    Nice Video.
    The Hawk was a juvenile Goshawk, presumably a male.

    Hi.. I think young have photographed a young GOSHAWK and not a young Sparrowhawk.. Check out the baring on the chest?

      Agree that’s a juvenile goshawk.

      Hi Steve, thanks. It may well be. I've photographed many Goshawks in Africa, but I am not used to seeing them here in Europe. So I tend to tell myself it isn't, because I'm not expecting them! We have far more buzzards and sparrow hawks here. I've just looked at some other shots I've taken and indeed I think it is probably a juvenile goshawk. I will take my Collins with me next time, even though it will add extra weight to my bag :-)

      @@JonBryantPhotography You can get iPhone Collins app, its about 15-16€, its juvenile Goshawk. Think you should look for is the vertical stripes on the chest, never on adults Goshawk and both Juv and Ad Sparrowhawk, so its good feature to separate both species.

    • @JonBryantPhotography
      @JonBryantPhotography  3 года назад +1

      @@borisbelchevbspb thanks Boris. As I said in my previous comment - I’m not use to seeing goshawk here in Europe. But indeed as many others have pointed out it’s a goshawk. I’ve done much more bird of prey photography in Southern Africa where the goshawks are much more distinctive. I have Collins hardback version but not on my phone. But hey we all make ID mistakes in birding. It’s not the end of the world 👍🏻😃

      @@JonBryantPhotography Defo juv Gos, plumage on chest/belly is wrong for a Spawk. Easy mistake for those not sure though size should be a giveaway, male Gos is bigger than Fem Spawk. Other than that, lucky you for having that bird come in, very difficult to get in the UK. Great vid Jon =)

    It's interesting that in Europe you have these permanent hides set up for photography. Are these on government property open to public or on private ground and fee based?

    I get so confused about ISO. People say you should have it as low as possible how does such a high ISO affect the image?

    • @JonBryantPhotography

      Hi! Thanks for the comment. If you watch my latest video - I talk about high ISO and the impact it has on the image, as well as how to manage it.
