Yes I was just going to say this! I'm burned on my legs so I live off disability I do this as a side hustle(we all know how big a disability check is--not even a livable wage) so I just say I'm taking donations..95% of the time I'll get $20/ house a few people give $10 but I can work 2 hours and make a average of $120/day which would take me all day at a regular job making $14 bucks a hour! It's perfect for me because I can't work 8 hours but don't make enough from disability to cover all my bills plus I have 2 daughters.. I've had lots of people give $40-$50 bucks that just happened yesterday made $130 in 1 hour I made $248 on Saturdays if I go out for 2.5 hours.. AWESOME side hustle for real!

Thank you for making this video. I’m a father looking to make more money during these trying times. After doing DoorDash for months I can tell you I often have a hard time finding the right homes because of the address! Going to give this a shot 🙏🏻
Yes! I DoorDash full time and it’s amazing and I’d hate to quit because I’m making really good right now but anyways I was driving and I had this issue….. so I created a business plan around it and wrote everything down what to buy what to expect. Then decided to get on here to see if anyone else is doing this!!!! I love my job but I’d like to switch it up from time to time
My son to sit at home all day, so I want to do this with him and have him get off the games for a while. I kind of like the idea using stencils I’ve seen flags but I don’t know how to do it. Lol thanks for the help.
That's great! I did this about 10 years ago charging $25 per house using multiple color paints plus an emblem of Texas lonestar flag. I stopped because I was getting beat by others charging $40 with emblems of schools and colleges and using reflective paints. Plus the Houston heat was unbearable! Good job👍
@@TymOLaughlin well texas emblem is just a cut out star painted over a painted blue or red area at the end of the numbers. What the others are using are special cut vinyl stencils made by sign companies, any logo you want. They don't cost that much to have them made plus they're small, but they last a long time. When I finished spray painting the numbers over my stencil, I touch up the gaps with a small brush so that the numbers are solid. $10 bucks a house is too cheap my friend
Lucky socks! 🔥 My girls are going to do this in our little town! 9 and 11 years old. Wish them 🍀 luck! They will be watching this video often for support and checking back for more tips. Keep posting. We appreciate you! ❤️

Also you could add security doors . They get rusted pretty quick . With a hand masker , couple drop cloths, wire brush, and three cans of rustoleum you can knock 1 out in an hour.
Good vid, thanks for sharing! I am just considering doing this around my hood and I learned a few things, if you want to share with your future viewers should you ever make another curb painting related video. 1. Most cities require a license to paint house numbers on curbs. 2. Most cities have restrictions on where the numbers can be painted in relation to the position of the house. 3. Lots of cities require a reflective paint so the numbers can be seen at night by emergency vehicles. 4. Most cities require the numbers to be a minimum of 3" tall. Anything over 3" is preferred. And lastly, you might include in your arsenals of supplies a gardening pad or knee pads. Here in Arizona the asphalt and cement get pretty darn hot as do other locations. OK that's all. Just thought I'd share what I learned today. Thanks for the vid. It was helpful!
i started this today and wasnt very lucky but i made 20 bucks which is good for me (+$5 in tips so i made $25 im gonna go out tmr and make some more) update: i made more money and was able to but some airpods so i would reccomend trying this
I have a tape paper machine just like that. They don't make those anymore. Alot of plastic cheap ones out there now. I'm a painter by trade too. Semi retired now after over 30 years of it. I'll miss it. I loved my job.
You just inspired me. Just got let go from my job after 20 years with the same company. I got into painting recently helping/working for my cousins contracting company during the Covid lockdown. Now as I sit here jobless your video popped up. Recently I repainted, compounded my mothers house. Some friends that are in the business said I had a good touch for someone that doesn’t do it on a regular. This gave me the confidence to possibly make this a new profession. I have a painting job lined up next week for a friend. Nothing big but it’s a good start. Don’t want to get in over my head. I’m sure there’s a lot to learn and the last thing I want to do is start out on a bad note.

What’s the typical time you’d have to wait for the paint to dry before you start stenciling the numbers? Do you think heat gun would help process go faster?
To stay safely on the legal side (also to increase your profit ironically), offer a complimentary service and you welcome and appreciate any donations to offset labor and material and time etc. Asides from more generous income, you stay legally a handyman hired for light painting work by the owner who gave you permission. Everybody loves free and most people are going to be generous. Of course there will be cheap assholes, but it happens. You can choose to hit up wealthier neighborhoods and take the risk but charge $50 a pop. I did that a bit and made BANK xD
I also paint address I charge 20.00 I will last for 5 years it's a good price. for the job if not 25. 30 paint has 12:02 went up Walmart in 98cpaint to is now 2.48. Plus 8cent on the dollar .
I’m only 15 and I pay my step siblings 15 an hour to knock on doors and I make around $75-$100 an hour it’s funny people always under estimate it saying “oh that’s a good way to make a little money” when in reality I’m making $200 on a school day and 5-$600 over break

I’m starting to do this, while practicing today a lot of overspray through the stencils do you have any advice for that? And also how long do you let the whit paint dry?
I did this with my son a couple years ago, and had problems with the stencils getting all sticky and covered in paint. Made it kind of messy over time. Any ideas anyone?
@GREG LARSON You can quickly blotch your stencils with a used shirt because that paint builds up. If the stencils are durable and not of a thick cardstock, you can stray it with acetone. Quickly wipe it off so it doesn't break down the stencil medium.
I respect your hussle but I learned you gotta be careful where you do this. As controlling as some HOAs are and with all the Karens out there you might wanna make sure you have permission before starting
great advice always a good ide to check with local officials at city hall and make sure this is allowed. some cities i have heard do not allow it. but with my experience most cities do. thank you for the feedback and for watching? seems you missed the code word though.... thanks again ill make an updated video
Be careful too about an angry customer for whatevr reason. 30 years ago an old man called the city just to be an A hole. They find bed me $120 and shut me downb
how long does it take to do each curb? primarily, how long do you need to wait for the white paint to dry before you apply the black paint, or more accurately, the stencil and tape?

Good job!!!..its always good to wear painters pants or shorts and high vise vest to keep the people whos door your knocking on to feel safe👍
Great tip!
I wear a dress 😂 but people feel more safe with females anyway
Good side hustle I'm 14 and saving up for my first project truck my dream is to turn it into a baja truck and I think this is the perfect way to start saving up I have old cans of paint laying around I might start soon.
Thank you for making this video. I’m a father looking to make more money during these trying times. After doing DoorDash for months I can tell you I often have a hard time finding the right homes because of the address! Going to give this a shot 🙏🏻
Good for you man !
Hows it goin son far. Any luck?
Yes! I DoorDash full time and it’s amazing and I’d hate to quit because I’m making really good right now but anyways I was driving and I had this issue….. so I created a business plan around it and wrote everything down what to buy what to expect.
Then decided to get on here to see if anyone else is doing this!!!! I love my job but I’d like to switch it up from time to time
@@dimka-ls4cx go for it lots of opportunity
@@dimka-ls4cx same lol
My son to sit at home all day, so I want to do this with him and have him get off the games for a while. I kind of like the idea using stencils I’ve seen flags but I don’t know how to do it. Lol thanks for the help.
My pleasure thx for the feedback
That's great! I did this about 10 years ago charging $25 per house using multiple color paints plus an emblem of Texas lonestar flag. I stopped because I was getting beat by others charging $40 with emblems of schools and colleges and using reflective paints. Plus the Houston heat was unbearable!
Good job👍
Thats awesome. Where did get the emblems? How many could you do before replacing stencils...
Thanks for watching
@@TymOLaughlin well texas emblem is just a cut out star painted over a painted blue or red area at the end of the numbers. What the others are using are special cut vinyl stencils made by sign companies, any logo you want. They don't cost that much to have them made plus they're small, but they last a long time.
When I finished spray painting the numbers over my stencil, I touch up the gaps with a small brush so that the numbers are solid. $10 bucks a house is too cheap my friend
Lucky socks! 🔥
My girls are going to do this in our little town! 9 and 11 years old. Wish them 🍀 luck! They will be watching this video often for support and checking back for more tips. Keep posting. We appreciate you! ❤️
This makes me so happy.. please keep me updated! So glad i could help!! 😁😁😁
I think this would be a great idea to take a kid out and do this to learn work ethic and earn their first paycheck! Especially in slower areas! Great idea and inspiration! Thanx Bro!
Facts
I agree! 👍
Lucky socks iv been thinking of doing this in my neighborhood I think I'll try it good way to get to know your neighbors too
Finally a video longer than 10 seconds. Keep up these painting videos
Thanks dude. I wasn't sure if yall liked long vids... but niw i know thanks for the support. Really means a lot thanks
good to see you back tym
I started a different channel while back. But coming back to this channel soon. I gotta plan
@tymo paints is my other channel
I go door to door and if there’s no answer I leave a flyer with the prices for each design and my phone number at the door and if they ask what it’s for I always say I’m saving up for college which is mostly true
Have the folks with the flyers. Write their house nymbe on the back abd tape it in the door or window y can see that means they want us to
Great set up, quality and so professional wow!
Lucky socks.
Lucky socks!!! I’m doing this. I need to keep busy so my anxiety stops bothering me
Dude we are same. It helps to keep moving. Stay kotivated thanks for the support
Also you could add security doors . They get rusted pretty quick . With a hand masker , couple drop cloths, wire brush, and three cans of rustoleum you can knock 1 out in an hour.
A great advice. I did this early on too!
A broke arm ain't gon stop a hustler. Tym be safe out there bro. Love the content.
Naw... it might slow me down a bit. But aint no rest for the wicked
Thank for the video. I’m looking forward to working for myself , nd Not anybody else.!!!!!!!!!!
I use an old rug. Works for me
First video of yours that I’ve seen. I really enjoyed it! You explained things so well, super appreciated.
Awesome, thank you!
i started this today and wasnt very lucky but i made 20 bucks which is good for me (+$5 in tips so i made $25 im gonna go out tmr and make some more)
update: i made more money and was able to but some airpods so i would reccomend trying this
How’s it going? Still in business?
Just get in there and do the best you can. Painting is easy if you "respect the process" and dont skimp on Prep.
Here's a Joke i like to use:
WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GOOD PAINT JOB, AND A BAD PAINT JOB........
ANSWER: 2 TO 3 DAYS
How’s it going? Any luck?
You're right, I have the vertical type curb. Here, they call it a California curb and 3" , maybe 4" would work.
Gotta respect Tym’s Hustle (Lucky Socks)
Thanks dude. Just oit here tryna live.
Hey and lucky socks I can’t wait for the new year to start curb painting because it’s too cold in the winter I hope I will make some money because I can’t have a job till I’m 16 all I wanted to say is thanks for showing me how to start curb painting
Try any of these. I made a video for 5 winter hustles here ruclips.net/video/mkwZIhJD2ZY/видео.html
Its on my other channel
Thanks My son is going to start a curb painting business and this video is just what he needed! I might add it was the hippest and coolest video we watched! I’ll make sure to get him some lucky socks too!! 😉
Hope your arm heals well!!
Any success?
Looking into this for my son. Seems like an awesome gig.
What’s the typical time you’d have to wait for the paint to dry before you start stenciling the numbers? Do you think heat gun would help process go faster?
Not long. Seriously waited maybe 3‐5 minutes
my one biggest question!! thanks!!
@@TymOLaughlin what about on colder days in the 50's?
Lucky socks !!Good video man . Good side job . Easy money if you want to get out and get it
To stay safely on the legal side (also to increase your profit ironically), offer a complimentary service and you welcome and appreciate any donations to offset labor and material and time etc.
I also paint address I charge 20.00
I will last for 5 years it's a good price. for the job if not 25. 30 paint has 12:02 went up Walmart in 98cpaint to is now 2.48. Plus 8cent on the dollar .
I’m only 15 and I pay my step siblings 15 an hour to knock on doors and I make around $75-$100 an hour it’s funny people always under estimate it saying “oh that’s a good way to make a little money” when in reality I’m making $200 on a school day and 5-$600 over break
great job dude, thats awesome that you are out there hustlin, keep up the hard work bud. thanks for stopping by. dont forget about me when your a rich business owner😀
Dude how, at first I was getting really good Business but today (sat) I went up and down multiple streets and multiple neighborhoods and only got 2 houses to say yes, I’m giving up hope
@@ihat3friday832 if this continues to be a consistent thing for the next few times maybe reconsider the side hustle but def don't give up now. rejection is just a part of the growing process
just started made back my money on materials on day 1! though i went through like 30 houses lol good luck to anyone else who tries
Heck yes , good job, keep it up!
Lucky socks! This video is so satisfying! Unfortunately I live in and apartment and I don't think they would take kindly to me painting on the curb 😅
Thanks so much. Bummer... maybe mailbox numbers would work?
😂
Lucky socks !love the free information and the advice ! Great work
I’ve painted homes for 20+ years, never painted a curb before. Mailboxes would be the closest thing to it in terms of size of job. Got to say I think it would be more profitable and quicker to roll on the white and spray the black.
What kind of roll on white paint sir?
roll on paint wont dry fast enough. time is money. waiting 1 minute for spray paint to dry vs 20 minutes for roll on is a no brainer
This definitely seems like a fun pass time as well as a decent way to make money. Glad it's something you enjoy since it actually helps people. Unlike me who just goes around looking for people's lucky socks for free
Great video dude thank for the content! This is a great idea and inspiration to get my side job hustles up, and go out and get it! Seeing the neighbor come out and ask to have his done was awesome. Something so satisfying about honest earned $$
Thanks for watching. Appreciate the feedback.
I've been thinking of doing this in my area because ive began to notice that many curb numbers are way to faded to read and some dont have any at all.
Lucky sox... Great video...GET THAT HUSTLE
Aye... thanks for the support!!🙂😀
Lucky sock!
Great video, man!
Are you still doing curbs?
Have you thought about sprinkling reflective beads on top of the white paint? It would make it bright at night and easy for 911 calls to see it
I have not. Thanks so much for the feedback... have to give it a try
Curb numbers are easily obscured by snow, leaves, or other debris.
Better to put big numbers on your house or mailbox. Cheaper too!
Hey Tym how far do you think all the supplies last. How many curbs could you do with 2 cans?
So far u have done 6 or 7 can probably do 3x that much. Goes a long way... probably even further if you do smaller rectangle...
Hope this helps
I use to sell solar door to door in Vegas and this actually gets home owners excited because they have solar people knocking their door every day so I been making more money than before
Watching this in my lucky socks and lovin your hustle bro.
🍀🧦🙏🙏
Instead of all that masking to make the white background just make a rectangle stencil. It would be way faster and waste less masking paper and tape
Brilliant.... i will need to make an update video for sure. I appreciate the feedback and positivity... thanks for the support 😁😁😁
Exactly what I thought 😂 I don't know how he manages to do it again and again.
Yep that's what I did and bought multiple stencils so I had multiple numbers for those dang triple digit addresses with the same number haha saves lots of time!
But it definitely will not be a clean crisp lone like this..
Lucky socks! Great side hustle to do in a neighborhood with curbs.
Thanks for the feedback friend. 🍀🧦
For Anyone who wants to do this 100% do it, I stated recently charging $20 and it’s easy money, I’ve only been turned down once
Dude this is awesome! Keep it up
How’s it going? Still in business?
@@kofori321 I only do it when I want a some extra money now but I have absolutely no regrets I charged $40 to do Texas flag design and people always tell me it’s a good price
lol Lucky Socks! 2 years later i'm have to wash mine though. thanks for keeping this up - thinking bout doing this next year in KC and adding a chiefs logo
Great idea. Go cheifs
I’m starting to do this, while practicing today a lot of overspray through the stencils do you have any advice for that? And also how long do you let the whit paint dry?
What spray do you use I need brown and white and does the spray paint stay
I did this with my son a couple years ago, and had problems with the stencils getting all sticky and covered in paint. Made it kind of messy over time. Any ideas anyone?
@GREG LARSON You can quickly blotch your stencils with a used shirt because that paint builds up. If the stencils are durable and not of a thick cardstock, you can stray it with acetone. Quickly wipe it off so it doesn't break down the stencil medium.
lucky socks. loving the content and will be trying this myself
hey a tip for you, instead of using that paper to go around the curb so u dont over spray, i use and old car mat and cut it up into longish rectangles
BRILLIANT IDEA. that woukd speed up the process AND save money on material
💯Painter from Albuquerque New Mexico. 👊🏼 first time subscriber great video
Thanks for the support.

Thanks for watching big dog
Lucky socks brah, starting the hustle this weekend 🤩
Update ~ have made $352 in the first 3 days of starting (16hours) roughly $22 per hour, picking the right neighborhood is key (high end middle class)
Lucky Socks. I'm going to use reflective paint for the numbers and glue on some powdered glass after for better night-time visibility. Great video.
Yesss... great idea. Love that
I respect your hussle but I learned you gotta be careful where you do this.
Those cans are about 12-15$ each now, some as low as 6.50 but not for gloss protective
how long does it take to do each curb? primarily, how long do you need to wait for the white paint to dry before you apply the black paint, or more accurately, the stencil and tape?
Lucky socks 🧦!! Thanks for all the tips!!
This video really helped thanks. Crazy socks

Great idea man. One of my guys is a 8 and 9 year old football coach. This could be an awesome fund raiser!
