The move is absolutely perfect. A left footed LB/LCB who can defend brilliantly, dribble, pass and overlap which is exactly what we’re missing. I personally believe his comp is more of a Gvardiol
Interesting take on Maldini from George, good take on him but only relevant for Maldini in his latter half of his career. As a younger player he was phenomenal over long distance sprints and had a fantastic engine as a fullback. Of course he would then move more into the centre as he got older and lost some athleticism but as George mentions was the best at the usage of his body is spot on. I will never forget how a near retiring Maldini absolutely pocketed a young CR7 who had a massive speed advantage over him. He never got away from Maldini, he was too clever, so savvy, too experienced and used his body fantastically well to dominate CR7. Maldini is the best defender I've seen in the near 35 years watching football.
In a nutshell, from my own analysis; Calafiori is bringing the ability to play in midfield as a defender from (LB/LCB) adding to our ability to progress the ball against an aggressive press, adding quality in ball progression thru midfield allowing us to push forward more players from midfielders into the final 3rd while keeping us secure defensively against a counter attack, because of his pace and tackling ability. The fact he can occupy a lot of positions and be dynamic and securely comfortable with the ball, with very strong passing and chance creation qualities, means Rice can be deployed as the DM even though he’s still not that good progressing the ball vertically. That would mean we can buy in this window a world class LAM (no8) like Musiala to aide with the left sided duties similar to what Odegaard and Saka do on the right. Significantly, Timber can do the same on the right, what Calafiori does on the left; carrying the ball into and thru midfield with consummate accuracy and authority. This will be determined by the opponents style on the day. Last season Odegaard dropped in goals output because he came too deep to do what was supposed to be done by Rice; carrying the ball deep from the defenders and turning into a press, beating it and getting the ball out from the back thru midfield upfront into the final 3rd, too much work for one man but Odegaard did it game after game every time Rice played, because Rice is still pathetic at this key aspect, you saw the Euro group games so far, and the fact that all the points we dropped last season was when Rice played no6. So Calafiori and Timber ability to invert into midfield and progress the ball upfield with quality will mean Odegaard can predominantly spend more time in the final 3rd where his ability on the ball will definitely hurt opposition like he did the previous season scoring 15 non penalty goals, add that to the possibly new left sided offensive no8 profile like Musiala. Another key factor; a definite upgrade on Martinelli whose main weakness is failure to scan while on the ball! We lose a lot of quality when we play a low block because Martinelli is deadly running behind into spaces, less scanning needed as the decision is made once early. But a low block means tight control under pressure and Saka is king there because he plays with his eyes ⬆️ up all the time and is able to change decisions, direction, feints, and deliver a different pass or cross or take a shot as the permutations of opposition positional play allows. Not Martinelli! That’s why in the Brazil team they just bring him in later when the game is very open. That’s why Trossard eventually got more and more of the game time last season. It had nothing to do with Martinelli being poor, we faced more and more of games with a lot more deeper blocks; neutralizing his effectiveness for us. Trossard like Saka is comfortable in tight pressure situations because he is good with the ball and plays with his eyes up ⬆️ like Saka. So I definitely believe Nico Williams is a solid possibility for this reason; he’s faster than Trossard and then has everything Trossard has if not more; two footed, crosses/shoots both feet, devastating dribbling/takeons; plays with his eyes up ⬆️ like Saka and we need that on the left a lot! And he can cover Saka on the RW consummately. Kai Havertz is UNTOUCHABLE @9🔥🔥🔥📈 he keeps everyone ♻️ devastating and cannot be marked out of the game like Halaand (who registered Zero shots against us 3 games in a row!)and doesn’t get involved with the team build up play often or with any effectiveness. Trossard will play no9 backup, as the Nketiah upgrade inhouse and already polished and weaponised by Arteta technologies! Martinelli will have games that suit him when we play CL or big teams that are arrogant and think to go toe to toe with us opening large spaces behind for the weapons of Martinelli to click into devastation. Bring Calafiori, goal scoring offensive no8 and Nico Williams please. Either way, let’s trust Mikel Arteta. He’s proven everything and more! Kudos and COYG! I think this is a brilliant signing. There's a spot in that left back spot for whoever wants it, not to mention the cover of that LCB role as well. Calafiori will be a world class player in both of those positions. 50 million price tag is very reasonable too. It'll look cheap in 3 years time. Timber at RB - inverting into double pivot, right of a diamond or holding the width allowing Saka to play inside White - Saliba - Cali with White and Cali overlapping at times I think we need a left 8 unless Kai or even Saka plays there at times.

Im just gassed.Once this goes through. Im gonna smile massively.Been a while we went for a ''flavour of the the month'' player. But I only noticed him when we were looking at zirkzee & then just watched bologna based on Motta's style of play. I watch Cala ball out & I was like. He needs to be at the carpet.Wished it & here we are on his way. I think kiwior, Tierney will go. I think we keep zinny unless a great offer comes in. But I think we keep zinny has experience ,age, depth. The funny thing for me is. We are gonna get 1 more defender a right footed CB. Yes its the one we all want from sporting. But a CB is coming in. And our defense set is complete & full stacked.
You really need to try to get put more chavvie
Great Video Guys... Now Viktor Gyokeres
best defender since Maldini, this Arsenal defense has to be the best in history
What😂😂😂

@@kunimitsune177Shhhh Bell Boy
@@kunimitsune177*EPL
Arsenal are only conceding 20 goals next season.
And win nothing again
Are we getting our own Maldini?
No, we're getting the new Zinchenko....
We shld go for him buh personally I prefer sancho , sancho is a top talent en so gifted technically xo 40m wldnt be bad for a SANCHO
What does a Lb/Cb have to do with sancho?
Whos salibas backup?
White, Tomiyasu, Timber and even Rice
@@kunimitsune177Who told you that Bell Boy?
@kunimitsune177 Only saw White play as a CB and that was a disaster
Wagwan with Timber?
What's a "wagwan"?
Thanks
Is it far-fetched to think that Timber will be playing midfield more this coming season?
I don't think so. His press resistance is one of his best qualities and we need that in midfield. He isnt the best passer though. He does however make fantastic runs.
Damn this review makes me want to marry the guy 😅😅😅
samir nasri in podcast
Calafiori Gabriel Saliba Ben White
Now Martinelli to be uncloked
Hes an Arsenal player now
Soccer 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Aka Modric?
The new Cancelo.
Nothing like cancelo??? Please explain
You mean the new Zinchenko....
@@PaulClarke-dv5sr zinchenko in what way 😂😂
@@PaulClarke-dv5sr completely opposite profile of player to zinny
@@Gunner_144Really?
A £35m injury prone defender who'll win nothing at Arsenal
I beg to differ....
Watched RUclips videos and made out he knows Calafiori's game inside and out.
They watch back games and use Wyscout, which is used by serious football institutions
@@kieran5246 Thank you
Simply put; Calafiori is a stronger Zinchenko, and a better defender... If Calafiori played fir us last season instead of Zinchenko, we win the league, period...
What no.
He's an actual defender who's good at the other stuff too. Zinchenko is a midfielder who plays in defence and basically his entire skillset is passing.
Simply put, my 87 yo grandad is a better defender than Zinchenko
@@kunimitsune177 A midfielder who cannot tackle is not a midfielder...
We can never replace you Alex... We canoh.
I dont think 60 seconds is in the American vocabulary 😉❤️🤍
