Even tho im a woman,Terry has opened my eyes and made me see that my severely abusive childhood (sexual, physical, emotional and mental abuse) colored my adulthood in negative ways. I tried controlling my environment as a way to protect myself. I was a helicopter mom always on the lookout for someone to hurt me or my family. I had to let the past wash off me and live for myself ,then i can live for my family.

But I can have control of my life without being controling. Iḿ working on my issues coming from the trauma. This interview is really beautiful and helpful. Im wishing you a wonderful life!

This level of vulnerability is unparalleled. So much respect for Terry Crews and he is honestly a role model for young men about how you can be masculine and in touch with your emotions.
This is one of the great interviews of all time. I am not even exaggerating. It was a throwback to interviews where the interviewee would answer & the interviewer allowed them to breathe. Such immense emotion, honesty, vulnerability & contrition. Terry Crews GETS IT. We were with him EVERY STEP of the way. Bravo Steven for getting him on! ☀️💕
You don’t get interviews like this unless your guest feels incredibly comfortable and at ease. Terry is able to be this authentic because that’s what Stephen calls forth in people. What an incredible gift Stephen is to the world, very few people can hold a safe space allowing people to be this vulnerable. It’s a testament to something Stephen brings of himself to these interviews that calls forth truth, quite possibly because Stephen has done his own work, resulting in the most heartfelt interviews I’ve ever heard. These interviews will save lives. Thank you so much. Just incredible and yes I’m in tears. 😊 X
Man my respect for Terry Crews increased tenfold The things he has overcome and his brutal honesty about his "demons" just made me question myself as a man and I wish more men were vulnerable like him and are in tune with their emotions like this If anyone, be it a man or a woman or any gender for that matter, is going through things, please be vulnerable and talk to someone and know that you aren't alone and you too can overcome your demons ❤
This is what real masculinity looks like. What a courageous man. Thanks for sharing it with us Terry. Really appreciate this channel. It is helping me become a better person one interview at a time.
Crazy how much I could relate to Terry Crews upbringing. If you’re listening to this and you are a father. Break the cycle. It stops with you. Be the person to your children that you needed when you were young.
This is one of the most stunning conversations - a complete testimony of his heart told with such intelligence, vulnerability, pain, and great love. Great man.
Captivated doesn’t even cut it. This interview is the definition of never knowing what someone has or is going through. Always loved Terry Cruz but how self aware he has become is outstanding, his journey is an inspiration to all men.
I can relate to his upbringing so much. My dad was an alcoholic and abusive. Very religious. Couldn't do things other kids could do, very strict, the fear and shame they instill. Couldn't fit in at school, bullied through school. Dropped out gr 5. left home at 12. rejected by my mom so the street was my home. Pregnant at 14. But it's not what broken people have done to hurt you it's how you choose to deal with it and rise above and refusing to be a victim. Love yourself the way you always deserved! I definitely numbed the pain without even knowing I had pain lol! But thank god I didn't become an addict or I know I wouldn't be here now. I watched my street friends go down from it but I wanted the life my parents couldn't give me. Terry is an earth angel 😇
I think this has shot straight to the top of my favourite episodes of this podcast. I could listen to Terry opening up and talking about his life all day. What a humble, honest and inspirational man with a deep, impactful story to tell. Excellent work Steven in bringing out the best of this great man!
I cannot stress on how relatable, true, pure, therapeutic and simply inspirational this podcast was! My level of respect and admiration for Terry Crews has skyrocketed while listening to this. It isn't easy to be this blunt and true about yourself when you're a public figure like he is, and I'm so happy he is living his truth and telling his story out to the world like this. The world really needs more people like him
What an incredible interview. Popped up in my feed today and just love the raw honesty and the beautiful vulnerability. It is a wonderful example of what they say in recovery... "To Thine Own Self Be True." Thank you Terry and thank Steven for doing this interview. You're such a gift.
What an incredible, emotional look into life and relationships. Proof that it doesn't matter where you came from but how you changed to become the best human you can be.
Props to his wife for sticking with this sweet man! Props to him for being completely transparent about himself. It's a hard thing to do and he did it with grace. God bless him!
I teared up when Terry did; I told my younger self that everything was going to be alright. I too and still am suffering from porn addiction/anger and trying to overcome it. What a man Terry is, thank you Steven for allowing this discussion to be held on your platform.

Mr. Terry Crews, this was the most impactful interview have ever heard. The anger, shame, the need to prove myself, infidelity, revenge, wisdom, turning point, healing, life. So much respect for you. Your testimony is absolute gold n 🔥 thank you so much for your vulnerability and love. My life is changed forever from this day forward.
This was the single most relatable talk I’ve ever seen from any human. I didn’t think it would be from Terry Crews. I am immensely thankful to you both for doing this Terry and Steven 🙌🏽Terry has truly awakened and opened his heart. It is amazing to see
The catharsis Terry described about beating his Dad and how it didn’t have the effect he thought it would….i soooo got that. Nothing is more human than that.
Wow Terry!!.....I sat with my partner and watched this interview. I laughed, I cried with and for you but most of all I thank you for being your true and only you. I'll glide through the rest of my day feeling blessed for having listened and heard your story. Power, strength and well-being to you and your family. You are a top bloke and men like you not only change yourself but you change the world for all around you. Much respect. Mary Dreger 🇦🇺 A top interview alround.
Had no idea,he had gone through so much..look how well he turned out Despite coming from such horrible background...we love and adore you young man!!❤❤
You have to be extremely: confident, intelligent & humble to understand how to ask a question and just let people talk for that long.. I really appreciate it!
What incredible honesty. Crews could have had a normal conversation, cracked a few jokes, and I would have respected him as I always did. But this level of honesty and introspection is remarkable and truly admirable. This is the sort of dialogue that we need.
Terry really drew me in there. The detail, the way he articulates and explains - he took me on a journey and hooked me in. I’ve a lot of respect for him - he comes across humble and kind. What a lovely guy and another great episode.
Terry Crews is a legend man hes been so open, vulnerable, and honest with things most people wouldnt. Even with dumb backlash especially when hes viewed as "big strong black man", he stood ten toes Terry is a g
The amount of honesty, vulnerability and willingness to break one’s ego and be truthful not with anyone else, but with oneself is something 99 percent of the population will never do, far less someone in a position of power like Terry. This has truely inspired me to seek therapy for my own skeletons. To look at them in the face instead of hiding them deeper. I respect and admire this man for him allowing the world in, and for the self reflection he has done.
Terry thank you so much for sharing your process of moving from the adult destructive behaviours of child trauma victim through the phases of awareness and taking responsibility and healing. Authentic compassion shines through you toward yourself and your family. Wonderful healing for us all.
I've always been a huge fan of Terry Crews. This interview has given me such a level of admiration for him.. Thank you Terry for being genuinely authentic and giving inspiring hope to those in this world looking to make changes, big and small, in their own lives. Thank you for being an example of what a 12 step program can do in one's life. 🙏
I had to share this podcast with friends. As a woman it is so refreshing to see a man tell the truth. It really helps us see the side, the real side of a man and how he thinks and feels. This was an amazing interview. Thank you.
His definition of intimacy in a relationship is bang on I appreciate him offering us his honesty and rawness Drinking Saltwater is a great analogy Both me and my lover learned something deep and long lasting from this man x
One of the most sincere and vulnerable interviews I’ve ever listened to. Terrys honesty is a thing of beauty. If we all applied this I believe our lives would be better.
Really like this guy. such a great honest guy, it’s a shame he’s been attacked by his own community when he speaks out about his community in order to help them out but gets attacked for it.
absolutely! men and women have suffered as Terry ~ me included. His courage has meant so much to me. thank you both for your generous authenticity and love. best to you with your book Terry. ❤
This podcast will do so much for tough men with egos to finally loosen up, be vulnerable and release their pain. Don't judge someone by their cover. Before this interview I would run away if I saw Terry in an alley way. Now I would give home a massive hugf.

@@navmohindra579 simply seeing a person with muscles evokes fight or flight reaction? An average height, slender built person, or indeed anyone, could be a danger. Therefore, I was trying to ascertain why you say that someone that looked like Terry Crews evoked fear in you.
This was one of the most honest and humble interviews I have ever seen. I have so much respect for him. I’m so glad he shared this. It’s helps both men and women. ❤
Terry is such a hero for men, women, and children... humanity. We have to transcend our differences. As a 34 year old white woman i relate so deeply to nearly every word spoken in this interview. He is especially inspirational to abuse victims of all kinds. Which the older I get the more I realize almost all of us are in some way. Love to all and I hope all our futures are better than our pasts. ❤
Another great, honest and open conversation. This podcast has been such an inspiration for me hearing so many different life stories so thank you Steven, keep these coming ❤
Wow two years later and I’m just blown away. Thank you for your transparency Terry, we love you brother. Thank you Stephen, amazing as usual, we love you brother 🙏🏾
What a legend, a lot of people talk about letting go of trauma, being vulnerable etc because it's the cool thing to say... But you can tell Terry is someone who is ACTUALLY doing the uncomfortable work to make those things a reality Another great interview 🙌
This is one of the best interviews I ever saw in English language. And what a relief for every human to understand that the very moment we accept and embrace our vulnerability, we are more a man or a women than we are without, because it simply means to accept the fact of being human. This also includes to accept mortality. And the very moment we stop acting like there is no tomorrow, while also acting like we are living forever... then we get humble and the healing kick in. Much love from Germany.
This one hit hard. Credit to you Steven for getting Terry on here. And credit to Terry for being so insightful and real. Such a talented guy Terry is, comedian, actor, sportsperson, magnetic personality. But human like most. Amazing podcast... Honestly my number one. Your style of having individuals speak and be open is truly amazing. Each podcast you do makes the world wiser and more learned
This is easily the best interview I have ever watched. The bravery and generosity of this beautiful human being, Terry Crewse moved me to tears. I am a white, 61 year old woman and who knew I would identify so much with what Terry explained. He helped me immensely to understand why I react to things the way I have in my life. Thank you both for an amazing, enlightening and captivating discussion.
I watch podcasts most of my life and i can honestly say that this is one of the best podcasts I've ever seen. Crews' honesty and Steven's listening skills are exceptional.
Being born in 1954 with FASD, I was the one who would spill my milk at the table. Was not diagnosed with ADD until 2017, to later also resonate with Autism another 3-4 years later and then finally realize these two diagnoses are due to being born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder after I was told that my dad was a drinker when we were very young. Yes, men’s testicles are bathed in alcohol three to four months before conception and contribute to damaging the brains of their children’s brains. All four grandparents and parents were tobacco users with one grandmother starting snuff tobacco at age 5, mother at 13. Grow up with second and third hand smoke. My facial features gives my FASD away, with thin upper lip, smooth philtrum and low birth weight of 6lbs 6oz according to my recently ordered birth certificate. Both cigarettes and alcohol are neurotoxins and if you want healthy kids avoid both. Turns out my mother gave me a clue before her death from cancer, that I was born with a small head. Both my parents knew I was born with FASD and keep it from me, it’s only due to the clue my mom gave me in 1997, then to not connect everything until 2023 that the reason for my more than usual problems with relationships is me. I’m the common denominator. Bring a people pleaser is caused by trauma and neglect childhood is the most common trauma and I needed more training from my parents. Unfortunately, I was also raised my children in another dysfunctional family environment, for its repeated generationally.
So much respect for Terry being this honest and it can’t have been easy to do. This is the best interview I think I’ve ever listened to and it was nice to just sit and hear Terry’s story. Stephen did amazing in this interview! I didn’t think I could like Terry more than I already did, but I do now!
BRILLIANT INTERVIEW! A conceptually elegant disposition of the psychodynamics of family life, violence, addiction, and recovery! A BIG THANK YOU to MR. CREWS!
So brave to really open up. Porn addiction is something that isn't talked about enough and effects too many people. Great podcast as usual, really deep and authentic!!
This was by far my most favourite episode of Diary of a CEO. The wisdom just pours out of Terry because he’s done the inner work and learnt the lessons. Thank you for allowing Terry to share these life changing lessons with the world ❤️❤️❤️
Terry is the epitome of a real man! Respects honors and protects his mother (which speaks volumes of a man), as well as his wife and daughters -I had the opportunity to meet him and hear him speak in person a year ago and he is really amazing. A true transformation through Christ Jesus!
I have been watching this podcast when there were less than 20,000 subscribers on RUclips. This is one of the best interviews you have done. Terry is so vulnerable and strong all at the same time.
I just love this guy! The way that he open's up about everything. All of his problems, all his strugless, addictions, everything. It takes a real man to do that, and without a doubt, he is truly a real and honest person. Inside an industry so fake as Hollywood, is amazing to see someone so human and honest. And you see him now, you know that he is truly happy, a vivid image of happiness and gratitude. For me, he is a true representation of joy and happiness.
After watching this, I cried for a bit because of how real this is. I've never felt attached really close with anybody, and this level of healing being described in such detail is something I strive for.
I could write a big paragraph on how important this was for me to hear, but all I’ll say is this was one of the most powerful pieces of content I’ve ever seen on RUclips. Thank you Steven❤️
When Terry speaks about coming home from School and drawing out his Imagination inspired by Classmates talking about things he couldn't see or hear like Movies & Music, not only did my Heart break but I felt an incredible need to just hug this Child so deprived and so inflicted upon. When he kissed his Father & it only brought contempt? How Terry's Heart didn't wither & die on the spot ... in that very Moment ... is an honest to god Miracle.
I can relate to Terry on so many levels. Born in 86 and not much was changed back then. My mother did the same thing with the public hair and demanded to see my body and touch my body to see if it was growing (in puberty). I loved White Chicks - it was one of my fav movies as a teen and loved Terry in it - and then Brooklyn 99 was one of my favs - I love seeing happy and fun Terry - but I love and appreciate even more the raw and truthful Terry who tells it how it is and is making changes for other men and people to be better and do better.
Before this conversation started I was expecting to meet Terry Crews, the hilarious comedian and actor who I've admired for so long. But what I got was so much more, thank you Terry 🙏🏻

Man my respect for Terry Crews increased tenfold
The things he has overcome and his brutal honesty about his "demons" just made me question myself as a man and I wish more men were vulnerable like him and are in tune with their emotions like this
If anyone, be it a man or a woman or any gender for that matter, is going through things, please be vulnerable and talk to someone and know that you aren't alone and you too can overcome your demons ❤
This is what real masculinity looks like. What a courageous man. Thanks for sharing it with us Terry. Really appreciate this channel. It is helping me become a better person one interview at a time.
What an incredibly inspiring man - so open and honest. The world needs more of this.
yes well thats up to all of us to be more open and honest..isn't it.It starts with each and everyone one of us and then the world"might change
Completely agree
So inspiring, all men need to see this . What a gift ❤
Crazy how much I could relate to Terry Crews upbringing. If you’re listening to this and you are a father. Break the cycle. It stops with you. Be the person to your children that you needed when you were young.
this is such a beautiful comment
This is one of the most stunning conversations - a complete testimony of his heart told with such intelligence, vulnerability, pain, and great love. Great man.
I don't think I have ever watched an interview and just feel healed. Thank you so much for this, both to Terry and the interviewer 🙌
Terry Crews... A true gentleman & shining example of a great human. One of my favourites.
He was brilliant 🙌🏽Thanks for listening!
What an extraordinary man he has become. GOD Bless Him!
Hey man just to let you know if you need someone to open up to still comment back and I'll give u contact details to reach me, this episode proper got me as a person who is mentally unstable and declared unfit to work. So don't suffer man
Men are vulnerable to porn and it is soul destroying- relationship killer. Trust killer. Marriage killer. Love killer. Family killer.
I ordered 2 of your books Terry for my 31 yo son (abusive dad and abandoned 😢). Hang onto hope FAMILY. Good is always triumphant over diabolical ppl, places and things. Amen❤❤❤🎉
It’s inspiring to hear someone talk vulnerably enough explaining how they worked through generations of abuse.
Big respect for Terry for sharing and being vulnerable
🙏🏽
This man is the definition of a real man. Be true be authentic and be real. He is amazing. Thank you so much for this .

A top interview alround.
Had no idea,he had gone through so much..look how well he turned out
Despite coming from such horrible background...we love and adore you young man!!❤❤
You have to be extremely: confident, intelligent & humble to understand how to ask a question and just let people talk for that long.. I really appreciate it!
What incredible honesty.
Crews could have had a normal conversation, cracked a few jokes, and I would have respected him as I always did. But this level of honesty and introspection is remarkable and truly admirable. This is the sort of dialogue that we need.
The story about the spilled glass of water...when his wife told him he was changed...he felt unconditional love.
Terry really drew me in there. The detail, the way he articulates and explains - he took me on a journey and hooked me in.
I’ve a lot of respect for him - he comes across humble and kind. What a lovely guy and another great episode.
Me too. Great comment
How courageous for Terry to man up and heal his soul… he is such a smart and loving human ❤ I loved this interview.
Thank you.
I now realize Terry is not only a great actor but an incredible person🤍 very nice interview!
His definition of intimacy in a relationship is bang on
I appreciate him offering us his honesty and rawness
Drinking Saltwater is a great analogy
Both me and my lover learned something deep and long lasting from this man x
Much respect for this man revealing his deepest secrets and changing his life for the best.
1. That was a really good interview.
2. I kinda want to hear Terry’s voice used in audiobooks. It’s really engaging.
I agree with you completely about no 2. It was soothing while telling painful stories.
One of the most sincere and vulnerable interviews I’ve ever listened to.
Terrys honesty is a thing of beauty.
If we all applied this I believe our lives would be better.
Blown away by his courageous honesty and transparency! So much respect to you both
Just speechless watching this interview. So powerful, my deepest respect for this man.
Why would you have previously run away if you saw Terry Crews in an alley way?
@@rudebwoy8 Human nature, fight or flight... I'm 5ft 6in, no muscles.
He's the hulk, what's the worst outcome if you didn't know him. Want to take the risk?
@@navmohindra579 simply seeing a person with muscles evokes fight or flight reaction? An average height, slender built person, or indeed anyone, could be a danger. Therefore, I was trying to ascertain why you say that someone that looked like Terry Crews evoked fear in you.

@@navmohindra579 not by look alone, a person is only threatening by their actions. I wonder how you’ve survived in this world thus far chap.
This was one of the most honest and humble interviews I have ever seen. I have so much respect for him. I’m so glad he shared this. It’s helps both men and women. ❤
What an inspiration. To see him be so open about his struggles and vulnerabilities is admirable. He is a hero to many.
Terry is such a great story teller. I think so many men can relate to all he has been through and I thank you for sharing such an inspiring message.
Terry is such a good man even when he said he was bad ...the heart was always there shining bright ❤❤❤
Another great, honest and open conversation. This podcast has been such an inspiration for me hearing so many different life stories so thank you Steven, keep these coming ❤
Do you think he’s honest when he claimed that the 2022 will smith slap inspired him to sue his agent in 2017…? @1:09:45
But you can tell Terry is someone who is ACTUALLY doing the uncomfortable work to make those things a reality
Another great interview 🙌
Exactly
What an amazing and transparent guest Terry Crews is! Absolutely loving the variety of guests on the show 🙌🙌
Thank you 🙏🏽
BRILLIANT INTERVIEW! A conceptually elegant disposition of the psychodynamics of family life, violence, addiction, and recovery! A BIG THANK YOU to MR. CREWS!
So brave to really open up. Porn addiction is something that isn't talked about enough and effects too many people. Great podcast as usual, really deep and authentic!!
his earnestness is so compelling and the interview is impeccably conducted. just marvelous, thank you both❤
This was by far my most favourite episode of Diary of a CEO.
Man, this guy has gone through it. Thanks to him for being so open and honest
Very powerful. Lots of respect to Terry for opening up like that, I can imagine that’s helped him develop as a person SO much
What an incredibly intelligent, sensitive, caring, fascinating man Terry Crews is! I really loved him
I can relate to Terry on so many levels.
This book should be mandatory reading in schools… such wisdom. Fabulous interviewer.
