Yes, always good to grease the metal on metal contact areas. I should have demonstrated that in this video.

@InsaneOil Yes! new brakes and rotors all around, oil change and valve cover gasket. 4 hours total. Not bad. The rear brakes did take me a little longer than expected due to that one bolt lol.

Why does the wear indicator pad have to go on the inside?
The inside brake pad will wear slightly faster.

Amazing Video. I have a question for you. My 2018 Elantra has 14k miles. When I slightly brake, it used to make a clunk (Metal to Metal contact) sound at the rear. The dealer said they "fixed" it. But now I hear rubber to rubber contact kinda sound from the rear. Any idea what could be going on? They also said there is 6mm of the pads left on the rear brakes and 11 mm on the front. Is this normal for 14k mile? Please advise. :)
Typically front brake pads will last between 40-60k miles and rear brake pads last 80-100k miles...depending on your driving style.
@@InsaneOil That is wonderful. During my service at the dealership, they did a complementary inspection and the report says that the rear brake pads are at 6mm and the front are at 11mm. ( I'm assuming both of them start off at 12 mm) . Is it possible for the rear brakes to wear so much in a short amount of time?
@@anirudhranganatha3827 Anything is possible. Ask them what percentage is left on the rear pads. It could be that Hyundai is putting a little thinner pads on the rear with their newer models. If they say there is 80% left, then you are good to go for a good long while. If they say there is 40% left, then I think there is excessive wear for some reason.

@@anirudhranganatha3827 I have an elantra and the dealer had brand new brakes on them and I kept hearing grinding. I ended up buying quality ceramic brakes and no noise
