Wow. Just wow. Mila has grown SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!! She gets cuter by the day. That is so cool she wants to help mommy in the garden. I suspect this could be a major lifelong bonding experience for the two of you, mother - daughter gardening dates. Way to go!!!! Maybe you could also start showing her how to do ASMR as well??? Cute moment at the end there when you said "we're going to go.. (on with our lives)" and Mila heard the first part, and dropped her bike to ask you "Mama, where are you going?" My niece is like that too, always listening and always excited to go, it doesn't matter where lol.
Hey, Maria! About that spot you don’t know what to do with…. Take those 2 trees and use them to hang a hammock. Make it the nice little shaded reading nook of your garden :) my sister has a space like that and even built a little handmade stone path leading to it.

Wow, Mila is truly growing up. So gorgeous like her Momma. Gardening in California is a lot harder as the soil tends to get dry and very compact, which makes it harder to dig. I prefer instead to use pots for growing flowers or plants and just to keep the lawn simple, its a lot easier to manage that way, I find.
In the beautiful documentary Little Big Farm they show how to make hard dry soil into soft nutritious soil where you can grow anything and create safe havens for microbes and wildlife 💕💚
An AMAZING thing to put down in the side yard would be a blend of clovers! It’s so wonderful for pollinators, very soft and lush, super low maintenance, hardy, great for the soil, and one of the most environmentally friendly things you could do! I highly recommend looking into clover lawns!
my mom has the same amount of space on the side of their house and wasn't sure what to do with it. She ended up making it a gnome garden, with tiny figurines and houses. She used different tiny stones to create mini landscapes. Then she ended up adding a little table and chairs for the grandkids to hangout in. It was a cute way to use that space, and it has such a whimsical feel to it.

Marsha try a “lazy gardening tip” on the weeds. Pile your lawn clippings at least 12inches on top along the fence and they will smother the weeds and mulch the area. You can pour your hot water after a boiled jug (for tea) on your problem weeds as well. That way less pulling, especially for the tiny ones. The other ideas of laying pavers is a great idea. I know you may never see this, but I'm so glad to see you're still here on RUclips Maria! I began watching you in late 2011 when I had just turned 11 years old. I remember exactly how it happened too... As a kid, I had pretty bad anxiety from an early age, so much to the point where it would prevent me from falling asleep at night. Watching your videos would always calm me down when I was panicking... they'd put me right to sleep haha! I feel like I've quite literally grown up with you, as I've watched you as a kid, a preteen, a teenager, and now a 21 year old approaching his final year in college. I know you have no idea who I am, but if you are to know anything, I want you to know you've made such a positive impact on my life. I'm so happy to see how you've grown and become so wise. You always try to see the positive outlook on life, and that's truly inspiring. I wish the best to you, Daryl, and Mila, and I can't wait to see what's to come.
Wow, it is so awesome that Mila is bilingual. So fun to hear her speak both English & Russian. Go Maria, go! Also she is absolutely adorable. You are a great mom.
Ideas for the backyard: a playground for Mila; build a space with chairs or a bench and a fireplace (to make smores and stuff); you could plant some plants that have very minimum water consumption (idk what it could be, I don't know the first thing about gardening). And yeah, that's what I could come up with 😅
For the little side yard my immediate thought was to clear it out and put down some outdoor flooring, set up a comfy bench/ couch and some chairs (maybe with some potted plants?), and add a gas fireplace between the trees. String up some fairy lights, it would be a super cute and cozy little hang out spot 🥺
The bit down the side - I always struggled with shady areas until I had kids - shade is brilliant! Playhouse, trampoline, table and chairs and sandpit in the shade for mila. You can pick up stuff like that second hand and free from local groups 🙂
I'm in a mixed zone of 2 and 3 - it's currently minus 12 out and snowing, so watching you, your daughter and your sunny green yard is very dreamy. Blessings to you and your family.

Mila looks so much like you 😍 Time passes so fast, it seems like a little while ago you were pregnant with her and knitting her a blanket. Bless her, she’s a cutie 🥰
Mila has such a fun personality! She must keep you guys laughing all the time! Gardening is a lot of trial and error... But it is so satisfying when you grow something beautiful yourself. Also, the weeding UGHHH, every year I try to figure out a way to not have to spend so much time weeding... It is quite the task.
Mila is so adorable! She is growing right before our eyes!😃Gardening takes a lot of hard work but with your care and your little helper, I think your garden will turn out lovely! As far as that space goes on the side of your house. I was thinking maybe keep the trees but build a patio or paved walkway, put in a fountain, light up the walkway with little lights for night time, plant some pretty shrubs or bushes, some baby tears, cute little flowers, some mint and lavender, put some knome statues. A little greenhouse or a small table with an umbrella and some outdoor chairs, like a French café style look. The possibilities are endless. Or create a Glass Sunroom!😊
The side yard has so much potential! Instead of cloth, you could stifle the weeds with cardboard with mulch on top. You could also meadowscape with native wildflowers that shouldn't need much/any water as they're evolved to California's dryness and would provide lush habitat/food for insects and birds. You can also look up xeriscaping (landscaping with reduced water) for ideas on what kind of plants would thrive with little water and maintenance. A rock garden with sedum/succulents would be one pretty option requiring little work long-term.
Great idea. I live in California and I JUST found out about the Theodore Payne foundation. They have an amazing, affordable selection of CA wildflower seeds and are devoted to conserving and promoting CA blooms! The channel Garden Answer did a great video this January where viewers sent in all their “skinny side yards” as inspiration and she shows a bunch of good ones with ideas.
I’ve always seen your face in Mila; now I’m starting to notice Daryl’s features in her. She’s growing so beautifully. Thank you for continuing to share your life with us.
Как же прекрасно, что вы разговариваете на своем родном языке с дочерью! У нас в Дании даже поощряется это, так как тут считается, что только на родном языке мы можем выразить словами всю полноту нашей любви и заботы к детям😍
for the side patch of the house: a fairy garden...a flat stone meandering path front to back then filled in with pebble/stone in the other area's then a few lovely larger planters at the fence.. some wee solar string lights... Mila sized table and chairs for tea parties in the fairy garden :)
Great idea, it looks nice and shady, the path could weAve through the two trees to a small play house at the end. Ferns and shade loving plants flanking the path with fairy lights 👍
Glad someone understands the weed struggles, we are new to having a yard this year and honestly trying to just figure out how to plant some grass and keep the weeds away. We’re in Florida so if you leave a yard it becomes a jungle really quickly 😆
Omgosh, same here during the rain season, the weeds cover all of our plants. It's a full time job just pulling them out! Lol gardening = weed pulling 95% of the time 😆
Omg, I can't believe Mila is so big already 😭 Feels like just yesterday you were announcing your pregnancy! So happy for your little family and hope you are THRIVING
i wish you would do another antique store walk through!!!! the other one you have on this chanel is one of my favorite videos you’ve ever posted!!! so unintentionally tingly 🥰
Our dear Masha, Thank you so much for this video with you and Mila. It's so happy and uplifting to see how much she's grown and that you are keeping up with her Russian. She is definitely your mini me! You are doing an amazing job in your back garden. For your side yard that is almost always shaded, I would recommend the sturdiest heavy duty lining, and either mulch or any type of stones. It is a great place for a shed. I would love to see more future videos with you, Mila and Darryl doing anything ♥️💖💙
You and Mila together are just so adorable! 😊 it's cute listening to her little responses to what you're doing and saying. And she is not camera shy haha!
Maria, I love this! I love the rawness of it. So much fun! We just bought our first house and the yard is going to be quite the project, so I’m looking forward to seeing more of the videos! I just showed my husband the weed puller and we’ll be getting one, too!
I’d put the shed toward the back and do some shade happy plants and a little stepping stone path. Hostas do very well in shade if you want some greenery there. There are some shade happy flowers too, but take care to read which ones are toxic if Mila likes to pick flowers. In my experience, the fabric with mulch on top works for a while, but we still get some weeds that pop through. Depending on what type of grass you have, some grasses can be invasive and encroach into the mulch. The fabric and mulch are definitely a deterrent for weeds. You could go maintenance free and do turf on the side yard. That would save water also. You could also do a flower planting station or work bench or a side yard seating area for shaded reading or tea time with Mila. Your bush may come back with fertilizing and watering. If it was transplanted recently, you should definitely water it very regularly for 3-4 weeks. Transplanted plants (especially larger, established plants) usually go into shock and need a lot of extra care to bring them back. Keep the soil moist, not wet, for 3-4 weeks after transplanting. If it’s super hot and gets a lot of sun, then try to provide it with a little shade during the day if you can.
So nice to see Mila again, she has grown so much, this precious little lady! Gardening and nature are some of my great loves too, it's so satisfying. The weather in The Netherlands is completely different from where you live though. I want to wish you all the strength in this difficult time with and for your family in Russia. I hope they are safe... 💜🤗(= Love & Hugs) for 👧🏻(Mila) &👱🏻♀(You).
So so sweet, nothing as cute as a mom and daughter haha. Reminds me of hanging out with my mom as a kid, now im 23 and still remember those times fondly.
I think the “eggs” on the mandarin tree is actually a common pest called scale. You can scrape them off and use any typical insecticide that mentions use for scale. I’m glad you have gardening content! Love it all.
Oh my goodness you two are so cute. I love this video. I like your idea of a shed in the space between the house and fence. I never realized how much I would love a shed until I got one it's just a 3 sided shed, wide open in the front. It's lovely.
First of all little Mila is beautiful and sweet. Babies grow so fast. Second I don't know what others may think of this idea but I have used cardboard and then put mulch on top. It was underneath my deck so I'm not growing anything. I have no problems...so far. LOL
Mila is so cute! 💖 We have a similar side of the house patch and ended up putting down weed cloth and put decorative gravel over it! You could put down some walking stones and along the fencing maybe put some chalkboard and buckets of chalk to turn it into a little art area for Mila! Loving the gardening content ❤️
Hi Maria, I have a daughter (already 15!) and in her young years she loved to go on the swing. Bonus on your side yard spot: even on hot days swinging in the shade. A little gardentoolshed might fit for al the outside toys😊
My son just turned 1 and I've neglected our yard the last year and a half. Now that he's older, I want to make it lovely and a nice space for him, but it's so overwhelming. I have weeds as tall as me! I like the gardening content and it's fun to see your daughter doing outside with you - gives me motivation and makes me look forward to outside time with my son.
That shady spot, go for hostas!! They do so well in the shade and they are a super forgiving plant! I absolutely love these videos! Seeing you gardening with mila reminds me of gardening with my mom when I was a little girl 💗🌷
Oh wow, Mila has grown so much..so lovely to see her. And so sweet she wants to help mommy. I love these kind of video's ..it reminds me of the times my children were little.. ❤
Your yard is a dream 😍. I know there is a lot of work you want to do to it, but I just love it! Serene and private. Just beautiful! Also for that side yard, shade fairy garden for Mila! You can plant foxglove, bleeding heart, and hosta. Put little fairy houses (kind of like Annemarie Garden). Also Cardboard works fantastic for weeds. It supresses them and also increases the quality of the soil as they break down. Cardboard covered in compost or soil. Good luck in your gardening! Side note, some of those plants are toxic if ingested so maybe not those exactly. I just named some fairy looking flowers I personally love.
Milas sneeze is amazing! 🥰 that side yard: cardboard and mulch. That’s be a great place to try that. I absolutely love listening to you talk with your daughter. I don’t understand a word of it and it doesn’t matter. Love is love. Wonderful video. Thank you so much for sharing that weed tool! Omg! THATS AWESOME! Pulling weeds wearing earrings and a lovely sweater. Worth every penny that tool! 🤩 ooh it’s so good to see you happy at the end. Enjoy that tool! Imma get one. Did you say where you got it?
I am not a gardener, but I do have several friends who live in the Midwest to West Coast area in very dry areas who have used sheet moss for ground cover as it is basically little to no maintenance. You could always use that area as multipurpose areas such as a zen garden, a small dedicated play space or something like an outdoor game area. Beautiful work so far, keep it up and thanks for sharing with us!!
For the shaded area maybe pave that area or make a sand box for your lil girl to play in. Or you can buy a stamp that makes faux stone walk ways. You can get at Lowes. And use quick Crete cement 🙂
Have you heard about clover lawns as opposed to grass for ground cover? I don’t know toooo much about it, but I’ve heard it’s very environmentally friendly and pretty much takes care of itself! Just a thought if you’ve never seen it before! Love the gardening content! ☺️❤️
The brown/orange spots on your mandarin tree might actually be scale. If so you'd need to manually remove them as they have super hard exterior. But maybe there are other ways to tackle them in the yard, I'm only familiar with them on houseplants 🌱
Мария,добрый час! Прекрасное видео.Можете посадить в тот уголок кусты малины,они прекрасно растут в таких местах где влажновато и им не сильно необходим прямой солнечный свет:)
Hi Maria! Mila has gotten so big! 😍 Reminds me so much of my son. For your red tipped photinia, you said when it was moved most of the roots were cut, so I would recommend cutting back (maybe about by half to start) a lot of the branches (check on when it’s safe to do that in your area - although this plant is typically super easy and hardy). It sounds like it might be in some sort of shock but also the shorter roots may also not be able to support the longer branches. Regarding your weeds, instead of weed fabric, use cardboard (it’s amazing) and then cover that with mulch. Works like a charm and helps to enrich the soil at the same time. Takes about 6-7 months or so to fully break down. 😊 We save all our Amazon and Chewy boxes for this. Happy gardening!! 🌱
I freaking love this!!! I felt like I was on FaceTime with you girl!!🥰😂❤️ Mila so cute!! You can tell you guys are close!❤️but then ending pulling the roots and everything was satisfying 😍😂 hope your garden will come out amazing and it becomes therapeutic for you(the process)❤️ sending lots of love to all of you guys!! Take care🥰
Omg those dandelion pulls are sooo satisfying, I would watch a whole ASMR video of just you weeding your garden hahaha!!! Good luck with all your future gardening adventures ❤️
Weed pulling, wind chimes, leaf sweeping, water pouring.. that would make a pleasant video. I always found the sound of dry leaves being swept very exhilarating before I ever learned about ASMR 🙄
Hello Masha and Mila, it's so good to see you :) If you're still looking for suggestion about what to do with that shaded portion of your garden, I though maybe. a little zen garden, with stones, rocks, wood and sand, could be cool. It's meditative, relaxing, doesn't require water or extra gardening efforts. Otherwise it could be like a magic play-garden for Mila, maybe a fairy aisle, with curtains, a hammock or a swing, some sparkling decorations and a toy shed or something like that. Lots of love ***
It's so nice to see that you tried to speak about languages and she speaks and understands both (as much as she can right now ) it's jusy so sweet seeing you be you and then you get pregnant and now your little girl being so big it's all going so fast it feels ! ❤❤

Thank you for continuing to share your life with us.
for the side patch of the house: a fairy garden...a flat stone meandering path front to back then filled in with pebble/stone in the other area's then a few lovely larger planters at the fence.. some wee solar string lights... Mila sized table and chairs for tea parties in the fairy garden :)
Great idea, it looks nice and shady, the path could weAve through the two trees to a small play house at the end. Ferns and shade loving plants flanking the path with fairy lights 👍
@@hitchjack a lovely addition of the playhouse :)
Такое красивое видео, природа, вы с дочкой такие светленькие, милые, улыбающиеся… 🌿🙂 Штука для сорняков крутая)) у меня просто садовая лопатка)
Such a cutie! Try apple cider vinegar for a organic spray for plants 🌱
Mila is becoming SUCH a big girl!! And she looks more and more like you! I loved her laugh when she sneezes!!
Oh my goodness that weed pulling tool was so satisfying to watch and listen to! I’ve always loved the feel of pulling weeds.
Lol gardening = weed pulling 95% of the time 😆
@@SassyMashaVlogs Yes! It rains here every day from June-September 🙃 we’ll be out mowing the lawn and pulling weeds every week it feels like
Your daughter is beautiful and has grown so much, thank you for sharing parts of your life with us! Love your channel and have for years’ now.
I love when you use this bubbly background music. It makes me so happy and peaceful. It’s like your theme song! 💛
Как приятно на вас смотреть 🙏🏻🌈🌈🌈 желаю удачи в ваших добрых красивых делах! Мария, большое спасибо за Ваше уютное и чудесное творчество 🙏🏻
Мила так выросла, обе такие красавицы! Здоровья и счастья.
If it’s super hot and gets a lot of sun, then try to provide it with a little shade during the day if you can.
omg Mila the icon 😩🌈
That spot is great for a shed and potting workbench. Milas little personality is so cute. Oh snap! I need that root tool.
What a lovely, calming, life-affirming video! Mika is just a lovely child!! Thank you so much!!
I want to cry. So proud of you Maria. How beautiful
Awww Mile is getting so big! She’s beautiful like her mommy. ♥️
Mila looks exactly like you! Aww, it's wonderful to see you so happy. ❤ God bless you all. 😘
Your yard is beautiful! And I too love chimes.
Edit: maybe for the side yard, like a stone path, seating, mulch, and fountain? Shed is a great idea!
I'm so happy you're sharing your garden with us!!
I just named some fairy looking flowers I personally love.
a gardening asmr video would be so cool, I love the sound of the weed puller going into the ground and then pulling out the roots
Mila grew up so lovely🥰 Sending love from South Korea 💕
Just bought the weeder! Thank you for linking it! My husband will love it!!
My sister named her daughter Mila because she watched you all the time while she was pregnant. She loved the name
Thanks so much for sharing Mila. So good to see her.
it is very nice to hear Russian from your daughter.❤❤❤👍
Какая Мила большая стала, смотрю вас, с момента её рождения
Dear Masha, thank you for a new vid! You've got a marvelous garden 🏡 Warmest greetings from Moscow 🤗
Omg! I remember watching your day in the life with a newborn video like it was yesterday! Crazy how quick babies grow!
The tool is from Amazon. Link in the video description
@@radbu1075 🥰🥰🥰 thank you
Thank you Maria for sharing a bit of your life with Mila! She is awesome!
Love seeing you work outside and hope you do more of these❣️
I am not a gardener, but I do have several friends who live in the Midwest to West Coast area in very dry areas who have used sheet moss for ground cover as it is basically little to no maintenance.
The sound of those roots of the dandelions is awesome
The brown/orange spots on your mandarin tree might actually be scale. If so you'd need to manually remove them as they have super hard exterior. But maybe there are other ways to tackle them in the yard, I'm only familiar with them on houseplants 🌱
Omg Maria! She’s so precious and adorable.
Мария,добрый час! Прекрасное видео.Можете посадить в тот уголок кусты малины,они прекрасно растут в таких местах где влажновато и им не сильно необходим прямой солнечный свет:)
Awwww what a beautiful little girl. She is so grown up 🥰
I love the hat, it's very chic! ☀️
Retinol users need double sun protection ☀️so I wear my big hat xD
I enjoy all your videos so much. Thanks for all your effort! Your daughter is adorable. I am sure you're very proud!
Take care🥰
She has gotten so big! Enjoy, they’re little for such a short time❤️
I haven’t seen mila since she was a baby aww, hope you’re well Maria have a great day 💗💗
mila look so much like u! she’s gotten so big. i remember when u first introduced her to ur channel and she’s just SWOOP so fast. makes me teary
I'm here for big hat Maria
Your daughter is so beautiful. I remember seeing when she was just born. Lovely family!
Omg those dandelion pulls are sooo satisfying, I would watch a whole ASMR video of just you weeding your garden hahaha!!! Good luck with all your future gardening adventures ❤️
That would be awesome!
How did she grow so fast 🥲❤️🙌🏼🧿
It's so nice to see that you tried to speak about languages and she speaks and understands both (as much as she can right now ) it's jusy so sweet seeing you be you and then you get pregnant and now your little girl being so big it's all going so fast it feels ! ❤❤
My goodness Mila is such a big girl! I love listening to her speak to you in English and in Russian, it's so cool! She's gorgeous and so are you, inside and out. Can't wait for more of these videos.
This video brought me so much joy and peace😌
