    Please tell your daughter that she did a great job with this video. She’s very well-spoken and this video was a pleasure to watch.

    I loved when Raeca said "this is such a good book. What do you even say about good books?" For some reason it totally made me think of Anne and something she would say! ❤

    SOOO many similar books to my daughter (13 in November), who also loved her book Lone Wolf! She might enjoy Fountains of Silence. I read it on the airplane and my daughter pretty much read it alongside me...then stole it and finished it and loved it! We're getting other Ruta Sepetys books. Another recommendation from my daughter would be Thorn, Tress of Emerald Sea (we think she probably read that one), and The Ascendance Series (HIGHLY recommended). Fun to see your kids pop in with book recommendations!

      I haven't introduced my daughter to Ruta Sepetys yet, I feel like once I start she'll want to read all the books and a few of them I'm not ready for her to read content wise, but it's on my list for in a year or two! Raeca hasn't read Tress, though Jared and I have both told her we think she would enjoy it, she hasn't been much into fantasy lately and I really want her to love that one. Thorn, gotta look that one up, I don't think I've heard of it. And yes to the Ascendance series, she read them and has really enjoyed them, they were a favorite about a year ago. Thanks so much for all the suggestions, Leanne!

    Thanks for all the great book recommendation! My daughter just turned 13 last month! Has your daughter seen the movie The Outsiders yet? I remember reading The Outsiders book and then watching the movie and thinking how absolutely spot on the cast was! Also have you made a video yet about how you published your daughter's book? Would love to see that - my daughter also would love to be an author - good for your daughter for writing a book - so very exciting!

    I added so many of these to my tbr! I had completely forgot about the Wednesday Wars, and when you mentioned the main character’s name, I realized I had listened to it on audiobook back when I was still being homeschooled 😊Thanks for sharing Raeca!

    This is a great list, thanks for sharing!
    I do not read much for contemporary but one I read during middle grade March that I rated 5 stars this year was ‘Caterpillar Summer’ by Gillian Mcdunn.
    A hard hitting historical that takes place in the ‘40s is the ‘finding Langston’ trilogy by Lesa Cline-Ransome. Reminds me a little of those Gary D Schmidt books in that each book follows different characters (including the bully) and each one has a different passion they are pursuing.

    Oh I have so mannny recs that might be up her alley!!! She's reading exactly what i used to read at that age! Love, Ruby Lavender, Each Little Bird That Sings, Aurora County Allstars, are all books in the same series by Deborah Wiles (excellent heart wrenching contemporary), Where I'd Like to Be by Frances O'Roark Dowell, Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo, Faith, Hope and Ivy June by Phyllis Reynolds, Oh I'm so excited for her to discover these!! (Also did not know Wednesday Wars had a 3rd book come out, I read the first two way back when in middle school and high school, even though you've said it's not good I'm going to give it a chance lol)

      Thanks for all these suggestions for her! I've never heard of most of them so I'm off to look them up and request them from the library.
      In regards to the Wednesday Wars/Okay for Now companion novel, I totally get it. I want you to let me know what you think after you read it though!

    I thought she would have Keeper of the Lost Cities on there I remember her loving those? Has she read Wolf Hollow and it's sequel My Own Lighting?

    • @IntentionalHomeschooling
      @IntentionalHomeschooling  Год назад +1

      She still enjoys Keeper of the Lost Cities but it doesn't quite make the favorites cut. Maybe when the next book comes out the series will get bumped back up. We'll see.
      We started Wolf Hollow on audio as a family and really could not get into it . . .

    I would read the book stonefox. It's a really short book, but it's so good. It's a really big cliff hanger at the end. I read it in one night. It was so good you need to read it.
    's a classic.

    I just came across your video as I’m looking for recommendations for my daughter in the YA genre. You should read a book called Puberty Blues by Kathy Lette and Gabrielle Carey. If you like Hard Hitting, this will satiate.
