    I’ll preface by saying I’ve been a Glock fan for years and own several models along with other brands as well. With all due respect, the notion that Sig copied Glock is almost laughable. Sig changed the game when they released the P365 and have continued to offer new variants since, with modern features that have set industry standards and market trends. Glock has always been slow to change and offer innovation. If anyone should be looking to copy another brand, I’d say Glock would be wise to start copying Sig. Sig clearly isn’t here to take part, they’re here to take over and don’t seem to be slowing down one bit.

    • @JohnDoeEagle1
      @JohnDoeEagle1 2 года назад +39

      Sig Sauer didn't "copy" GLOCK with their all metal frame Classic P-Series pistols but "SIG NH USA" most certainly did in every way from the striker fired design to the polymer frame. To say anything is a "GLOCK Killer" is pretty obtuse and comical. They all come and they all go eventually. So far nobody has been able to replicate what makes a GLOCK great yet! IMO, Sig should go back to Sig Sauer and start making their classic legacy pistols full production instead of limited runs once again. It's what put them on the map P-220, P-226/Mk25, P-228/M11A1, P-229 etc etc etc. This polymer fad will pass and then everybody will be scrambling for the next big "GLOCK Killer" that never happens.

    • @JohnDoeEagle1

      "GLOCK Killers" like Springfield Armory XD/XDm, S&W M&P and all variants etc etc. They didn't "kill" anything....in fact you can't hardily give them away these days.

    • @MF_UNDERTOW
      @MF_UNDERTOW 2 года назад +58

      @@JohnDoeEagle1 Let me say again that I’m a Glock fan and they make my favorite pistols. There are many guns now days that compete with or surpass Glock in terms of reliability, accuracy, ergonomics and standard modern features, to the point where saying Glock is the best at anything is a subjective opinion. You said “Glock killer,” not me. I’m simply making the point that Sig didn’t copy Glock in this case by lowering the bore axis, a goal for any handgun design, and that if Glock wants to maintain their dominance, they’d be wise to catch up to what other manufacturers, Sig especially, are offering as standard features for the same or less money. Glock is well known for being slow to change and it’s only a matter of time before they’re overshadowed by companies that are striving to push innovation. I’ll support my assertion by pointing out the P320 government contract, civilian sales numbers of guns like the 320 and 365 and the fact that Sig is constantly offering new and fresh variants of these guns.

      @@JohnDoeEagle1 actually H&K made the first polymer striker fired pistol in 1970 "vp70" and several after that glock didn't even start for 9 more years, if I were to entertain your argument I'd say that sig copied the styer m9 pistols not the "block"

    • @rickhunter6513
      @rickhunter6513 2 года назад +77

      @@JohnDoeEagle1 no one has been able to replicate what makes Glock so great? No one is replicating Glock, they have all surpassed Glock. Most of the major pistol manufacturers produce pistols with better ergos better triggers and better magazine releases. Walther, Sig, S&W, HK, Steyr, CZ all superior to what Glock offers.
      Glock makes an excellent pistol the problem is they never evolved.

    Tried a macro out at the local ffl/range and left with a new one. It’s a fantastic little weapon. Great ergonomics, flat shooter, with a good holster it tucks away even under a t shirt and it holds 17 rounds. Sig knocked it out of the park with the macro.

For whatever reason, the Sig blows the 43x out of the water, for me anyway. I got the 43x first, and I loved the slim grip. When I got my hands on the Sig, I knew I had to have it. I'm confused. SIG has developed a modular system where different slides, grips, and features can be interchanged to meet the individual's needs. Putting a longer or shorter grip on the SIG P365 .380 or the P365/P365X/P365XL 9mm, etc. seems more like "tailoring" rather than "copying." There is no national one size hand standard.
    Some folks are happy with 5 rounds, others want 17+ rounds. We're all different.

      I know exactly what you mean. I own a decent number of handguns of varying sizes, calibers and capacities. I bought this Macro recently and it's okay. I mainly bought it for the Holosun green dot sight since the slide is ready for it to be mounted. My son loves these sights but I'm having trouble acclimating to them. Raising the gun doesn't always put the dot in view and sometimes I seem to lose the dot after a few recoils and have to reorient it. Strangely I don't notice doing this with iron sights if I do it at all, and I tend to be in the 8 and 9 circles even at 25 yards. In spite of all this, my go to handgun is the S&W 686P, with the 7" barrel. What I love about that revolver is that even with 7 rounds, I got several speed loaders and have myself reloading very quickly. Nowhere as fast as with magazines obviously, but still pretty effectively, I think. Best part is distance. Close range it's too easy to destroy the center of any target obviously. Take that target all the way out 50, 60 yards and I'm still nailing center mass for the most part. Haven't been able to set up a target past that yet, but I think it works as the perfect gun for close up, all the way out to where a rifle takes over. Amazing firearm for it's type and age.

You're a follow up shot however in a combat situation will be much different if you do not have a good grip on your gun. If you've only got two fingers on your gun versus all of your fingers. That makes a huge difference. Nobody ever points this stuff out. You do. Thank you. This is exactly why I love my Glock 19 X.

    At a distance of 25 yards, shooting the Sig P365, I had to pay extra attention to the "Shooting Dynamics" for Precision Accuracy!
    First, my grip had to be high upon the back strap of the pistol, held very tight. Second, both "Sight Alignment" and "Trigger Control" had to be precise and smooth. By strictly following these stages, I finally was able to produce both a Five shot group of 2" along with a Ten shot group of 3.5" both from 25 yards, using Blazer 115gr fmj 9mm. Yes. The Sig Macro (excluding any unforeseen catastrophic issues with it in the future) outclasses the 43x. I have 6k rounds through my 43x and do really like it. I put trijicon HDs on it, SA15 mags, and a SA mag release. So this gun is largely unmodified. I had several FTE issues and issues with my slide not locking back (continuing issues)....the FTE issues are odd and are likely not an issue with my grip or the SA 15 mags- they are great. I was causing malfunctions before and fixed my grip to account for the small frame of the 43x...the slide not locking back is likely caused by my grip and location of the slide release. It is an issue I accept because the gun is small...go figure. That being said I still love my 43x. I've had my Sig Macro for about a week and only have about 600 rounds through it. That being said, no malfunctions, shoots great, and stock trigger is better than a 43x. Lots of options with grip backstraps, picatinny rail, and optics cut. The integrally compensated slide is nice too. The macro will be my new edc, but i'll still carry the 43x depending on the situation and necessity to carry something a bit smaller.

    • @justinahern9729
      @justinahern9729 2 года назад +1

      @Frank Bonazza III That may be true. I originally bought the 43x because it fit better in my hand than a 365. I am a proponent of shooting the gun that "fits you". Likewise, I knew I would have 15 +1 capacity with SA 15s....but you are right. It's BS that I had to buy after market mags in the first place....unfortunately, people who live in capacity-limited states need an option and I think the 43x fits that bill if the 365 grip isn't right for them. Ofourse people can buy pretty slick grip modules for Sigs if they have the money. That being said, I'm pretty sure my next handgun purchase will be a Sig

I don't want to swap frames each time I decide to use a different size gun, whether it be daily, weekly, monthly, etc. That's not even the worst thing about Sig either. They released a gun that fires when dropped, and drop safe guns have been made for decades upon decades already. Then instead of recalling them like a company that has integrity should do, they instead offer a voluntary "upgrade", as if the version that fires without pulling the trigger is still an acceptable alternative if you don't want to bother sending it in. That's downright disgusting. Their qc problems are getting ridiculous as well. The MPX (or was it the MCX?), the p320, the p365 breaking strikers (in a carry gun no less, marketed as a gun that you carry everyday in case you need to defend yourself from being killed). Then there's the Sig Cross that again would fire without the trigger being pulled. Then they just recalled some ammo that wasn't loaded properly and could cause a squib which is very dangerous as well. Innovation is cool, when quality control isn't sacrificed in the process. I'm a quality control engineer in the nuclear industry, so I have a little experience in quality control and I speak from experience. Sig is just cutting corners in an attempt to takeover the market, and putting real lives in danger in the process. There's not a chance in hell I'd ever buy anything made by Sig in these days. I value my life, and those around me, and therefore I can't justify having any Sig products around me, and they aren't allowed on my personal shooting range either (after a friends p320 fired when sitting on the table without anyone even touching the gun, and then the Sig Cross he had would fire when you touched the bolt handle) unless they were made before Sig USA got involved. Maybe I'd be a bigger fan of the FCU concept if a company that values quality over profits and market shares started making them, instead of a company that has someone pulling strings for them to get government contracts. How do you suppose they beat Glock by 100 million dollars (or whatever ridiculously cheaper amount it was) in the last handgun trials? They sacrificed quality control, and they jacked up the prices for consumers as well to offset them basically giving away the guns to the government. You can't be that much cheaper without cutting corners, and my experience in quality control is what gives me the expertise and discernment to see what's going on. Sig has spread themselves too thin by expanding into other markets too fast (guns, optics, ammo, etc.), and they allowed their reputation for excellent quality to drop, all in the name of that Almighty Dollar, and that's unforgivable imo, whether they make innovative products or not, it's irrelevant to me because I lost trust in the products working as they are supposed to. Most people aren't enthusiasts like myself, and will get talked into jumping on the wagon by their local gun store salesmen that could care less about selling you a quality product, and by youtube shills that are bought and paid for to advertise Sig products as if they are the gold standard, when the evidence says otherwise. The FCU is still a gimmick that serves as nothing more than a selling point. Of all the people I know that have a Sig that uses an FCU, not a single one ever actually uses it as it was intended. They still go and buy another complete gun instead of swapping frames, because like I said before, they don't want multiple frames sitting around that are useless when the FCU is in another frame. The only legitimate swap I could see is where you can swap the hangun FCU into a carbine, but then it's still the same problem where you can only shoot one or the other, and the price savings from not having to buy another FCU is still not enough to make it a great choice when you can buy a complete gun for just a few hundred bucks extra. It's an idea that sounds great, but isn't actually as useful in the real world as people think it will be. Then to top it off, the qc is garbage, so why would I want to go buy an FCU, and multiple frames, for a gun that's made by a company that can't even make a gun that doesn't fire without pulling the trigger... Sig of old is long gone, and the old Sigs I have are excellent, and I would never sell them, but I'm not buying anything they make nowadays, where quality is nothing but an afterthought to this company. They should be ashamed to even use the Sig name, because they aren't representative of what Sig was before they stopped making guns over in Germany. They are merely riding the coattails of the glory days when Sig was a top tier manufacturer. Sorry about the rant, but I'm absolutely disgusted with the present day version of what was formerly one of the greatest gun manufacturers in the world. It's actually a problem because of America and the lazy, entitled attitudes of American employees. Im a Glock fan admittedly, but i won't buy a Glock made in the USA either, because Americans have gotten lazy and make terrible products. The only Glock that ever gave me any problems whatsoever was a g43 made in America, and it's sitting in the safe collecting dust because I can't in good conscience sell it to anyone knowing it's a hunk of junk. Have a good one though, and do as you please. I just truly want people to make informed decisions and not get suckered into marketing gimmicks and poor quality because they see everyone else doing the same thing. ✌️

    Linny my friend. I’m damn near 70 years old and been scouring the stores and Internet for a handgun “I want to shoot for FUN” versus what I was assigned for 30 plus years as a work tool. Two days ago, I rented a 43X and a Sig 365 Uncompensated for evaluation purposes. 43 Hurt my hand the recoil was overly excessive to my hand grip. Granted, I am not in the best physical shape, Also I’ve been sick the last 15 years And just now decided I want to shoot for fun and sport yet at the same time have a close-up defensive gun just in case. As soon as I shot the SIG 365 I knew I found the right handgun. After about 10 rounds through the SIG I went right back into the main store and they sold me a Sig Sauer 365X with the factory compensator. I’m in love what can I say? ❤

    I’m a huge Sig fan. Have been since the early 90’s. I bought a P365XL and an X Macro Comp within a month of each other just recently. Both had malfunctions out of the box, brand new. The Macro fired 5 shots before a fte. The XL had a fte after the first shot. I ran two brands and grains of ammo. Same issues. I bought a G43X MOS new to replace them as a ccw. The rear plastic sight was installed wrong so I fixed that. No biggie as night sights have shipped for it. But it ran both ammos without a hiccup. The Sigs are in the boxes in the safe until the buyers remorse wanes and I feel like dealing with it. So the high capacity of my Sigs were negated by malfunctions. I’d rather have 11 for sure, than 13 or 18 in theory. I have to have complete confidence in my carry gun…so as it stands, the XL capacity is 1 round and the Macro is 5 :-(

    I like the Glock's safety systems more:
    * Glock striker is only half cocked when loaded/chambered - generally not enough energy to ignite a primer if all other safeties fail. That is why the Glock has a tougher trigger pull, its the cost of this failsafe.
    * The firing pin/striker safety is independent from the sear on the Glock, vs having the striker safety on the same striker protrusion as the sears (Single point of failure). If the sig's striker breaks at the rear lug, all in battery safeties are defeated and the gun will discharge. Extremely unlikely that this happens because it is a strong part, but does require proper manufacture (MIM part).
    * Glock has a safety ledge that prevents the cruciform from depressing and releasing sear when the trigger is not pressed to the rear. This would prevent the sear from slipping under a drop on the top of the slide or other failures.
    * Has an inertial trigger safety (the two piece trigger) that prevents the trigger from depressing on impact due to momentum. Sig has a different sear release mechanism for the trigger that makes it safe without a trigger safety, and also has a secondary sear if the first slips or breaks.
    * Both have solid in battery safeties, so that the trigger cannot release until the gun is properly locked.
    From the operator perspective, I like the Sig more:
    * Safer maintenance: No trigger press to disassemble.
    * Smoother trigger: Trigger does not have to cock the striker
    * Modular Fire Control Unit: Replace banged up grip frames, or upgrade to different types of frames with different mag options
    I don't think the Sig is unsafe, and I don't think the Glock is hard to use/operate. They're both great choices.

    I started acquiring sig Sauer pistols. Still find Walthers to point better for me. But I find I still do better with sig p320 and p365xl than glocks of any variant.
    I wonder of Sig will be enough market pressure on Glock to potentially buy out Shield and make their shield mags an OEM option. I think it's what glock needs to compete with SIG and the springfield hellcat.

      Glock has reliability won hands down which is all that matters for a CCW pistol. Sig has had too many reliability issues over the years (in particular with the 365) that it doesn't matter how well the gun points or shoots for you if it fails when you need it.

    The Sig is a nice firearm and it has many nice features. I still prefer the Glock 43X MOS. It conceals well and has the right capacity and features I want. I'm picky when it comes to sights so even with the Sig I would want to change them to an i-dot set from ameriglo. For me the Glock 43X MOS with a streamlight TLR6 and Holosun Green Dot are the perfect conceal carry option. If I want more capacity I would carry my Gen 5 Glock 19 MOS, which is great for autumn and winter. I live in Florida though, so when it's really hot all you'll want to carry is a Ruger LCP Max, since it's very small and can be pocket carried.

      Why is 10 rounds the "right" capacity? I will take 18 over 10 everytime considering they are similar size.

    • @My-Name-Isnt-Important
      @My-Name-Isnt-Important Год назад

      @@thomasmacgruber6701 Due to the size, you're not getting 18 rounds into a pistol like this. Glock chose ten rounds since it provides the most rounds and still retains functional reliability. Rounds aligned in a row, will always be more reliable than a staggered configuration. If you move to a double stack, then you're making the pistol wider, and the point of the Glock 43X is to be thin and easy to conceal while still allowing a full grip. If you want more rounds, then move to a different pistol. It may not have the same reliability or concealability though.

    Good video Lenny. You missed a great feature of the Glock by misunderstanding how the Sig (and every other striker fired) operating system works. You said the trigger take-up pulls the striker back. That ONLY happens with Glocks. Sig, and all others, are truly single action. The striker spring is at FULL tension, waiting for the trigger to release a sear. So, not only is the Glock OS safer, it also has way fewer parts. The ingenious simplicity of Glock is what sets it apart, and nobody ever talks about how the striker fired weapons are so vastly different than Glock. I’ve carried a Sig p229 for years, but the new striker fired Sigs (while revolutionary in many aspects) have operating systems that are over-engineered, overly complicated, and inferior to Glocks according to physics.

      I would agree. I'm not a gun expert but I've always loved handguns. I don't love or hate them. The Glock conversation is a funny thing as we all know. Again, not an expert, and yeah I agree they maybe should innovate with things like sights and mag capacity, but it's not for no reason they have the reputation they do for being so reliable, simple and easy to work on. Not to mention the aftermarket support which speaks volumes by itself. Perhaps Gaston has known what he's been doing since he started it all.

    Haven't shot the newest Sig yet, but have shot the 365XL, the G43X, and G48. All three of these guns shoot well. The Sig XL is really nice right out of the box, it doesn't really need to be messed with. For me, the two Glocks immediately need new sights, and some trigger tuning. Add SA 15rd mags, and they're good to go. We will end up spending more time and money on the Glocks to make them how we want them, but it's really fun to do, and the result is rewarding. If I could only afford one of these three guns in stock form, it would be the Sig XL, it's the most bang for the buck.
