beautiful photos and region ❄👍
Loved this video. The winter landscape there looks amazing. We haven't had proper snow in Pembrokeshire for about 3 years so i'm really envious. Beautiful photos and lovely composition :-))
Really enjoyed this Jon. I think many people enjoy seeing the process behind the images as much as the picture. Great video quality too.
great shots love that low angle one of the water.
Thanks Bill!
I love these videos! New subscriber!!
Thanks John, you have great timing, we just had a snowstorm hit the New England coast where I live in the U.S. and I was planning on heading out with my camera this weekend. I sat down with my breakfast this morning then Lo and Behold your video popped up in my feed. Great inspiration!
Thanks Richard...when you get the weather you have to strike when the iron is hot...can make such a difference in the final images!
Thanks for the video. Interesting to see the pictures from FZ2000 :)
Thanks Jan!
Enjoyed that one, fantastic location and again top images! Last time I went out in such temperatures '4 weeks ago' I was wearing my ski gloves! :)
Thanks! In fact after this video I decided to buy a pair of proper photography gloves. They were a bit of an investment, but having spent a full day in freezing temperatures chasing after and photographing foxes recently...I don't regret my purchase!
Good stuff and some amazing photographs.
Thanks!
Beautiful Video and great shots!
Thanks!
great vlog Jon, you have a good eye for a composition, i see lots of photographers who are so interested in the big vistas and don't look for the more intimate images.
Thanks Andy. I think if I lived in a place with Big Vistas things might be easier. But I don't so I am learning to look at the small things around me.
Lots more FZ2000 videos please
Enjoyed the video; very inspirational
Thanks Najja!
thanks for video. very nice images!
Thanks Marek!
Enjoyed the vlog, Jon. For the strap, take a look at the Peak Design quick release straps. That way you only have a couple of little toggles on the camera when the strap isn't in use. Cheers.
Hi Simon, thanks for watching! Likewise I'm enjoying your videos up in Northern Yorkshire (my old stomping ground!). I do know of the Peak Design system. I'm just lazy basically. Because I shoot 60-70% wildlife I just leave straps on because I always need them when I shoot wildlife.
Enjoyed the video, lovely light from the low winter sun. We have not had snow here in Menorca for several years!
I use the Peak Design clips on my GH4 strap. I have had problems with the strap causing vibration of the tripod on windy days and for nature macro the subjects are often scared by a flapping strap.
Thanks John. I just went out recently with the GH5 and you'll see in the next video I let loose and went strapless!
Hi Jon, Any chance you can tell me if you used a 67mm ring adapter for this lens and if this model allows for longer exposures on Bulb feature. Top video mate. Greetings from OZ.
Love your videos. Could you tell me is the Panasonic FZ2000 good at taking pictures of small birds? Also has is got a shutter remote Jack?
Great video Jon, really shows what the FZ2000 is capable of. Would you still recommend it now? And ps, what made you use external filters instead of the internal ones? Im assuming because you use graduated ND on some shots?
Hi Kris, the built in filters on the FZ2000 are ND only. Which is great for managing exposure, so these would compensate for using little stoppers as an example. But here I needed to use a combination of grad ND's for the sky and a circular polariser because of colour rendition and potential reflections on the snow.
Why did you use the Lee filters instead of the internal once?
amazing photo and video! how do you compare the lens of FZ2500 and FZ1000 as some reviews said the lens is softer on FZ1000?I just sold FZ1000 and hoped to buy this one or Sony RXIII, any advice please?
I don't think that the lens is softer. I've not seen any issues. Take a look at this video: ruclips.net/video/8UY6rmBXlJ0/видео.html of a shoot I did last year with the FZ1000. From what I saw with the FZ2000 sharpness is across the focal length. I had no issues.
Jon Bryant, Thanks a lot!
where can I get that lens ?
I think your best image here is the one where you are low down with the animal tracks in the foreground. Also, I know you said you prefer to leave the camera strap on because of your other work, but I think the lighter weight camera would be more susceptible to camera shake than a heavier camera i.e. Nikon D810.
How did you change the colors of the image so drastically? The blue in the sky is completely gone. You said the light was very neutral/cold, yet the highlights and whites are showing a ton of pinks and reds. An image is an image and I dont care what it "actually" looked like (end result is all that matters to me), so i hope I dont come off as offensive. Im genuinely interested in your workflow for making post-sunrise images look like so colorful.
Hi Colin, so remember that when I arrived there was colour in the sky as sun broke. Once the sun was up the colour was lost. This was the reason for my comment about the light was very cold winter light - and that was true once the sun was up in the sky. But at daybreak I had oranges, yellows and pink hues in the sky. How did I photograph for these? Well using a circular polariser really helps make the colours pop. Thanks for the question.
What about the temperature? How low can it be?
Hi Geert, the day I shot the video the temperature before sunrise was -12C. I think it got to about -5C by the time I had finished. It was cold.
Jon Bryant can the FZ2000 handle that kind of temperatures?
I mean it isn't weather resistant though..
Weather resistant? I took it out in snow and ice, with temperatures down to -12C and took photos and video clips. The results are in the video. I don't know what your expectations are for weather resistance...I mean if you want a waterproof camera, this isn't that, or if you want a camera you can stand out in the rain with, it isn't that either....but then I have weather resistant cameras too, but would never just let them get wet if I can help it.
No me neither. But I thought there is a minimum temperature at which you could use the camera. But apparently this is not so.
