  • I finally figured it out! How to pull off a crochet camel stitch headband with a turban criss-cross front, crocheting in the round! Now, I had to use a couple tricks to pull this off so thank goodness for video tutorials! Not the most conventional crochet headband pattern ever, but boy is it purdy.
    I hope you enjoyed this crochet tutorial. And if you'd like to get a printable, written copy of this pattern with 4 more size instructions, you can pick that up on my blog for $3 here: thesnugglery.net/product/twis...

    A little tip for anyone who comes across this pattern!
    When hdc on your foundation chain, instead of going into the chain like she did, turn the chain, and go into the loop on the back side of the chain. If you do this, when you stitch your headband together at 5:50, you won’t have to go back in and do surface stitches, because there won’t be any gapping. It won’t even look like the foundation chains were ever there!
    Found this out on accident, since that’s how I always crochet my foundation chain lol. Loved this pattern so much! I’ve had it saved for a while, and finally worked it up myself.

    😮wow, quite a brain twister for you to devise this trick. How about making a chain, crochet the 1st row, and simply twist the work when joining both ends? And just keep crocheting aroubd until we have enough rows. Then end with a single crochet abd a slip stitch as last. Just like we do for the twisted neck wraps.

  • @Allyssa_Grace

    Thank you for the pattern! One change I did make was to do a foundation HDC instead of the initial HDC and chain rows. This makes it so there is less clean up at the end.

    Wow, you did a wonderful job! Like you, I knit and crochet (and weave), I watched the knitted version and this crochet version seems like it is a bit more time consuming/work, but, with the way you showed how to surface crochet the stitches, it looks so "complete" and professional, I really like it! When I am feeling up to it, I'll give both versions a try! Thank you again for making and sharing these very detailed and thorough videos and pattern! Great job..

      @Shaoqui Li - ??? So, she had 10 rounds (both unfinished headbands were 5 rounds - so just do 5 rows 'leave a hole in the middle and twist it, then finish off 5 more rows??) ... I typed all that without even imagining how it would be done - can you correct my 'vision' please?

    Hi Michelle! Thanks for the video! Just a question - so you leave the twisted sections unattached to each other? Is there a reason you don’t weave these together to secure them? Thank you in advance :)

    • @TheSnugglery
      @TheSnugglery  3 года назад +1

      Right, I didn't feel the need to secure them. I have a knitted headband pattern that I always did the same way so I didn't even think about it! You could seam them down if you'd like

    • @TheSnugglery
      @TheSnugglery  3 года назад +2

      Everyone's tension is a little different. The surest way to check the fit is to make sure the starting chains fit comfortably around your head before joining in the round. Use that measurement rather than the stitch counts in the pattern. Just be sure to add your extra stitches evenly to the cris-cross stitch counts.
