How to Crochet Little Boy Hugs & Kisses Blanket

  • This blanket is a redesign of my Hugs & Kisses Baby Blanket. Many of you wrote to me saying how much you loved the texture but didn't like the chevron style. Also, many wanted a border, so this one has an interesting border added. So you can enjoy the texture of the blanket without the stress of the chevron.
    The title of Little Boy Blue Blanket was just a fun name. The colours are subjective to your own creativity and wishes.

    • @wendylcm7643
      @wendylcm7643 11 месяцев назад

      Your starting chain would be a total of 178 (6 x29 = 174, add 4 stitches at the end for 178) and your 2nd row should be 176
      So yes, looks like you are on the right track.

    The instructions I printed out for Little Boy Blue blanket by Jeanne Steinhilber says nothing about using the back loops and uses FPtr which is my question in round 4 of the border. It says 2 rows below and 2srs ahead for the first FPtr. I'm somewhat confused how to count two rows below, that's all the way past the dbl crochet and into the sc row on top of the cross over. Where do I insert my hook, in the sc row hole between stitches? Your tutorial instructions said nothing about a FPtr stitch.
    Trying to share photo of the blanket without success.

    • @wendylcm7643
      @wendylcm7643 11 месяцев назад

      You won’t be able to share a photo here on RUclips, it is set up for the safety of the community.
      For your question, I am trying to make sure I understand so I can help.
      The video help for the border round #4 starts at the min marker 23:01, where he is going over the diagram.
      I am not sure I understand what you mean by “that’s all the way past the dbl crochet”.
      Rnds 1, 2, 3 of the border are all single crochet. So your trebles shouldn’t be going into doubles
      The FPTR are worked around the single crochets stitches in round two.
      Hope that helps

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  2 года назад +1

      Sarah. In the video description is the link to the free pattern. The free pattern includes a crochet diagram where you can see the stitch counts and what stitches equal each other. That should clarify this question. Ch 3 counts as.the first dc. For the Ch 1 for Single Crochet, that's not a stitch.

    Why do we see knots in the caron big cakes? The whole point of using the big skein of yarn is so we don't have to change yarn and weave in ends. Nobody wants a square knot in the middle of their project. What gives?

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  3 года назад +2

      Yarn making isn't a solid strand as there is only so much room in an industrial cone that holds the yarn as it's being made. During the balling process, one cone may just to another to keep the machine running. If you have at least one knot, then it means the jump from the one cone to the other has happened. If there is more than one, it means the yarn snapped during winding and was tied together. This is a video of Yarnspirations Factory in the production of yarn. It may give you perspective. ruclips.net/video/9pyMh0Ll-8k/видео.html
      Usually crocheters cut the knot out, pretend it's a new strand of yarn and attach according so there is no knot that appears. It's a technique that comes in handy. If Yarnspirations were to throw out all balls that had a knot, the landfill would be significant. Yarn, due to being fiber, can break and instead of tossing yarn into the garbage, they tie it so it produces less waste and also keeps the costs down.
      You may disagree but it's the reality behind the scenes.

      @@TheCrochetCrowd thanks for the explanation. I'm really just learning about the yarn making process.
