You are so thorough with your videos. You are amazing!!! Thank you
This is my first year growing hydroponicly. Thanks for all your videos. Also thanks for the pruning advice for tomatoes and peppers. I'm obsessed now with pruning.
Yes, I leave some suckers as well. I’ve never grown hydroponically but I may just try it after watching so many of your vids. Nice 👍🏻🌱👍🏻
Nice vid! Great to see the toms doing well.
You are first person I've seen actually knows how to prune a tomato plant. Leaving too many leaves just directs energy into the leaves, gentle pruning of extra leaves give more energy to the fruit. Kudos!
But a note on that for others reading this, pruning may be bad if your growing a tomato outside and you have very hot days-- the leaves shade the tomatoes so pruning for outside plants would depend on your weather.
Others have told me to cut all the suckers off, which makes no sense to me. I did that on a plant, and then it was suddenly over 7 feet tall and only one stalk! Leaving the suckers and letting them flower should give a broader plant and more fruit. I will do as you are doing in this video and choose suckers to leave.
I love this video!
I Love all Tomatoes . I never do to good growing them outside though. Good job Khang.
Great tips! Lots of good reasons to prune👍
Great Video.
Thank you 😊
I enjoyed your video, thank you.
YES tomatoes!
Cool! Much thanks.
Great vid
That is a really healthy plant you have produced in a very short time Khang! Is there a taste comparison video in the future as your outdoor plants also come into fruit? Happy Gardening! -Bob...
Thank you for these videos on hydroponics and your experiments! It makes it approachable for those of us that are new to hydroponics or gardening or both! Do you sell the seed for your Khang Starr tomato? I'd love to try it!
Okay, may have to tackle growing tomatoes inside in hydro next. I don't think I'd go with indeterminate as that's too big so I'll have to find a tiny variety. Thanks for the details on trimming and such.
I had 2 little aerogarden tomato plants producing more tomatoes than I could eat for 300 days. Usually I clone new plants, but these got stems too thick for the aerogarden and the plants died. I was giving tomatoes to the neighbors. it was fun.
I'm in Texas also! So cold ot got down to -3 here!
I’ve hacked of the main stems at like 3ft or more and just thrown them in a bubbler bucked and had roots the next day. That’s how easy tomatoes are.
Been listening ing while I work on the kitchen bottom leaf prune sunk in
Yes
Wow, another way to use the roc wool, okay. Thanks for the advice. Simple is always best.
Great video sir! I have a ~4.5' grow space, so could i flip lights earlier in vegetative period to maintain a smaller plant?
Nice video. I have a spring near by thats 30 ppm. Would you recommend using that water . My well water is 115 ppm.
Hi Khang! Can you make a video growing strawberry in hydro please. Thanks
Hello Khang, what is the good PH level if you want to be optimal?
what are you growing beside tomato, looks good
This guy haf me change from masterblend to aerogarden nutrients.. 1 bottle only made 10 of my totes lol.. but they grow like magic indoors.. use battery toothbrush to pollinate.
I'm new to all this and am wondering if the plants have to show roots at the bottom of the rockwool before I can put them in a kratky continer or something?
I have a little tomato plant that is about 2 inches tall but no roots show yet.
What size little cups do you use to hold your seedling in the 2”net cup? Are they plastic?
Hi. What grow light do you use?
When is the next episode of what's that pepper series.!?, would it be a good idea to continue the series with chilli peppers from subscribers to keep the series going.
can you tell me what grow light you used in this grow?
HID lighting would be a good option to switch or add to your system when it’s cold. They work well to grow anyways, but you could have used the heat in your tent.
Maybe try a microdwarf tomato if you want to get fruit indoors, you can harvest in 50-60 days.
What is polenating the plant indoors? No need or bugs inside. Please explain. When do yo put this plant outside?
I've been growing tomatoes with Kratky method. Curious, why did you choose DWC for this one???
What lightning do you use?
Excellent video. Can you explain half strength half strength nutrients? Thank you.
If he uses 5 ml per gallon then half would be half of that.... or whatever your fertilizer calls for
Where can I purchase the seeds for the khang starr sweet charry tomato?
just curious Where in TEXAS are you located ?
What are the two type of tomato planets? Berries crazy cherry and King star sweet cherry?
When are you going to create your own tomato variety.!?.
Do you ever get aphids in your tent. Two times now killed everything off due to an aphid infestation. I'm struggling again. And neem oil and dish soap isn't working.
Wow, where did you get those tiny white netcup "holders"? That seems kinda handy to have, as it keeps moisture inside.
I could be wrong, but they look like cheap paper cups
Those are small plastic cups that I cut the bottom out. I ran out of netpots so these work just as well. You can also reuse them many times.
Thank you! Enjoyed the video. Why DWC instead of Kratky?
DWC is best for tomatoes since it will require refilling.
@@KhangStarr thanks for your reply. I have been growing tomatoes Kratky style in my office. I do have to add a gallon or two once a week. But I'm getting a lot of flowers that don't turn into fruit. I think I will try adding a bubbler and see if that helps. Thank you so much for all your videos. I really enjoy them.
@@johnrallison1876shake your plants when flowering to spread pollen from male flowers to females.
Thank you, my so called bush variety is out of control... ordering more lights
What kind of “red” lights are you using for the tomato? Can you please recommend a few quality lights for growing tomatoes indoors please?
I can only recommend what I have personally used. Depending on the size of your grow area, you can get different models. The one in this video is made by Spider Farmer, SF4000 model. I love this light so far.
@@KhangStarr OMG!! Thank you!!! I really appreciate it!! This is very helpful. I'm just starting out and trying to find information.
I haven't had much luck in finding information about growling tomatoes. I've had a few (lets just say) not positive, not helpful and discouraging comments. Growing outside for me is not an option.
How do you control the pest? Are they pest-free inside?
The only pest I often get inside are mites. I use preventive measure by keeping my grow area clean at all times. If I do get them, I spray with a sulfur spray by bonide.
@@KhangStarr thanks man. You the best.
Being able to consistently prune an otherwise 8' high plant was interesting.
Cutting out all those leaves helped me add nutrients less.
AeroGarden site says 11ml per Gallon of water for Vegetables and fruits. ??? That would be over double the 5ml for 1 gallon...???
But if its healthy and productive it doesn't matter. Maybe the higher amt is for like slicing or beefsteak tomotoes, not for dwarf plants.
In my experience, pruning suckers = bigger but fewer tomatoes. Leaving suckers = more but smaller fruit.
but not for cherry t’s. coz they r usually small.

Technically I think tomato is a fruit... or is it?
