As a retired U.S. Navy enlisted I have encountered serving British soldiers, sailors and airmen in places from Hong Kong to Iraq. These are professional military personnel who are first rate in all their duties. So proud for them, they deserve all the praise they are receiving.
They also deserve the funding to get back to Tier 1. The so called ‘Covenant’ between the British Government and the Armed Forces has been sadly neglected over the last few decades if not longer.
The incredible fact not mentioned was that the parade returning to Buck House from the Abbey was started by one command relayed across 4,000 people who all stepped out at the same time, on the same drumbeat and the bands even playing the same music all the way down the parade. The scale of that precision is just outstanding and certainly worth replaying the BBC broadcast.
It was stunning". Could listen over and over. Respect to the British, the only country to know how to do legacy, respect and longevity. Wish I were a Brit, but I am alas, an ugly American as even I see us start to be, sadly.

I loved every minute of the Coronation today but watching the incredible prescision of the Forces marching, playing their instruments and amassing in the garden of BP afterwards was my favourite part. And those amazing, beautiful horses!!! Congratulations to all involved 😊
Only British troops can travel on the London underground and still look impeccable, everyone involved in the coronation was amazing and the salute in the garden just blew me away! no one does it like the British armed forces.
It was wonderful, have watched on the BBC this morning. And again this afternoon on iplayer. Amazing. The music in the Abbey was extraordinary. And the military did everyone proud. Thanks to everyone concerned.

When it comes down to it the economic and security advantages of being part of the British Commonwealth not to mention the heritage of millions of citizens of Commonwealth nation simply can't be replaced. And just look at what being alone and isolated in this world can mean. If Ukraine was part of a larger union there is no way Russia would have invaded. And along with the US it was the UK and Commonwealth nations along with our traditional allies like Poland that were at the forefront of coming to the aid of Ukraine. Following the procession there were several sweeper trucks. Whilst the coronation occurred there were also teams from Westminster council cleaning up the roads further.
As someone who marched on that day i want to say well done to all those who spent days with no days off in preparation for this. WE SMASHED IT!
