  • The headband is just enough to keep your ears warm for those like me that don't particularly like wearing a hat. This project is also a great item to make for selling at craft fairs. I only used just a bit over 1 oz of yarn. So a Caron One Pound ball should give you 14 or 15 headbands.

    I very much appreciate the care with which you do these videos, as you usually show us beginners more closely and at a more relaxed pace. As a suggestion for this video, it would have been more helpful if you would have shown us exactly where to crochet into the top of the popcorn... it's confusing for a beginner. You just whipped right through as if we all knew what we were doing. If I knew how to do this, I could have just followed the written pattern. Anyway, thank you for normally being so patient and for helping us out with your videos. I'm sure many of us (myself included) would have given up long ago but we're still at it, thanks to you.

    Hi, Mikey... I've just learned to crochet and I must say, your tutorials are THE BEST. A gal at the Hobby Lobby turned me on to your Channel and I'm so glad she did. So far, I've only made a few hats: a beanie, a sort-of-slouchy, one with flaps, etc. I might branch out to scarves soon, but I'm really kind of a hat person at heart. That said, I've tried to incorporate this headband into a full hat and it worked out pretty well. I'm now trying another hat working from the top down and am going to sort of do the same pattern. I'm pretty much winging it, but I think as long as I'm doing the stiches properly I'll probably be okay. Thanks for all the great tutorials and for giving us newbies the validation we need that even though it might not be perfect, it's still beautiful.

    Since so many people are complaining about the video being too fast I just really wanted to say, I am so glad it’s fast! I am not a beginner and sooo many tutorial videos go at absolute snail speed and it drives me crazy. Even for the more experienced patterns. So it’s really nice to have an easy to follow tutorial to make something nice without having to sit through explanations of stitches over and over and over. Anyway, so thanks. Great video.

    • @AmyAnnLand

      Most experienced crocheters I know despise watching videos and prefer patterns instead. So I assumed videos are more for beginners since those with experience can simply use the pattern or a diagram. It might also be why most videos are tailored for beginners. They need to see where to put the stitches. Anyways, just my two cents on why so many crochet videos are slow and with repetitive explanations.

    • @YourMom-wd5wq
      @YourMom-wd5wq Год назад

      @@AmyAnnLand Yes, I understand that, and usually I don’t care to watch videos for patterns myself because of the above mentioned. But sometimes I’d see something cute I’d want to make on a video that I couldn’t find a written pattern for. It took me longer than I like to admit to realize that a lot of people link the written pattern on their videos hahaha. At the time of this video I still didn’t know that and liked this and wanted to work something up quickly and this video helped with that, hence the comment.

    I have made several of these and love making them with different colors. I used an I hook for the beginning chain then switched back to the H for the rest of the pattern and that worked perfect. The width on mine ended up to be 5” instead of 4” wide as stated in the written pattern. I’m gonna try with a G hook for the body and see if that will make a difference in the width. The foundation chain side was too tight, there was no give. I made a second one and used a full size bigger hook for the chain row then back to the smaller for the rest. Still found that row to be too rigid. I went looking and thing I will try the next one using FSC for my starting row, to see if I can get the flexibility along that side. Otherwise I love the pattern.💕

    Several years ago, I made a couple of the "ear warmers" and had no trouble, as far as I remember. I started making them again last month and had a lot of trouble making the first row single crochet to stay straight. I eventually got that going. However, I just started another one two days ago and I have ripped that thing three times already. I can't seem to figure out how to connect the chain without it turning somewhere. It looks fine when I first connect but then, when I finish the first row, it is twisted already. HELP! I love the design over any other I have watched and downloaded instructions on.

      I don't think he skipped any. You should have 60 stitches in each row. To do the criss-cross you just skip one stitch, then go back to it to make an X. And the popcorn stitch is the O, so it's X's and O's, or hugs and kisses.

      I know you asked 2 weeks ago but I hope this helps. Do you have 2 hdc between each popcorn?

      I was following the video and ended up having more pc st because I didn't notice there's supposed to be 2 hdc in between pc. Lol oops. Still looks cool though.

    • @samanthaavenant6725
      @samanthaavenant6725 5 лет назад

      I also ended up with 29 popcorns. It is quite confusing because the written pattern says, 1hdc 1 popcorn, I did it that way, ended up with 29 pc. Then I frogged it and did 1pc 2hdc and ended up with 21 popcorns lol so I left it as 21, and it and the end result still came out exactly like it should.

      Jeanne has designed this as afghans... so you can get the length you need from that and it goes back and forth verses this one being a continuous round.

      @Rebecca McNulty, #RebeccaMcNulty if you hit the little icon for settings for the video, there are different speeds, which for me, is better than to keep going back. For a little fun, put it at the slowest speed... And when you hear Mikey talk, be sounds completely wasted.. it's hilarious (sorry Mikey, but it's funny for really anyone talking.) Anyway Rebecca, try the different speeds to see which one is right for you. 💛

      It's pretty easy each round / row whichever you prefer is done in the completion of a stitch in its entirety all the WAY around. R1. CH R2. Dc R3. Sc R4. Criss Cross Stitches R5. Sc R6. Popcorn, HDC, Popcorn, HDC repeat R7. Sc and THEN you're just going to mirror the stitches you've already done previously. Sc inbetween the criss cross stitches and so on and so forth. Hope that helpes!!

      You can slow down the speed of the tutorial by changing the settings on your RUclips Player. It's impossible for me to find the right speed as people tell me to speed up, slow down and etc. I cannot get it right. However, you can change the speed of the tutorial on your player. Hopefully that helps you.

Thanks Jeanne and Mikey! 😍
