And next, while I am grinding Rasam Powder, I add horsegram (kollu) instead of tuvar dal, bcos I add smashed boiled tuvar dal water in Rasam. That's why. This is how I am preparing.

Here in Karnataka,we use guntur chillies and byadgi chillies for good colour.and we use turmeric stack.Thank you.
Yes for rasam powder we don't add gram dal. Also the toor dal quantity is more for rasam powder than for sambar powder. Next difference is the texture, For sambar powder the texture is very smooth but for rasam powder the texture is coarse 😊🙏🙏🙏

If red chill powder is too spicy, you add 1/2 cup with the whole masala grinded powder. If it is normal spicy, you add 3/4 cup. Everything, according to taste. Trial and error. That's all. ☺👍
Akka,you didn't use byadagi red chillies as it gives good colour to the sambar powder.this is just for your information.we,here in Mandya,we use mallige or button chillies for nice smell.

I have never tried with red chili powder. Sorry not able to guide correctly. I have used only whole red chilies
