Maria, I have grown to love your Sassy Masha channel even more than Gentle Whispering; sadly, after so many years of watching ASMR I don’t even experience it any more. These videos are just as relaxing, very informative, and so much fun to watch. The occasional guest appearance of Mila is always a plus! Have u tried giving yourself a break from watching ASMR vids for a few weeks? That worked for me when I stopped getting tye tingles from watching them so much for so long
I feel this way as well! I'm not into ASMR videos anymore. I get the good tingles just listening to Maria speak & talk about things. Her personality is divine & her voice makes me relax sooo much! Would love to see more content put on this channel more often because I just absolutely love this channel❤️
The mini auger is such a great idea! I have thick clay soil and planting just 15 bulbs took me hours! Also, highly recommended planting a little oak. You never know how long you will be in a place and you will get to enjoy mini color pops in the fall as they grow. 😊🍂🍁

Glad you are planting natives. It always seems like so much work, but time flies by, and then in a few years you'll have beautiful views out your windows.
Hi Maria I've been a huge fan of yours for many years - you are a true pioneer in your profession, and I have so much respect for you. I specialize in California native landscape design and installation in the San Diego area. I thought I would make a couple comments. As you noted correctly, Bee's bliss is extremely fast growing - we can usually count on it to reach at least 6 feet across in a single season. It will also tip root as it creeps along. Groundcover manzanita is also a great choice for such a rocky slope, as it is very shallow rooted (Dr. Hurd is a large upright tree form). BTW Dr. Hurd is one of our fastest growing manzanita, often 3' per year. I only recommend the least fertile amendment (if at all), as these plants do much better long term without high levels of nutrients. I know in such rocky soil it is hard to find enough dirt to backfill; plain clean soil is great! Finally, Coast live oak can grow shockingly fast, and native succulents like Dudleya (planted on their sides) would love that rockiness. Best of luck! - Greg
Wow, thank you, Greg, for the advice and information! I'm so excited to see my Dr Hurd grow! For some reason some trees grow slower then normal in my yard so it will be a welcome change. I'm excited to start planting mostly Cali native plants in this area of my yard. I love Live coast oak but it has prickly leaves and we love our barefoot summers in the yard 😁 I was thinking Blue Oak or something that will be on a smaller side for the future, I know oaks get giant here. Would you recommend just planting acorns or an actual small tree for the Blue Oak? Thank you again!
@@SassyMashaVlogs you might try both - planting a container and a couple acorns - it's possible for seedlings to surpass the size of a container within a year. The only drawback to Quercus douglasii is that they are one of the slowest growing of all oaks (they actually make good bonsai trees😉), but I get the issue with the serrated leaves on the coast live oaks. I'm also curious what got your maple - did it happen to have an ant infestation?
Hmmm.. there are ants running up but I can't see how far up, although ants are infesting my whole back yard, every tree has ants running up on them. Urgh. I'm starting to think it's sun damage or lack of water? We removed a lawn this year and I bet that maple was using it as water source more then the drip irrigation it has. I'd love a professional opinion on my trees but in El Dorado County there is no arborist to evaluate them besides the tree removal companies who literally just give me a take down quote vs actual advice 👎. Thank you for your time again!!! I truly appreciate your advice!
@@SassyMashaVlogs so I just want to mention that the extent to which ants contribute to the mortality of landscape plants (especially natives) is a relatively new subject that still needs research. However, what I can say is that they nest in the root ball of target plants, excavating soil to create chambers where they then adhere sucking insects to the upper root system, unseen and protected. Not only do the scale and aphids appropriate moisture and sugar directly from the sap (ants farm their excretory product, which is almost pure sugar and amino acids), but in that process might inoculate pathogens from sick plants to healthy plants (the ants move their "cattle" to new plants as they kill previous ones). Most horticultural people are aware of the symbiotic relationship between ants and sucking insects, but what is little appreciated is that by the time you see them in the branches, they have long infested the roots! They also plant weeds like crazy (they eat the attachment points of the seed, not the seed themselves) and when dropped near nests or trails, it gives them another place to seamlessly jump to once they've killed the main plants. It's possible they plant most of the weeds in our gardens, and I could see the tell-tale signs on your slope😉. Unfortunately, to be honest, most arborists aren't familiar with these aspects so end up recommending removal; however, there are treatments that can often save infected plants, if caught soon enough. Anyway, you can look me up as I was the 2018 Horticulturist of the Year for San Diego if you are interested in some more specific advice by email. You have been so helpful to me personally and I don't mind returning the favor! Thanks - Greg

You are so cool Maria. I love all the plants you chose. And I love the window action on your house. It's so beautiful. Thank you for sharing and inspiring me. 💜
Wow! That Bee’s Bliss sounds like a super plant. Such great planning and effort you have put into this. The tree the Native Americans used looks like it will be amazing selection as well. Love all of what you have chosen here really. Master at all you set your mind to Maria. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video to share w us while you haven’t been feeling as great. More more more! I’m currently in an outdoor makeover stage right now. I have really enjoyed gardening and watching videos such as these! And your daughter is absolutely adorable!
My neighbor has that second sage plant in her front yard and I’m obsessed with it! It grows SO well, super huge, super fast, and attracts so many hummingbirds. We’re close-ish in Lincoln so I’d say that’s an excellent choice you’ve made to plant. Our neighborhood also has the first sage at the gates and it grows amazingly well also and smells incredible. Love seeing your garden come together!

I’ve been enjoying these garden progress videos! 🌿 I live in an apartment so I don’t have a garden/yard, but I have a collection of potted plants on the balcony which is like my mini garden 😄🪴
We lived in Lake Tahoe Area for years before we returned to Wisconsin and built a new house. When we moved again we left behind many plants and trees in the yard and I will be 127 years old when the trees are mature. Our girls developed language skills faster than the boys. Mila can really holler now, just like our girls. They used hollering a lot and it was their Super Power to use their "Outdoor Voices" Indoors. Personally I am not a screamer but they and their mother utilize screaming frequently.
Hi Maria, is there any chance you could please reupload your old ASMR day crafting video? It was my absolute favourite for the longest time! So cool to see your garden and your plans for adding California natives. As a fellow Central Valley resident, I’m very excited for your sage plants and all the native bees that will visit them! One maybe faster growing native tree you could plant in place of the Maple is the California Redbud: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cercis_occidentalis Thanks for the awesome garden updates!
Thank you so much for the tree suggestion! I was thinking of planting a redbud but can only find Oklahoma redbud small trees in my area, might have to look around more! Thank you for the reminder 😁
Beautiful motivation for me to get out there and plant some bulbs! Lupine could be good on that rocky hillside! Manzanita are beautiful and make such fun "witches brooms" :)
Maria I love your gardening videos!!! I don't know where you are in Ca but if you happen to be in the Bay Area there are some really amazing plant places! There is a really neat native plant place that I go to in Oakland called Oaktown Native Plant Nursery if you ever find yourself in that area. They have a pretty good variety and their prices are very fair. There is also a really awesome place called Planting Justice (also in Oakland), which has an insane variety of plants. You can also order online, though it can be expensive if you order a lot like me lol. Hope you end up checking them out :)

The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit. - Nelson Henderson
How beautiful is that! Never heard that saying before. ♥️
That is a beautiful sentiment....so an Oak tree would be a good idea but not in place of those Japanese maples. No please no. lol

A good tip is to put water in your hole with the plant before you cover it back in with your soil
Is this an older video? I saw not long on ago on your Spotify the announcement.
Mane plant some succulents on the rocky, dry slope? They would probably thrive there.
Hi Sassy, are the bulbs and plants 100% organic? If not, they are cultivated with poison and bees will die if they take food from the blossoms.
