Most people don’t realize it also means awe and reverence along with terrifying.

Well, the fear of God is more than "bowing down" and of being full of awe (or of giving a show of same, as is easy to do, say among "church" friends). The fear of God is refraining from doing what you may want to do, because you know God will correct His child from doing wrong, by whatever means it takes. I don't fear the law so much as I fear what God will do if I step out of the line He draws for me. "Come, you children, listen to me, I will teach you the fear of the Lord", is no joke. Wisdom means it when She says "All who hate me love death." Of course, if you actually don't belong to God, but pretend to yourself you do, you'll do what you want, because you don't actually believe God exists, and that He can "see" better than you can.

That is such a wonderful question for each of us to answer (i.e., "Why am I a creationist?").
My answer, in short, is that I want to believe what is true, and I certainly don't want to believe what is false! And, in my searching for truth, I have found God's word (which teaches me that He created all things) to be truth!
So, why wouldn't anyone want to believe what is true; why wouldn't anyone be a Biblical creationist?

Both you and Samuel have lack of knowledge.
The *"Fossil record"* is not a proof of old earth, but is evidence of a global calamity (The Flood in Noah's time), which denotes a *young earth* that is a truth that you have been persuaded against by rejecting God.
In other words, there is plenty of *TRUTH* that you have been persuaded out of by your schooling and not looking at the evidence for yourself and taking it *on faith* that your education was true: not the faith, as in Pistas, which is the Greek for *TRUST*
Yours is the blind faith in the conversation if you believe in millions of years.
Fossils can form. In months not years.
Explain fossilized fish who are eating other fish, fish giving birth - fossilized.
Like a photo, not millions of years.

@@Alec_Cox so if the fossil record is proof that there was a world wide flood why do we not find bunnies next to mastodons? Or chicken fossils mixed in with stegosaurus fossils? I think you should clarify what you mean by wives should fear their husbands, like someone said, perfect love casts out fear. Unfortunately , 90% of the time men take those phrases out of context and use them to lord it over their wives. 90% of the time, somehow, men/preachers stop with the verses about the wife's role in marriage, and somehow forget all about how men are supposed to give themselves up for their wives, as Christ gave himself up for the church. And also to not be harsh with their children. All things should be said in context , because to live a life in fear, as we usually understand fear, is to be paralyzed with what someone could do to you. And that is what all too many men do to their wives. I don't think God wants us to have a mental breakdown for fear of what he can do, but would never do, to those he loves.

A little things about Samuel. He was down on himself for another reason. Remember that his sons did not follow in his path and took bribes and were corrupt. Samuel realized that it was his lack of disciplining his sons that brought the people to the point where they wanted a king instead of the judges. Now of course, this is not the only reason and they did reject God the Father but Samuel because of Eli's influence in not using the rod of his own sons neglected to do the same on his and caused or became the beginning of the cause of the rejection of the judges and in turn the rejection of the Father Himself.

note: the understanding needs to be asked and be given by the author. this is what david did and thus he can claim that he is wiser than the wisest of old who only depend his and on human wisdom. david's wisdom is learned from the wisdom of the creator of the universe!

Wait, so even though both scientific method as well as high order reasoning played a huge role, to the glory of God, in enabling you to uncover the remarkable things you've uncovered, and enabling you to propose the profoundly insightful things you've proposed, you nonetheless require yourself to abandon both science and reason in order to accept the idea that the Earth and all the Universe is a mere 6,000 years old ...and that all the genetic diversity among all of mankind developed in just over 4,000 years? Shocking. Multiple, advanced forms of measurement from multiple, independent scientific disciplines have simply shown beyond any doubt that we, and it, have been here untold aeons. One can accept that and still believe that it was YHWH who created every lick of it. One can also accept that God's word doesn't "fail" of divinity just because in places it entertains myth. I would argue, in fact, that it takes GREATER faith to believe it divine when it DOES contain myth than to believe it divine saying it does not. It's not a question of whether it's all "true" or not. It's only a question of whether God wanted it written as it was written. If it suited his necessary purposes, and if those same purposes could not have been as effectively realized otherwise, and if indeed it is those purposes themselves which are holy, who in all the world is mere man to assert that it's not with God's realm of options to employ myth as a means to his noble ends? If you want to walk in awe of him so, perhaps untie his hands.

And just to be clear, the Flood narrative and subsequent repopulation of the Earth dates to just 6 or 7 hundred years pre-Joseph by the biblical timeline, which is therefore just over a millennium pre-Exodus and a millennium-and-a-half pre-Solomon. Yet even in Solomon's day, certainly you don't propose that the Earth was not populated, at all reaches, with the very same kind of racial/ethnic diversity we see today. Historical records show quite expressly that by 1000 BCE of course, yes, all the major groups as we know them were not only intact but, indeed, HAD been intact for some time. The yellowest of Far East Asians were as they are today. The blackest of black Africans and the whitest of white northern peoples were, too, as they are today. So, it's not just that your so-called inerrantism requires you to believe in a 6,000 year old Earth/Universe, but is also that it requires you to believe "some mechanism" caused a single gene pool (Japheth, Shem, and Ham) to take little more than a 1,000 years to split off into the production of extremely unalike strains of humankind and then, also based on some OTHER unexplained mechanism, suddenly STOP producing said variation. By your model, in a thousand years mankind became as diverse as it is today, and then for another three thousand years become largely no more diverse than that. Two mechanisms in play. What might those mechanisms be? You can't just dump it all onto the story of the Tower of Babel and wash your hands of it. Your beliefs require the two mechanisms. And yet there is no biblical accounting for either one of them. One of the most monumental of all things ever to befall mankind is his having developed into distinct strains (caucasoid, negroid, and mongoloid), not to mention an enormous amount of subvariation within those strains, and yet the word of God addresses that event/dynamic in not even trace fashion?
It is lovely, no, far more than lovely, that you've pursued so gainfully and with such rigor a calcification of the fact that there's actual historicity to the Exodus narrative. Too it is more than lovely that you are its evangelist. And to be honest, it probably took an archaeologist of the full-bore inerrantist mentality to have even uncovered what you've uncovered. But this does not mean you have to defy not only common sense but also evidence and higher reasoning itself in order to attempt to apply that same template to biblical narratives which are even more remote than the Abrahamic and, well, manifestly fantastical. If you can explain how mankind became as genetically diverse as it did in little more than ONE thousand years, and if you can explain how mankind then became little more genetically diverse than THAT for the next THREE thousand years, and if you can explain why a vast range of quite independent markers make it only SEEM like mankind and the Earth and the Universe have been around and in development for almost infinitely longer than mere millennia, then and only then are you in a position to look at what is patently mythical and rationally entertain it as possibly historic. Thank you for what you've accomplished. Don't spoil it by misleading people. Heck, don't even spoil it by misleading yourself.

No. Modern theory of evolution directly contradicts the Bible. And all that scientific evidence you are reffering to is not so solid as you think it is. Scientific data can be interpreted in different ways. Science is aften wrong and changes its opinions with new discoveries. When my mother was at school, they taught her that the Universe is endless and eternal. And that Neanderthals and the Piltdown man are evolutionary ancestors of homo sapiense (modern humans). Now they teach that the Universe had a beginning and has limits. And that Neanderthals are another homo sapiense species, who lived at the same time as modern humans and mixed with them. While the Piltdown man was a fraud.

@@galaxyrider9599 Whether the Universe is infinite in its expanse or not has been up for debate for years among astrophysicists, and in keeping with the creed that makes science what it calls itself to be, yes, more recently it leans toward an infinite-expanse model based not on opinion but rather on having gathered evidence it used not to have. Way, way of topic though. Read the room. Acknowledge context. The science "at issue" here is neither biology nor astrophysics, nor even the anthropology you allude to. If I say bubblegum tastes bad, you don't get to say I hate pink. Stay on topic. The science that pertains to my comment is geology. My using the word science doesn't grant you the leverage to go off in just any direction. But, to the point, we don't base our idea of an ancient Earth merely on theories of how the Universe came into being. We base it on measurable, quantifiable things. As importantly, if you cannot comfortably entertain the concept of a God/legitimately sacred holy texts while at the same time embracing what science more broadly is able to affirm or disaffirm, all you're really admitting to is the limitations of your own intellectual capacity. At least try to imagine a God who's comfortable with contradictions. Don't run from the puzzle. Solve the puzzle. Otherwise you're just making noise.

You are saying your comment was about geology, yet you were mentioning "genetic diversity" and "multiple independent scientific disciplines". Together with your offensive rant it doesn't sound like a serious conversation, but rather like "making noise". The puzzle is yours, not mine. Contradictions exist because "Errare humanum est". Great minds always understood that.

How do you take something you agree with and then object to it, well, other than by just the blind force of bias? And while you say the puzzle is not yours, here you are making contribution. Great talk my friend, You want some more wisdom? I can pass some along to you if you want a little more. If you recall where Jesus asked the Pharisee about King David concerning the Messiah and Jesus asked them "Who's son is he?" The Pharisee answer "he is David's son" meaning Davids descendant. Jesus then tells them "If he is David's(descendant) son, then why does David call him Lord?".
Now that being the case, then what words did the Messiah Jesus instruct David to write about himself before being born in the flesh years later? Now for greater wisdom go read Proverbs 8;22-36 where Jesus in his heavenly form instructs King David what to nwrite about himself and his beginning.
Oh I have more to show you, this wisdom I have comes from the true God of heaven and earth and their is no end to that knowledge and wisdom, and once your eyes are truly opened then all the answers fall easily into place.
Thanks Brother from your harshest critic.

First there was four people - Adam, Eve, Cain and Abel. Cain then kills Abel which leaves three people alive on the earth. Are we correct so far?
After God curses Cain for killing his brother, Cain wanders off to the land of Nod and meets, or has sex with his wife and builds a city. Still ok?
Now remember that God or Moses is the narrator of this story and God cannot make a mistake and Moses is His Prophet so Moses can't make a mistake either.
Now between the lines that say Cain kills Abel, and Cain wanders off to the land of Nod to meet his wife and have some sex, some pages must be missing - or God or Moses had a senior moment. In any case, I know why God/Moses named the city "Nod". Because that is what happens to some people that read this story.
What is truly challenging to the cognitive process is the excuses that Christian apologists offer to keep it sacred, such as "there are things to consider", or "its allegorical in nature",or "the people in that story lived for hundreds of years". However, the truth is much simpler. Genesis is an example of what happens when human primates living in the Bronze Age tried to make sense of a complex process for which they were not prepared. Their only option was to make up a story, and the best story was written as sacred scripture and passed on to children as truth.
Fortunately, in my case, Genesis is not truth

First there were two people, Adam and Eve. They had relations and she bore first Cain, then Able. Cain offered that which grew in the ground=self labor, Able offered of his flocks=other
labor/blood sacrifice. We are now correct so far? The Lord had regard for Able sacrifice, but not Cains, therefore... Gen.4:6 Then the Lord said to Cain."Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? :7 "If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it." Clear so far? :9 "Then the Lord said to Cain "Where is Able your brother?" And he said "I do not know, am I my brothers keeper?" (Lie!) :10 And He said, "what have you done? "The voice of your brothers blood is crying to Me from the ground."And now you are cursed from the ground..." After God curses Cain for killing his brother, Cain settles in the land of Nod, east of Eden, (you must have nodded off) had relations with his wife and she bore him Enoch. Are we clearer now? No pages missing, Moses lived to 120 (Deut. 24:7) Now remember, Moses narrates what God said - Who cannot make a mistake, and Moses ought not make a mistake, though he does when he kills an Egyptian slave driver and when he hits the cleft rock twice :11, instead of speaking to it :8 (Numbers 20). Not O.K., O.K. What is truly challenging to the cognitive process is the excuses that an apoplectic as your mind seems to be, holds nothing sacred and you don't consider what is allegory or natural. Those who lived to 900+ years were in an environment that was a misty cloud cover (Gen. 2:6) which shielded them from the suns frying light waves. Duhhhh! A primate that can't use common sense will think like a fool, "The fool has said in his heart, "There is no god" They are corrupt, they have committed abominable deeds." Psalm 14:1 How you make up a story with such feeble imaginings is truly sad, and in your case truth is not true... unfortunately. "In the beginning..." something or nothing created all that which exists, the latter is absurd therefore Who or what Is It that created? A damaged brain like mine can think more clearly than yours, ask The Lord to open up your 'eyes' that you may see - and He will!

As part of a skeptical family, you must have great skepticism for many evolutionary theories as well. You rest your faith in others' authority every day having not actually observed things with your own senses don't you? Have you actually been 620 miles up to witness a disc of the Earth or do you rely on pictures and images from others or from the twelve people that have been that far from earth? Have you been to Antartica? Have you seen it with your own eyes, or did someone tell you it exists?
I don't think you are a skeptic at all. You just believe in presuppositions like everyone else.
