I think Boruto actually redeemed the Otsutsuki twist from the end of Naruto. I think Kaguya has become a much more compelling character thanks to Boruto
For me it depends on if they actually bring her back or do anything with her. As it stands we only have theories based on inconsistencies in how the Otsutsuki have been portrayed.

Just give a small hint, like a crack in the moon on the last page of Naruto and she only appears maybe when the first otsutsuki appeared in the series. I think the reason why people hate Boruto is because of how the anime portrayed him in the early part of the show instead of going off what the manga said. “This isn’t my Dad’s story anymore,it’s My story”. Also,the chunin exams/Momoshiki arc didn’t help either.
Its because its BS from the start, IT take what was made un Naruto and managed to do horribly worst, just the characters, another young men, blond hair with just two letter in he's name that are different from he's father, even if we keep that, they could have made a way better story than getting back with otsotsuki (the worst thing introduced in naruto that the big majority of people agree on) the side character were introduced for nothing cause we just see 5% of them, we get hyped about some characters for nothing cause despite they're great power they are useless now cause the enemy are all otsotsuki or now divine tree humanoids (mistuki , sarada let not talk about the ridiculous mangekyo and sharingan awakening of sarada, moegi the first natural wood release user since hashirama) and other characters, characters development don't exist the one who evolve just have a few page just to show they're power up, it's awful from start to finish and I haven't mentioned half of all the issue that make boruto bad and deserving hate, they destroyed naruto univers with BS

Shino being mirai's sensei is such a random combination, shikamru was a good match for her, but if anything konohamaru would've been better since their literally from the same clan
@thenight1647 It'a not random. Shikamaru is more mentor, like Jiraya and Tsunade. Shikamaru did not quit being aide to the Hokage to go be a jounin sensei of genin team. In additon, Shikamaru is probably more of a father to her, than anything else. Isnt he her godfather?

Shino Should've been in the anbu with sai. He was strong enough, because danzo tried taking him to the root, but under Naruto he wouldn't have been a bad anbu u feel
literally Boruto starts with a lesson about "we are our own person and we do not have to pay debt from our fathers sins", it starts making the reader understand that they do not need to be what they fathers were, the story is not a continuation of Naruto story, is its own story Boruto.
I think Kara is more like Orochimaru and Otogakure. 1.Isshiki wants to take over a young boys body. 2. A group of 4-5 not flashtout characters to Battle the young Generation. 3. a mad Scientist 4. Yup always said they are more so like the sound ninja. When u think of it that way they definitely serve their purpose in the story. Can’t compare them to the Akatsuki,it would be underwhelming.
Cant go away from the aliens 1. Naruto introduced them, why would they just never appear again in boruto. 2. Power creep. Naruto is literally the strongest person in the world. You can't make a human villain stronger than him and make it make sense. An alien being stronger than him? Makes sense

They are not an organisation, Otsutsukis are independent individuals and there are untold number of planets out there. Just because Kaguya is interested in earth doesn’t mean every one of them also have to. Introducing more Otsutsuki was a choice, not a necessity. I don’t know why you would bring up the Akatsuki here.
What part of anything Naruto pre timeskip is grounded? People that can breath fire, make water dragons, play with peoples minds making them see things that aren't there CLONES. It's never been grounded since the very beginning.

@MikeMozzaro yep and I think we have seen the bits of it. He often criticises the not-so-well written female characters and fleshing out the side characters, which are both great points I love boruto and we can see it tries these aspects but hey maybe we just have to give it more time
@vibhav6551 I think fixing the female cast would not be the hard part. It would probably be the easiest. Just making Sakura and Ino falling out not be about who gets to be the next Lady Uchiha and instead be about their skills as ninjas, would improve the viewing expirience by a lot. They could both be fans of Tsunade and want to be like her. Sakura bec she is a chakra control genius and Ino bec Tsunade is her cousin. After learning medical ninjutsu with Tsunade, Ino could go train with Aoba or Anko. Hinata could be inspired by Naruto to change the ways of the Hyuuga clan HERSELF, by retaking the role of heir and eventully becoming the head of the clan. It would be intresting if she learned genjutsu from Kurenai. She is the only sensei that did not passed down her jutsu knowlage to at least 1 of her students. Med-nin could also be a path for Hinata. The strenght of 100 seal would be a good contrast to the Hyuuga's cage bird seal. Hinata vs her mom during the war would be sick. Twin lion fists vs twin lion fists. Tenten could be changed from a Bokijutsu specialist to a Kenjutsu specialist. She could train with Raido or Yugao during the time skip. Later, her and Ino could work together, like Raido and Aoba. Tenten could return to med-nin training after the war ends. Or she could become a puppetier, like Kankuro. Puppets are a ninja tool after all. And she has the skills for it - chakra threads and sealing work. She does summuns puppets in Boruto during the chunin exams, so it tracks.
I think Naruto is going to have a small remnant of the 9 tails in him just like Hima. So when he comes back from the dykokuten dimension he will have half the nine tails like Minato had, and in his final moment of self sacrifice he’ll gift his half to hima when she needs it most and she’ll get a huge power up
Sad thing is no matter how good Boruto is or gets, theres always going to be some schmuck out there that will say "The only way to fix Boruto is to have it end with Naruto waking from his Infinite Tsukuyomi dream and destroy Madara"

I think the Otsutsuki is one of the best parts about the Naruto world. They run completely opposite to the central theme of these stories, that hard work overcomes all. They are godlike beings with the ability to absorb chakra and destroy entire planets but they lose time and time again to some determined monkeys. The Otsutsuki are arrogant, lazy, selfish, and cruel, the complete opposite of the Shinobi world. They seem like they should be an unstoppable but threat, but because of how hard Naruto and the rest of their world works, they can overcome these planetary strength beings. I love them as villains and wish they were leaned into more, with a full on Otsutsuki invasion and war
Otsusiki make 95% of the characters irrelevant.Becauase of the power scaling only Boruto,Naruto,Sasuke and Kawaki are relevant. Classic Naruto characters like konohamaro are put to the side bc they don't have alien dna

The real problem with Boruto's "hard work vs technology" theme is that it implies that people who create technology don't work hard/have perserverance.
Boruto's story I'd more interesting then Naruto's story because we're seeing what if Naruto become a rouge ninja something alot of fans want. Plus Boruto fighting style is much different from his father's which makes him so fun to watch. He does use the same four moves it's fresh everytime.

No, no, I think you're on to something. Ant the swords should have a name and be a part of the user. An should be able to transform and have different powers. An the strongest characters should have a second transformation. And when the use it they should yell something like "BANKAI". Now that would be dope.
One thing that I want to see more of in Boruto that I didn’t get enough of in Naruto, is jutsu creation. With the focus shifting more to taijutsu, I want to see what happens when one infuses their taijutsu with certain chakra types. We just got a touch of that with a sword that has magnet release. I want more of that. Imagine if the sword of totsuka could be approximated by a person figuring out how to infuse their weapon (or fists) with ying/yang release? I want to see how it’s developed too, dont just pop up with it.

Episode 1 opens to a demon battling a teleporting magic man and his army of magic people and seal the demon in a baby. It hasn't been about realistic ninjas since before the....hang on. The opening scene is a cold open, it wasn't about ninjas since literally before the opening credits.
One point of theirs I'll agree with is that Scientific Ninja Tools were underutilized. At least early on exploring the ramifications of any random non-ninja having access to high level Ninjutsu would've been fascinating. Make it a commentary on our (the US) gun problem.
Also with the logic of the technology being to advanced Naruto itself was probably in the 90s technology wise Boruto takes place nearly 20 years later and hinestly the technology isnt an insane leap
Read Naruto from the start, had issues but I always liked it. The ending to Shippuden really took me out of it. I didn’t read boruto until I heard nick talking about the timeskip and two blue vortex. Binged it in like a weekend and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The dive into the Ottotsuki explained the things that bothered me at the end of the first series. Do I wish we had it in Naruto? 100%, but we didn’t. The new direction has me hooked. Oh the topic of chakra absorption in boruto. If you ask more Naruto fans what some of the most hype moments were, I’m sure people will mention Gaara v Lee, Lee and Gaara v Kimimoro. Taijutsu when it got the focus was beyond hype. I still remembered when I first read the chunin exams and Sasuke used the sharingan to copy Lee to beat his opponent. The article is just as pretentious as they always are from those kinds of sites.

i'm convinced the only people that hate on boruto have only watched the first few episodes of the anime(around 20) and haven't paid attention to the manga at all....now do I think the anime wasn't that great....yeah I honestly don't care for alot of the filler and feel like they should've waited for more to be written before an anime....but even outside of the filler alot of the manga itself gets boring at times....but SO DOES NARUTO....the nostalgia glasses are usually superglued to peoples faces when comparing boruto to naruto.
honestly ... you are right, that the problems discussed in the article are BS. but I'm tired of people hyping up the Boruto manga to be comparable or better than Naruto ... Naruto is one of the most iconic and most generationally relevant mangas of all time and Boruto is definitely exciting and good in it's own right, but no way comparable to the iconic masterpiece the Naruto manga is still to this day. People grew up with Naruto being one of the greatest series of all time and in comparison, almost no one is reading or watching Boruto who hasn't read/watched it's prequel (and that is what it basically is) Naruto.
Out of all sequel series outside of probably the fate series I’d say Boruto handles the whole need to “reset” the power scaling in between series. Like I may be a crazy but it would completely make sense that in a world that has a 17 year old kid that is able to high five a few thousand troops to give them a buff and others that can take out nations single handed, people would look to find shortcuts to keep up. The technology copying existent jutsu would make sense to be the next step. If it’s effective in general why wouldn’t someone want to copy them? And during peace time a lot of “secrets” wouldn’t be secrets anymore. Think of real life. There’s countries that only have certain weapons as a result of making peace with a stronger nation and having them sold to them, or they are taught how to create them. If anything I’d say Boruto does all this more gracefully than pretty much any other sequel aside from DBZ and fate
13:16 Boruto, in hindsight, did a really good job of telling us that it wouldn’t lean TOO much into the scientific ninja tool stuff by having Naruto- our first protagonist- shame Boruto- his son… our current protagonist- for relying on it. It rounded out that storyline as an early arc, which rallied against it becoming the norm. Then every instance we’ve seen some form of it used since has been in some way made more progressive story-wise through the use of ninjutsu with/against it.
@@FloWoodEnT123 it is suppose to lean into it , the point made by naruto is to not take the easy path out , and that the chunin exams purpose is to showcase your own skill not by copping out . essentially its not borutos use of the ninja tool that was frowned upon but how he used it , and this point is cemented by sasukes training where he corrects borutos polarized view against ninja tools when he develops a black and white view on them after the trauma of the chunin exam embarassment and the ao arc where he learns to accept it as a reality of the world and is able to draw a contrast between the symbiosis between humans and technology with the analogy that ninjas are tools to be used that ao presents . also hes essentially using ninja tools in their intended way the way hes been trained to , he places his thunder devil sigils in kashin kojis toads and plants them in locations as flexible telespots . im sure well see him incorporate his techniques he learned with countless other ninjas tools in a clever way in the future , i feel like were gonna see alot in terms of snt in general .
Screen Rant doesn't deserve any respect. At this point, Boruto is the low-hanging fruit of the anime community, and 9/10 (and I'm being generous here) of the people who slander Boruto haven't learned much about the series after the "I hate dad" era, which was 2017-18. The series wasn't too much when we had colossal chakra suits and avatars, or Madara soloing the entire verse and dropping meteors, but it is when we have extra-dimensional demigods who follow the lore related to the divine trees? All after godlike beings such as Hagoromo? I can't take the slanderers seriously. Anime fans are weird.
Honestly, NChammer I used to feel that you were trying too hard to cater to every corner of the fanbase, the one's who enjoy OG Naruto, the one's who favor Shippuden and then the Boruto enjoyers. I felt as though you tried to satisfy everyone all at once and that was holding the content back. But lately you've been hardcore defending Boruto(Which I really enjoy) knowing that you can get some level of backlash from your opinion and I can't stop myself from respecting that lol. Thanks for being a soldier in the Boruto community. I'm not one of those extremists either, I can critique Boruto as well, I just know it's hard to defend Boruto with a large following. And your theories have been feeling alot more solid too these days as well!
what would make boruto better right now would be a chapter where " punchie punchie" takes place and I mean proper fights with choreography and is hard fought because two blue vortex has been having a problem with actual tense battles because I know for a fact sarada and mitsuki are walking out of shinju fight no problem and Konohamaru needs to survive because he carries narative weight in terms of information he needs to hand off about the shinju knowing about thier originals so the only ones really on the chopping block are the sand ninjas and sword guy is giving off "getting injured ot death flags" because the angry girl causing him to get hurt would increase the drama for her story and might prompt a redemption arc for her so an actual tense fight needs to take place and I don't know high they can facilitate that without ninja tech or Zenkai boost level nonsense.
I get that the alien removal seems ludicrous but honestly if it Naruto's ending was fixed, Boruto would be interesting. And introducing the alien folk on the end of the first ark of Boruto would have been a fire way to up the stakes in the new show. But Boruto is doing the best it can with the worst part of Naruto affecting it heavily
You know what would've really made DBS really stand out? If it moved away from the whole Ki thing, Dragon Ball did it, Z did it. Put it to bed. It's not like Ki is an integral and compelling storytelling vehicle the franchise has pinned its identity to. RIGHT?!
My problem with Boruto AND Naruto is knowing the lore doesn't really help that much in predicting the plot based on inworld logic. The only reliable way to predict what will happen is with meta knowledge about the way the mangaka writes plot. Here's my prediction for what will happen in the next few chapters: Boruto comes to save them(obviously) he kinda wins but then the karma starts acting up. Konahamaru has some realization and jumps to save him and dies/gets eaten. Then the sand dude is killed and gara and gara junior are saved. Gara junior is no longer under omnipotence and convinses Gara that Boruto is the good guy and they are now on his side. Later on they will play some monor role in a plan on how to fix things and will never be of any importance ever again aside from maybe being fotter agains the final BBEG. I AM 1000% SURE. Also at some point they will show jura alone at some mysterious location doing something off camera and hidary is going to be secretly watching him. For the grand reveal its going to turn out that Amado had a secret program in code that made him subconsciously create the shinju and Amado want the shinju to eat both Boruto and kawaki so that there are two chacra fruits - for him and Akebi and they will become the new pair so that amado can protect her forever until she becomes like Shibai, then Shibai is going to interfere giving Boruto power, but Amado's going to have a any Shibai boost(to avoid being the same as waht happened during the final battle in Naruto) so Shibai's power won't be able to help so naruto and Kawaki working together will stop Amado.
*Ninjas Punch Aliens* is an accurate way of scrutinizing the manga. The obsession with Taijutsu actually raises a very good narrative point in the story, where the heroes from the story are going to take the longer, physical, road to victory compared to their peers. Oddly, this means that Kawaki should not be fighting with just his Karma marking. He should have Ninja Tools and rely on "cheating" even more, since narratively he should take more shortcuts. I never understood how/why Kawaki hasn't made any steps to keep cheating until now. He should have literally been trying to amplify his powers with everything possible, including Ninja Tools. Amano converting his invincibility into a glass cannon is a good start, but he'd realistically double/triple down from there. He was getting *embarrassed* by Boruto and he'd realistically do his best to cheat the way up the ladder.
In that period, Kawaki thinks he's strong enough for all the previous threats, he's basically one of the strongest in the verse pre-time-skip. He didn't think he needed an upgrade up until now where he got humbled and humiliated by multiple people. It's not for no reason.

The only real issue i have with Boruto is in tje beginning how Naruto is not a present father. For someone who understands the loneliness not having a family does to you, he should have been more present. Instead of sending a clone to himawari's birthday, have a clone in the office. Delegate some work to your staff. I know he cares about his family. Also, stop making the konichis all housewives!
That's the beauty of a character, it has a flaw. Naruto being a present father would make more sense, but the story reminds us that no matter how perfect a human is they're not bound to not have flaws. And the fact that after that not present arc, Naruto becomes more present is a really good character development for him. It's no longer his story but he still has a good character development. It's actually making Naruto as a character better imo. And the housewives characters. Obviously it'd be cool to see the oh kunoichis still on the battlefield. And some of them are still by the way just not in a big battle role but still critical for the village. Ino the head of sensory stuff, Sakura the head of the medical stuff, Temari still an active jonin while being a good housewife, tenten active jonin too and is one of the proctors/Committees in the genin/chunin exam. And it's a good enough role. Bringing them back in the story would only take away the screentime from the new gen the actual cast of the story.
Nick you make alot of fantastic points in this video that open my eyes a bit more to Boruto. I want to give Boruto another shot because I loved Naruto so much. I just couldn’t get past the chunnin exams arc and how Boruto was as a character. It hurt me to see my favorite characters become backseats in this story, but as you said “this is BORUTO. Not Naruto”. I also, don’t really care for all the okutsuki stuff. Im not trying to comment and be negative, so does anyone have some dope feedback on how to push past it haha? I’m considering picking up the mangas to get hopefully a different perspective. Great video as always sir!
We can’t forget they literally have a TV/display board during the Chunin exams so like… they were already becoming technically advanced in Naruto in the beginning of the story
I believe a good twist to stay away from aliens since the beginning, could have been that somehow Konoha was the village that went ballistic and the “bad guys” and actually have a grand plan. Like if somehow a “black zetsu” type character was introduced that came from madara and it infects sasuke and is a kind of virus or anything that could spread and now essentially “we are the bad guys” and a sasuke controles by madara spreads his will to counquer. Maybe the plot could have still have boruto as a rouge ninja, since as maybe he is somehow immune to this and he tries to save the world from the shadows. To some degree several aspects could be taken from de current plot and modified to keep characters like de droids and amados existance with amados acting could be somehow triggered the infection and could even be that the clones (jura and them all) are the corrupted version but maybe much weaker since there would me more of them and re decide where yo draw the new line on power leven and avoid this inmence power creep where realisticly, on le about 8 characters fight and be even relevant to consider in any conversation.
Unfortunately all of the novels and manga are expensive here in Souht Africa in the book stores that are not alot in CPT or easy to find as well as alot of manga books never make it here so generally some series wont have all of the books (cuz for what ever reason) so for the average person here not easy to read and reading ebooks is not the same 4 me personally.
Heres the thing, im only interested in new techniques in Boruto, n i love Boruto’s character. Im to the point rn that the recent chapters are boring to me bcuz i just want to see more of Boruto and what he has in his bag, but I understand y they must be put in place, and in the whole grand scheme of things itll make the manga better n more interesting. Boruto is currently the best written shounen out rn, one piece is sorta feeling dragged out, jjk n mha are over, db is on a massive break understandably. But even then none of them compare to Boruto TBV atleast written wise and currently. So personally i think Boruto is in a really good spot i mean wen ur the face of ur company it says something.
The last point's pretty funny, because Boruto actually focuses on more non-shinobi characters than ever? Kawaki, Amado, Eida are all plot significant non-shinobi. The latter two aren't even combat oriented, and yet still have a huge effect on the plot. I do kinda agree with the point about Ame, but not that it makes Naruto a bad Hokage (he's pretty obviously good, given, like, everything else.) And I know the novel kinda explains why they can't help Ame, but the way it's presented in the anime is 100% a bad look, it's like everyone just kind of forgot about it.
I genuinely used to not like boruto like damn near at all but I came around to it a lil before the ishiki stuff kinda when kawaki came in because I was anime only a min and just saw a lot of filler which for the most part I didn’t like so I judged off that but when I watched your videos on the manga side which I never really paid attention to before I actually started to like it now I’m caught up on the anime and lowkey thinking bout reading the manga usually I just watch your chapter reviews
Maybe one day we'll get an actually good article that lists the genuine problems with this franchise. It's not that hard, Nick has been pointing them out for years.
I don't get it man, I loved Boruto's story since the first time I started it way back, just after grinding through Shipudden and loving the Last, I heard about Boruto anime, heard it had better, colorful, dynamic animated fights and just hopped on, And I simply loved it, infact by the time Boruto kicked ass in Mist village, I loved the series way more than Shipudden already. With the added internal conflicts of Uchiha family in Shin arc, subtle hints of Naruto's bad parenting through both Naruto and Boruto's perspective, Like everything seemed way more grounded, realistic and character seemed way more deep. By the time Momoshiki simply arrived suddenly, I was genuinely surprised and was just so invested, the momoshiki's transformation made him my most favorite character immediately. I don't get the whole "Where are Rock Lee and Kiba and other konoha 13", like wtf, I legitimately forgot they existed in Shipudden since Akatsuki rolled in. If they weren't important in Shipudden, why would they show up in Boruto, plus I watched all fillers and anime only, so I saw all of them, and yeah, interesting lives, still not relevant to main story. I'd say the only thing tbv has to focus on is stay consistent with the themes and vibes.
I will say, I do wish that anti jutsu routes where handled differently because absorption isn't interesting when everyone has it. Same for the shrinking of jutsus. I think when people said they wanted more taijutsu in boruto, they meant a equal combination of all 3 jutsus. Also I hope sasuke taught boruto kirin because we need more jutsus than can be absorbed
But the peoples' complaints are about "Ninja no longer being a Ninja" and since the og naruto. Being able to perform ninjutsu and genjutsu is not even a ninja ability. So to say the peoples' wants is to have all 3 jutsus to be useful again as a ninja is just the wrong criticism. They should've said "make Boruto a Naruto story 2.0" instead of "make Boruto a ninja again"

On no planet, did you really say ninja don't perform ninjutsu and genjutsu. Ninjas don't perform tricks like genjutsu. The most common form of ninjutsu in media and stories is fireball from the mouth. Where do you get your info from. When I say these things, I don't take what people say, I take what they mean. What they mean is they want harmony. People have wanted genjutsu back for over a decade. But borutos characters revolve around countering ninjutsu on both sides, and I don't even know why genjutsu died with how cool it is.

And if what they mean is they want more harmony of the 3 jutsus they shouldn't have said "bring back ninja". And Genjutsu dies because it barely a good way of "fighting" in a shonen battle. Do you really want to sit and watch a "ninja" casting illusion on each other rather than watching ninja actually fighting hand to hand? No. The ninjas can try to use it for the sake of "harmony of 3 jutsus" but even then it would be ineffective. This ineffectiveness in Genjutsu doesn't happen in Boruto too, that's the Shippuden problem. The reason is because the antagonists are starting to be immune to it or at least have a higher Genjutsu resistance. That's why Genjutsu is off the table. And the Ninjutsu one is never dead, it was only ineffective in Boruto against chakra based jutsus absorption antagonists. Which only happens against momo and Isshiki. The other times they still use it. And even now in the latest tbv where the Shinjuu doesn't have the ability to absorb like momo and Isshiki. Sarada uses chidori, konohamaru with rasen-barricade, Mizuki with snake clones, lightning based Ninjutsu, Boruto multiple different jutsus too. So yeah the reason why Genjutsu died as well as the minimal performance of Ninjutsu is pretty explainable and makes sense. Also you can use the condescending tone or whatever. But that will only show your inability to argue.

I have no idea why you bring up history when we are talking about a Shonen. last time I checked, no ninjas were doing the taijutsu from boruto or Naruto. we don't have ninjas using anti detection ninjutsu and turning into enemy allies with their spiritual chakra in the olden days. that's just weird and an irrelevant point. if you believe genjutsu is boring, then you must hate the itachi vs. sasuke fight because a third of that was genjutsu done right. it's even more relavant now since genjutsu can't be absorbed by karma. I mean people can’t say that there wasn’t a lead up to kaguya, the sage of Six paths was mentioned multiple times way before the war arc and was talked about as a god. Someone who has powers beyond Madara and hashirama the strongest shinobis to ever live. The fact that the sage of six paths exist should’ve been enough of an indication for kaguya. And I agree the introduction of the otsutsuki does make Naruto make sense. It literally explains how the Naruto verse became the Naruto verse.

I got into Naruto just because it was something to watch growing up. As I got older, it felt like I was growing right along with Naruto going into Shippuden and even got into writing, drawing comics more, etc. I admit, I judged Boruto harsh at first, but now I'm so interested that I say let em cook. From Naruto+filler, to Shippuden+fillet and going into Boruto, the full nine yards I am enjoying the journey. Just waiting to see what happens next
The only thing I have to say to anyone who wants to go the whole baruto is to tech based... what do you consider puppet jutsu or god forbid the human puppet jutsu. Ao and Shinobi wear is just the next extention of puppet jutsu.
This is only vaguely related but I do remember when reading Naruto starting to hope Naruto wouldn't become Hokage because he'd realize he just wanted to be accepted and being Hokage kind of sucks. Like a lot of the story was demystifying the Hokage position, and I thought could have been kind of cool character progression personally
Keep in mind that while Naruto has 700 chapters, those were weekly while Boruto is monthly. A monthly manga has about 3x the pages of a weekly manga but is also generally expected to be faster paced. Boruto has suffered from the pacing of a weekly manga with some extra pages rather than more of a monthly pace. Meaning 700 weekly chapters is really more like 140 monthly chapters. And a time skip at 245 in weekly terms is more like chapter 49 in monthly terms.

I think the reason why people hate Boruto is because of how the anime portrayed him in the early part of the show instead of going off what the manga said. “This isn’t my Dad’s story anymore,it’s My story”. Also,the chunin exams/Momoshiki arc didn’t help either.

Just making Sakura and Ino falling out not be about who gets to be the next Lady Uchiha and instead be about their skills as ninjas, would improve the viewing expirience by a lot. They could both be fans of Tsunade and want to be like her. Sakura bec she is a chakra control genius and Ino bec Tsunade is her cousin. After learning medical ninjutsu with Tsunade, Ino could go train with Aoba or Anko.
Hinata could be inspired by Naruto to change the ways of the Hyuuga clan HERSELF, by retaking the role of heir and eventully becoming the head of the clan. It would be intresting if she learned genjutsu from Kurenai. She is the only sensei that did not passed down her jutsu knowlage to at least 1 of her students. Med-nin could also be a path for Hinata. The strenght of 100 seal would be a good contrast to the Hyuuga's cage bird seal. Hinata vs her mom during the war would be sick. Twin lion fists vs twin lion fists.
Tenten could be changed from a Bokijutsu specialist to a Kenjutsu specialist. She could train with Raido or Yugao during the time skip. Later, her and Ino could work together, like Raido and Aoba. Tenten could return to med-nin training after the war ends.
Or she could become a puppetier, like Kankuro. Puppets are a ninja tool after all. And she has the skills for it - chakra threads and sealing work. She does summuns puppets in Boruto during the chunin exams, so it tracks.

I think Naruto is going to have a small remnant of the 9 tails in him just like Hima. So when he comes back from the dykokuten dimension he will have half the nine tails like Minato had, and in his final moment of self sacrifice he’ll gift his half to hima when she needs it most and she’ll get a huge power up
Sad thing is no matter how good Boruto is or gets, theres always going to be some schmuck out there that will say "The only way to fix Boruto is to have it end with Naruto waking from his Infinite Tsukuyomi dream and destroy Madara"

I think the Otsutsuki is one of the best parts about the Naruto world. They run completely opposite to the central theme of these stories, that hard work overcomes all. They are godlike beings with the ability to absorb chakra and destroy entire planets but they lose time and time again to some determined monkeys. The Otsutsuki are arrogant, lazy, selfish, and cruel, the complete opposite of the Shinobi world. They seem like they should be an unstoppable but threat, but because of how hard Naruto and the rest of their world works, they can overcome these planetary strength beings. I love them as villains and wish they were leaned into more, with a full on Otsutsuki invasion and war

The real problem with Boruto's "hard work vs technology" theme is that it implies that people who create technology don't work hard/have perserverance.
Boruto's story I'd more interesting then Naruto's story because we're seeing what if Naruto become a rouge ninja something alot of fans want. Plus Boruto fighting style is much different from his father's which makes him so fun to watch. He does use the same four moves it's fresh everytime.

No, no, I think you're on to something. Ant the swords should have a name and be a part of the user. An should be able to transform and have different powers. An the strongest characters should have a second transformation. And when the use it they should yell something like "BANKAI". Now that would be dope.
One thing that I want to see more of in Boruto that I didn’t get enough of in Naruto, is jutsu creation. With the focus shifting more to taijutsu, I want to see what happens when one infuses their taijutsu with certain chakra types.
We just got a touch of that with a sword that has magnet release. I want more of that. Imagine if the sword of totsuka could be approximated by a person figuring out how to infuse their weapon (or fists) with ying/yang release? I want to see how it’s developed too, dont just pop up with it.

It hasn't been about realistic ninjas since before the....hang on. The opening scene is a cold open, it wasn't about ninjas since literally before the opening credits.
One point of theirs I'll agree with is that Scientific Ninja Tools were underutilized. At least early on exploring the ramifications of any random non-ninja having access to high level Ninjutsu would've been fascinating. Make it a commentary on our (the US) gun problem.

Read Naruto from the start, had issues but I always liked it. The ending to Shippuden really took me out of it. I didn’t read boruto until I heard nick talking about the timeskip and two blue vortex. Binged it in like a weekend and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The dive into the Ottotsuki explained the things that bothered me at the end of the first series. Do I wish we had it in Naruto? 100%, but we didn’t. The new direction has me hooked.
Oh the topic of chakra absorption in boruto. If you ask more Naruto fans what some of the most hype moments were, I’m sure people will mention Gaara v Lee, Lee and Gaara v Kimimoro. Taijutsu when it got the focus was beyond hype. I still remembered when I first read the chunin exams and Sasuke used the sharingan to copy Lee to beat his opponent.

i'm convinced the only people that hate on boruto have only watched the first few episodes of the anime(around 20) and haven't paid attention to the manga at all....now do I think the anime wasn't that great....yeah I honestly don't care for alot of the filler and feel like they should've waited for more to be written before an anime....but even outside of the filler alot of the manga itself gets boring at times....but SO DOES NARUTO....the nostalgia glasses are usually superglued to peoples faces when comparing boruto to naruto.

but I'm tired of people hyping up the Boruto manga to be comparable or better than Naruto ... Naruto is one of the most iconic and most generationally relevant mangas of all time and Boruto is definitely exciting and good in it's own right, but no way comparable to the iconic masterpiece the Naruto manga is still to this day.
People grew up with Naruto being one of the greatest series of all time and in comparison, almost no one is reading or watching Boruto who hasn't read/watched it's prequel (and that is what it basically is) Naruto.
There are actual problems with Boruto but this article somehow manages to name none.
Out of all sequel series outside of probably the fate series I’d say Boruto handles the whole need to “reset” the power scaling in between series. Like I may be a crazy but it would completely make sense that in a world that has a 17 year old kid that is able to high five a few thousand troops to give them a buff and others that can take out nations single handed, people would look to find shortcuts to keep up. The technology copying existent jutsu would make sense to be the next step. If it’s effective in general why wouldn’t someone want to copy them? And during peace time a lot of “secrets” wouldn’t be secrets anymore. Think of real life. There’s countries that only have certain weapons as a result of making peace with a stronger nation and having them sold to them, or they are taught how to create them. If anything I’d say Boruto does all this more gracefully than pretty much any other sequel aside from DBZ and fate

Boruto, in hindsight, did a really good job of telling us that it wouldn’t lean TOO much into the scientific ninja tool stuff by having Naruto- our first protagonist- shame Boruto- his son… our current protagonist- for relying on it. It rounded out that storyline as an early arc, which rallied against it becoming the norm. Then every instance we’ve seen some form of it used since has been in some way made more progressive story-wise through the use of ninjutsu with/against it.
@@FloWoodEnT123 it is suppose to lean into it , the point made by naruto is to not take the easy path out , and that the chunin exams purpose is to showcase your own skill not by copping out . essentially its not borutos use of the ninja tool that was frowned upon but how he used it , and this point is cemented by sasukes training where he corrects borutos polarized view against ninja tools when he develops a black and white view on them after the trauma of the chunin exam embarassment and the ao arc where he learns to accept it as a reality of the world and is able to draw a contrast between the symbiosis between humans and technology with the analogy that ninjas are tools to be used that ao presents .
also hes essentially using ninja tools in their intended way the way hes been trained to , he places his thunder devil sigils in kashin kojis toads and plants them in locations as flexible telespots . im sure well see him incorporate his techniques he learned with countless other ninjas tools in a clever way in the future , i feel like were gonna see alot in terms of snt in general .

Screen Rant doesn't deserve any respect. At this point, Boruto is the low-hanging fruit of the anime community, and 9/10 (and I'm being generous here) of the people who slander Boruto haven't learned much about the series after the "I hate dad" era, which was 2017-18.
The series wasn't too much when we had colossal chakra suits and avatars, or Madara soloing the entire verse and dropping meteors, but it is when we have extra-dimensional demigods who follow the lore related to the divine trees? All after godlike beings such as Hagoromo? I can't take the slanderers seriously. Anime fans are weird.

Honestly, NChammer I used to feel that you were trying too hard to cater to every corner of the fanbase, the one's who enjoy OG Naruto, the one's who favor Shippuden and then the Boruto enjoyers. I felt as though you tried to satisfy everyone all at once and that was holding the content back. But lately you've been hardcore defending Boruto(Which I really enjoy) knowing that you can get some level of backlash from your opinion and I can't stop myself from respecting that lol. what would make boruto better right now would be a chapter where " punchie punchie" takes place and I mean proper fights with choreography and is hard fought because two blue vortex has been having a problem with actual tense battles because I know for a fact sarada and mitsuki are walking out of shinju fight no problem and Konohamaru needs to survive because he carries narative weight in terms of information he needs to hand off about the shinju knowing about thier originals so the only ones really on the chopping block are the sand ninjas
and sword guy is giving off "getting injured ot death flags" because the angry girl causing him to get hurt would increase the drama for her story and might prompt a redemption arc for her
so an actual tense fight needs to take place and I don't know high they can facilitate that without ninja tech or Zenkai boost level nonsense.

My problem with Boruto AND Naruto is knowing the lore doesn't really help that much in predicting the plot based on inworld logic. The only reliable way to predict what will happen is with meta knowledge about the way the mangaka writes plot. Here's my prediction for what will happen in the next few chapters: Boruto comes to save them(obviously) he kinda wins but then the karma starts acting up. Konahamaru has some realization and jumps to save him and dies/gets eaten. Then the sand dude is killed and gara and gara junior are saved. Gara junior is no longer under omnipotence and convinses Gara that Boruto is the good guy and they are now on his side. Later on they will play some monor role in a plan on how to fix things and will never be of any importance ever again aside from maybe being fotter agains the final BBEG. I AM 1000% SURE.
Also at some point they will show jura alone at some mysterious location doing something off camera and hidary is going to be secretly watching him.
For the grand reveal its going to turn out that Amado had a secret program in code that made him subconsciously create the shinju and Amado want the shinju to eat both Boruto and kawaki so that there are two chacra fruits - for him and Akebi and they will become the new pair so that amado can protect her forever until she becomes like Shibai, then Shibai is going to interfere giving Boruto power, but Amado's going to have a any Shibai boost(to avoid being the same as waht happened during the final battle in Naruto) so Shibai's power won't be able to help so naruto and Kawaki working together will stop Amado.
*Ninjas Punch Aliens* is an accurate way of scrutinizing the manga. The obsession with Taijutsu actually raises a very good narrative point in the story, where the heroes from the story are going to take the longer, physical, road to victory compared to their peers. Oddly, this means that Kawaki should not be fighting with just his Karma marking. He should have Ninja Tools and rely on "cheating" even more, since narratively he should take more shortcuts.
I never understood how/why Kawaki hasn't made any steps to keep cheating until now. He should have literally been trying to amplify his powers with everything possible, including Ninja Tools. Amano converting his invincibility into a glass cannon is a good start, but he'd realistically double/triple down from there. He was getting *embarrassed* by Boruto and he'd realistically do his best to cheat the way up the ladder.
In that period, Kawaki thinks he's strong enough for all the previous threats, he's basically one of the strongest in the verse pre-time-skip. He didn't think he needed an upgrade up until now where he got humbled and humiliated by multiple people. It's not for no reason.

The only real issue i have with Boruto is in tje beginning how Naruto is not a present father. For someone who understands the loneliness not having a family does to you, he should have been more present. Instead of sending a clone to himawari's birthday, have a clone in the office. Delegate some work to your staff. I know he cares about his family. Also, stop making the konichis all housewives!
That's the beauty of a character, it has a flaw. Naruto being a present father would make more sense, but the story reminds us that no matter how perfect a human is they're not bound to not have flaws. And the fact that after that not present arc, Naruto becomes more present is a really good character development for him. It's no longer his story but he still has a good character development. It's actually making Naruto as a character better imo.
And the housewives characters. Obviously it'd be cool to see the oh kunoichis still on the battlefield. And some of them are still by the way just not in a big battle role but still critical for the village. Ino the head of sensory stuff, Sakura the head of the medical stuff, Temari still an active jonin while being a good housewife, tenten active jonin too and is one of the proctors/Committees in the genin/chunin exam. And it's a good enough role. Bringing them back in the story would only take away the screentime from the new gen the actual cast of the story.
A companion Manga, like My Hero: Vigilantes, that goes over what shikadai and the others did during the time skip or in the background of events.
Nick you make alot of fantastic points in this video that open my eyes a bit more to Boruto. I want to give Boruto another shot because I loved Naruto so much. I just couldn’t get past the chunnin exams arc and how Boruto was as a character. It hurt me to see my favorite characters become backseats in this story, but as you said “this is BORUTO. Not Naruto”. I also, don’t really care for all the okutsuki stuff. Im not trying to comment and be negative, so does anyone have some dope feedback on how to push past it haha? I’m considering picking up the mangas to get hopefully a different perspective. Great video as always sir!
We can’t forget they literally have a TV/display board during the Chunin exams so like… they were already becoming technically advanced in Naruto in the beginning of the story

I believe a good twist to stay away from aliens since the beginning, could have been that somehow Konoha was the village that went ballistic and the “bad guys” and actually have a grand plan. Like if somehow a “black zetsu” type character was introduced that came from madara and it infects sasuke and is a kind of virus or anything that could spread and now essentially “we are the bad guys” and a sasuke controles by madara spreads his will to counquer. Maybe the plot could have still have boruto as a rouge ninja, since as maybe he is somehow immune to this and he tries to save the world from the shadows. To some degree several aspects could be taken from de current plot and modified to keep characters like de droids and amados existance with amados acting could be somehow triggered the infection and could even be that the clones (jura and them all) are the corrupted version but maybe much weaker since there would me more of them and re decide where yo draw the new line on power leven and avoid this inmence power creep where realisticly, on le about 8 characters fight and be even relevant to consider in any conversation.
Unfortunately all of the novels and manga are expensive here in Souht Africa in the book stores that are not alot in CPT or easy to find as well as alot of manga books never make it here so generally some series wont have all of the books (cuz for what ever reason) so for the average person here not easy to read and reading ebooks is not the same 4 me personally.
Heres the thing, im only interested in new techniques in Boruto, n i love Boruto’s character. Im to the point rn that the recent chapters are boring to me bcuz i just want to see more of Boruto and what he has in his bag, but I understand y they must be put in place, and in the whole grand scheme of things itll make the manga better n more interesting. Boruto is currently the best written shounen out rn, one piece is sorta feeling dragged out, jjk n mha are over, db is on a massive break understandably. But even then none of them compare to Boruto TBV atleast written wise and currently. So personally i think Boruto is in a really good spot i mean wen ur the face of ur company it says something.
The last point's pretty funny, because Boruto actually focuses on more non-shinobi characters than ever? Kawaki, Amado, Eida are all plot significant non-shinobi. The latter two aren't even combat oriented, and yet still have a huge effect on the plot.
I do kinda agree with the point about Ame, but not that it makes Naruto a bad Hokage (he's pretty obviously good, given, like, everything else.) And I know the novel kinda explains why they can't help Ame, but the way it's presented in the anime is 100% a bad look, it's like everyone just kind of forgot about it.

I don't get it man, I loved Boruto's story since the first time I started it way back, just after grinding through Shipudden and loving the Last, I heard about Boruto anime, heard it had better, colorful, dynamic animated fights and just hopped on, And I simply loved it, infact by the time Boruto kicked ass in Mist village, I loved the series way more than Shipudden already. With the added internal conflicts of Uchiha family in Shin arc, subtle hints of Naruto's bad parenting through both Naruto and Boruto's perspective, Like everything seemed way more grounded, realistic and character seemed way more deep. By the time Momoshiki simply arrived suddenly, I was genuinely surprised and was just so invested, the momoshiki's transformation made him my most favorite character immediately.
I don't get the whole "Where are Rock Lee and Kiba and other konoha 13", like wtf, I legitimately forgot they existed in Shipudden since Akatsuki rolled in.
If they weren't important in Shipudden, why would they show up in Boruto, plus I watched all fillers and anime only, so I saw all of them, and yeah, interesting lives, still not relevant to main story.
I'd say the only thing tbv has to focus on is stay consistent with the themes and vibes.
I will say, I do wish that anti jutsu routes where handled differently because absorption isn't interesting when everyone has it. Same for the shrinking of jutsus. I think when people said they wanted more taijutsu in boruto, they meant a equal combination of all 3 jutsus.
Also I hope sasuke taught boruto kirin because we need more jutsus than can be absorbed
But the peoples' complaints are about "Ninja no longer being a Ninja" and since the og naruto. Being able to perform ninjutsu and genjutsu is not even a ninja ability. So to say the peoples' wants is to have all 3 jutsus to be useful again as a ninja is just the wrong criticism. They should've said "make Boruto a Naruto story 2.0" instead of "make Boruto a ninja again"

On no planet, did you really say ninja don't perform ninjutsu and genjutsu. Ninjas don't perform tricks like genjutsu. The most common form of ninjutsu in media and stories is fireball from the mouth. Where do you get your info from.
When I say these things, I don't take what people say, I take what they mean. What they mean is they want harmony. People have wanted genjutsu back for over a decade. But borutos characters revolve around countering ninjutsu on both sides, and I don't even know why genjutsu died with how cool it is.

And Genjutsu dies because it barely a good way of "fighting" in a shonen battle. Do you really want to sit and watch a "ninja" casting illusion on each other rather than watching ninja actually fighting hand to hand? No. The ninjas can try to use it for the sake of "harmony of 3 jutsus" but even then it would be ineffective. This ineffectiveness in Genjutsu doesn't happen in Boruto too, that's the Shippuden problem. The reason is because the antagonists are starting to be immune to it or at least have a higher Genjutsu resistance. That's why Genjutsu is off the table.
And the Ninjutsu one is never dead, it was only ineffective in Boruto against chakra based jutsus absorption antagonists. Which only happens against momo and Isshiki. The other times they still use it. And even now in the latest tbv where the Shinjuu doesn't have the ability to absorb like momo and Isshiki. Sarada uses chidori, konohamaru with rasen-barricade, Mizuki with snake clones, lightning based Ninjutsu, Boruto multiple different jutsus too.
So yeah the reason why Genjutsu died as well as the minimal performance of Ninjutsu is pretty explainable and makes sense.

if you believe genjutsu is boring, then you must hate the itachi vs. sasuke fight because a third of that was genjutsu done right. it's even more relavant now since genjutsu can't be absorbed by karma. I mean people can’t say that there wasn’t a lead up to kaguya, the sage of Six paths was mentioned multiple times way before the war arc and was talked about as a god. Someone who has powers beyond Madara and hashirama the strongest shinobis to ever live. The fact that the sage of six paths exist should’ve been enough of an indication for kaguya. And I agree the introduction of the otsutsuki does make Naruto make sense. It literally explains how the Naruto verse became the Naruto verse.

2. Ninjutsu negation bring back good old tajjutsu exchanges. For me it's way more interesting than megazords fighting with chakra bombs.

From Naruto+filler, to Shippuden+fillet and going into Boruto, the full nine yards I am enjoying the journey. Just waiting to see what happens next

The only thing I have to say to anyone who wants to go the whole baruto is to tech based... what do you consider puppet jutsu or god forbid the human puppet jutsu. Ao and Shinobi wear is just the next extention of puppet jutsu.
This is only vaguely related but I do remember when reading Naruto starting to hope Naruto wouldn't become Hokage because he'd realize he just wanted to be accepted and being Hokage kind of sucks. Like a lot of the story was demystifying the Hokage position, and I thought could have been kind of cool character progression personally
Keep in mind that while Naruto has 700 chapters, those were weekly while Boruto is monthly. A monthly manga has about 3x the pages of a weekly manga but is also generally expected to be faster paced. Boruto has suffered from the pacing of a weekly manga with some extra pages rather than more of a monthly pace. Meaning 700 weekly chapters is really more like 140 monthly chapters. And a time skip at 245 in weekly terms is more like chapter 49 in monthly terms.
