I was able to use my Koolatron Power AC-16 adapter to supply 12v for the XGC connectors, charged it to 100% in 2 hours from out of the box. NoCo has the 56W XGC Power Adapter, but its $65. Got my Koolatron from ValuVillage. $10 13.6VDC 5A.

@@NoneMechanic101 Its also important what size of USB transformer your using and how many watts its capable of. 1, 2, 3 amp pushing 12, 18, 24, 40 watts etc. Then your USB cable has to be up to the task if your using a 3 amp USB transformer.
Id like to see a smart charger and how fast that one works, but I have a Koolatron with the cigarette lighter socket as well. Great for testing stuff in the house that plugs into lighters.
I have a 2 amp and a 5 amp smart charger, but the Koolatron is metal housing almost the size of a full size battery charger putting out 4.5 amps @12 volts that looks 80's built in Barrie Ontario. Hell of a lot better than leaving the vehicle running for a couple hours.
GB 70 arriving later today and just checking out charging methods. My guess is that it has QC 3.1 tech, so its self regulating to avoid over heating and overcharge.

Great informative video. Be careful with the hairy knuckles. They can catch fire while connecting booster GB70 to car battery. Waxing can rip the skin and cause permanent damage.

Good charging review, I need to get one of these but I am still playing around with jumper cables and heavy battery chargers..old school me LOL

I like the old school battery chargers. They're not bad.

😁I gotta say, I HATE old school jumper cables, especially in situations like heavy traffic, bad weather, 3AM-and-gotta-get-to-work . . .. I was hesitant at first but bought a NOCO GB70 five years ago - one of the absolute best pieces of emergency gear. Highly recommend it to anyone, especially if running solo, in remote areas, camping or hiking (definitely not backpacking, though!!). It also has a nice bright, low-power LED light, is capable of charging any smartphone, laptop, tablet, ereader. I've done 'em all! I'm buying one for my sister who seems to struggle with car battery maintenance . . . once she learns to use it, she'll be happier than . . . well I dunno. She won't regret having it!

I charged mine to 100%, and it was down to 75% after 5 months sitting. Still a lot of power however.

That was impressive on how long it took to charge. My big battery for the camera takes all day to charge and I burnt up my phone charger on it, so I had to buy a stronger usb charger for my battery.

This company now sell a device that can charge the jump starter from your home in 3 hours.

Both of my NOCOs take half a day to charge. It's frustrating when needing to make a couple of jump attempts. They are the 4000A and 4250A (the latter is piece of crap and loses charge in a single jump attempt).

So if you need to jump your car how are you going to charge it in 15 minutes in the car that is dead?

    • @NoneMechanic101
      @NoneMechanic101  4 года назад +3

That is great question. I didn't think of that.

You might have enough to charge it for 15 minutes but not enough amps to start the car

🤣😂 First thing I said to myself when I heard that!! I guess you'd have to use another vehicle, ask a friend with a vehicle . . . But, if your car battery is dead & you just now bought this NOCO, just charge it in the house or hotel or wherever using your phone charger. If your stuck in a Walmart parking lot, they'd probably let you charge it . . . MAYBE.

As long as your not stranded in the bush etc. Plus the person jumping your car runs the risk of blowing up their computer. The Noco does not care if you get the poles wrong and will never blow anything even if hooked up incorrectly. ECM's are pricey. You can also fry your wiring harness with is pretty much the end of life for the vehicle along with many insurance companies refuse to cover electrical fires anymore.

It was at 50% charge when you took it out of the box ? If so, you are still required to charge it for a full 14 hours (initial charge), and 7 hours minimum after that.
