365 xl metal frame. Super simple, sleek, accurate, etc @21oz.

I felt it was coming, you hosted a Sig 365 Family Reunion and we were all invited. Well done and packed with tons of useful information. Equal to if not better than the Smith&Wesson Shield 2.0 you held about a year ago. The pains you go though to put the right gun in the holsters of your viewer’s surpasses every single gun guy on RUclips. And your in great company because there are some great presenters out there, but the effort you put into backing up your wise opinions just far exceeds them all! No one, and I repeat no one works harder on comfortable CCW than you do.

I have the 365xl Spectre (non-compensated) as well as a 365 on which I installed a Sig flat trigger. Factory iron sights. Kinda 3 guns (actually 4) for the price of 2. The Spectre is one of my very favorite pistols. The grip with the enhanced texturing just fits my hand perfectly, and I find it noticeably more pleasant to shoot than the 365, which I use for mostly pocket carry. Just a great series of firearms from Sig, well-supported in the aftermarket.

Great review, but you missed my favorite: the P365X. For those who pocket carried their original P365 with the 12 round mag, and wanted the flat trigger, with a slightly larger beaver tail, the P365X was a perfect upgrade. In fact, I upgraded my P365 to the P365X for under $100 by swapping in the P365X grip and replacing the trigger (and adding a larger mag release). I also carry 14+1 with the Magguts +2 kit. And to complete the perfection, I carry it all with Underwood's 90 gr. +P Xtreme Defenders, which overcome the poor expansion even the best JHPs produce with their superior terminal performance (due to cavitation)--and with the extra benefit of a little less recoil.

Bought the Wc grip for the xl. Love it. Purchased the macro and put a Icarus grip on it. ( Cabella points). Wow! The hump in the back of the grip "pushes) my hand high and tight under the beavertail. When I grip the Wc grip it is very comfortable , but I now realize my large hands aren't as high on the gun. To be honest, I haven't shot the macro yet, nor did I give the factory grip a chance.

I’m only 47 seconds into the video and I’m ready to offer my opinion. I went from conceal carrying a Sig P938 to conceal carrying the original P365. The difference in weight and thickness IN REALITY between those two guns is huge, even though it may not be on paper (keep in mind I carry in an OWB leather pancake holster with a twelve round magazine). The whole point of the P365 is more fire power in a small firearm. I would stick with the original if anybody is trying to decide. FYI… It’s been a great gun for me; I hope everyone else that has one feels the same.

I love my Macro, its the best compact pistol I own. The 17 round capacity combined with the thin profile is perfect for concealment. I have the Mossberg MC1 its the same size as the Macro but that Macro is way better. That middle ground texture on the grip isn't super aggressive when its pressed against your body during warmer days for CCW. Everybody has different sized hands and different training experiences. The whole which is better will depend on the person. I have learned over the years how to be able to conceal almost any handgun and use it effectively in almost any scenario. Good review though

  • @PierceThirlen2

FYI, the curved trigger has more room inside the trigger guard to fit a gloved finger. The trigger pull force at the tip of the trigger is identical between the flat and curved trigger which varies from about 3.5 lbs to 4.0 lbs depending on the tolerances of the springs. If you have a large diameter finger you will be pulling the flat trigger at nearly the same place as the curved trigger and the pull force will be between 7 and 8 lbs. If you have a thin finger you can pull the trigger closer to the tip which will increase the leverage and reduce the pull force to around 5.5 to 6 lbs.
With the curved trigger, the contact area on your finger is larger so there will be less pressure per square inch on your finger when you squeeze the trigger. With the flat trigger there will be reduced contact area on your finger, thus increasing the pressure per square inch and there will be a greater range of pressure on your finger as you squeeze the trigger. Some people may interpret this as better control. Some people may perceive that the flat trigger breaks more cleanly, but that is perception and not reality.

When I started buying pistols a few years ago, a friend of my spouse met us at a local gun shop and talked carry guns with us for an hour or two. That friend left us with a short list of what they considered good carry guns for our purposes, and the SigSauer P365XL was on the list (as was the Canik TP9SC and the CZ P10S).
Over the next month or two, I bought a P10S and a P365XL, figuring my spouse would prefer one and I would use the other (I have reasons for being flexible on that that aren't relevant to the current discussion). Over the next few months, I had a chance to shoot a P365SAS, and found that I liked the P10S better than either of the SigSauer options.
Since I am "of a certain age," and am dealing with age-related presbyopia, and since I saw a local gun shop with special pricing on a SigSauer Romeo Zero RDS, I decided to try one on the P365XL in the inventory. My spouse decided that she could do the administrative handling of that gun better than she could of any other gun in the safe (the collection had grown to include a CZ P10C and an M&P M2.0 sub-compact), so that one is now "her gun." It's a great piece, but I find it a bit narrow for my hands. If I try target shooting with it, I do pretty well, but I do better at rapid shooting drills with my CZ 75D PCR.

Plan to use standard mag for deeper conceal and 17rd when it’s in the truck or as follow up mag. Just now watched your video and Im happy to see you affirmed my choice. Happy shooting brother. Great content, wish I’d have watched this beforehand.

Thanks so much. I'm 61 yoa retired mechanic, lots of strains and hand and wrist injuries, they all healed well, now arthritis. I'm struggling with my grip strength on my original p365. I've had and have, sidearms I can grip well still, 1911 for instance, we all know the pitfalls there. p365 is only one I will actually carry, the others to are too bulky. I'm leaning toward the XL after watching but still undecided. Thanks again.

For 2 years I've carried my XL with Wilson Combat Grip module with my original P365 upper. In relaxed fit jeans even with 12 round mags it is easily concealed and no problem to draw with a pocket holster. Just got my P365 AXG Legion which wasn't available at the time this video posted and haven't shot yet but it feels the best in the hand of all the 365's I've had, which is all (except Specter Comp).

I pocket carry all of the 365 variants, including my own macro designs. I put my XL slide on the macro grip and I also cut a macro module to fit my short 365 slide. All are easy to front pocket carry in my FL shorts every day. You just have to wear big and baggy cargo shorts like I do. Your clothing choices should always cater to the guns you carry.
The comped slides I don’t care about, since the 365 has always been a soft shooter to me anyway.

You left the best 365 out! I started with a standard 365 and absolutely loved it until I began timed defensive drills. I discovered that the recoil with that small a gun made it uncontrollable at speed. At the recommendations of several range officers I tried bigger guns. The bigger the gun the better I got. I got rid of that 365 but I sorely missed the size and portability of the 365. Then I discovered the best 365, the 380! It’s recoil impulse is very close to a 22 lr! It fast, it’s flat, and it’s extremely accurate!! It’s nothing short of incredible! While it doesn’t have the power of a 9, a 9 in a 3” barrel is nothing to write home about. I’ve yet to have anyone shoot it that wasn’t impressed.

My latest P365 is the AXG Legion. To me it is a shade flatter shooting than the XMacro due to heavier frame but not a huge difference. The AXG grip is fantastic. Feels as natural as anything I own with the exception of my P226 X5 Legion, but carry friendlier due to the major size and weight difference.

Due to FCU modularity, I'd recommend buying the Macro, because its easier & cheaper to size down from the Macro to the XL or the original, than doing the reverse.
Unless you plan for pocket carry, I'd argue all the XL / Xmacro slides are superior buys.

@@8Soul88 First, I do own and shoot a SAS 365. Second, those sights are somewhat adjustable. Loosen those two screws and you can cant the sight a little to either direction, and a little go's a long ways!
Don't get me wrong. I love to see those guys stand there and slowly put a whole mag on target, but in a self defense situation the first shot is the one that counts the most to me. I practice a smooth draw with all my handguns with the muzzle high, and as the front sight hits the target in pushing the gun out, while bringing that rear notch around the front sight and squeeze of the round. With the SAS I draw muzzle high, cover the target with the muzzle, then use the same push the gun out and up, and like majic there is the green dot in the pipe on target as I squeeze of a shot. Don't forget, these sights are for SELF-DEFENSE ranges, not 25 yard ringing steel!

Great video and explanations, and I would like to add one point...Expelled gasses from the ported barrel or compensated X-Macro Slide. I fired P365X and X-Macro on a recent trip to a free state and I would not be comfortable at all carrying a ported barrel or the X-Macro Slide. I've had all sorts of duress firearms training and shooting a firearm with a ported or compensated barrel is not ideal. My answer was to build myself an XL-Macro, so a frankensig with a bigger Grip module for my Hulk sized hands, more capacity, longer barrel, less recoil and no comp. I also bought the DPM system for recoil reduction, so I still get the minimized recoil from a "compensated slide", but without the gasses and other stuff that comes out of the compensated slide or a ported barrel. Overall, for me, it's the best solution for an EDC. I love the P365 for the modularity and customization that can occur by using a FCU and grip modules/slide combos. My favorite carry pistol by far are the Sig Sauer P365 series, though I also have every small Glock, a few Taurus Micro's and a Hellcat Pro, but Sig P365XL-macro beat them all for reliability, fit and finish.

I hear ya on the Iron Sights. Not a fan of red dots myself. Heard they really are better when you practice with them. In the end though, many people lose their ability to use iron sights quickly and accurately, because they get sloppy with the red dot. Have a friend who always used irons (never wanted a red dot).... but then he got one (for free) and used it exclusively for a couple years and now he can't hit anything with iron sights (not quickly or at regular speed). He also has trouble switching targets with iron sights now too. I actually always wanted a red dot, but never tried one, because of this (because of cost mostly, but that's what moved an optic down lower on the list of things I want to try/buy to being a lower priority).
