My German Grandmother taught me this method of knitting. I can still hear her tell me to rip it out in her beautiful German accent. She was very picky and I thank her for being a perfectionist. I have a granddaughter with gorgeous thick long hair that this will be great for her. Thanks.

What a great question! This pattern is meant for chunky yarn and size 13 needles. If you use a different yarn and/or different needles the hat will not be the same. I would love to show you how to do the hat on a magic loop though! Stay tuned for video and blog post next week!
This can be done on the nifty knitter round. Just use the brim method for the botton and the pearl method,knit method for the body of the hat and stretch decrease method for the crown. I am just checking for size gage here.
