I agree with you. The continued development of the squad hinges on adding players who not only fit a physical and technical profile, but a mental one as well and he ticks all those boxes. This feels kind of like how when we signed Rice. It’s just a slam dunk in all categories.

He will be our left sided Timber, yes he might line up at left back but he will be given the licence to roam, drive out from the back, progress the ball through the middle & pop up around the box. He is a midfielder that plays as a defender. He brings unpredictability on the ball & assurance off the ball.
A backline of White, Saliba, Gabriel and Calafiori… I pity the attackers who are going to try to score on those four and that’s not to mention Rice who’s shielding them in front. Arteta is building a physically imposing team similar to the Invincibles. The future is bright.

He will also help free Rice to venture forward and help produce overloads and get the ball into dangerous zones. His desire to run at opposing players can also carve out chances if opponents spread out to cover the flanks. Saliba and Gabriel has done some of these runs but IMO MA probably prefers to keep Saliba in defence and as cover in case RC fails. For games vs better teams, IMO Timber is preferred
