I wonder why I haven't seen videos taking about pop coral farms. Yeah there isn't really any avoiding manual labor with it ( at least as far as I know) but it has the chance of giving you organic researchable that give between 200-1000 bytes each, easily getting you through early game research.
I built an air farm so that I could pop them from underneath, accidental bonus I could harvest the large collectibles from underneath without terraining. 2x Research Chambers with the large platform with the doubles on each side could hold the next 6 big bits to have them auto fund me while I just fkd around with the dirt. Since there are more seeds than the plant they come from the farm got so big I had a pile of 40 in no time and would just toss in 6 every time I came home.
Auto byte collector...a platform an auto arm a med storage a proximity repeater and a storage sensor. Set it up on some of the cave rocks & when the storage gets full the proximity repeater will click them all at once.
Something verry usefull I lerne that you should allways get one thing at a time but loads of it. Not just what you need at that time. This way ist much more time efficient.
Before you have vehicles, craft a medium storage, dont unpack it, get resources, unpack the storage, carry the filled storage home in your hands = double your inventory. Minmax this by carrying an entire plattform with storages with you.

9:00 I feel like the trains invalidate this because you Just build a track and do your rounds and have so much shit. I just drilled down tho the core and got astronium and all the other stuff on my way down there in Like 3 hours without leaving the Planet once.
I've just started playing Astroneer but I solved my byte issues by planting a lot of seeds on the surface from the plants in the caves. When they grow up I get a ton of big research samples and having 3 research labs running all the time. Each research lab is on a Big platform B (the one with two wings). This way each Lab has a queue of 2 big research samples waiting to be picked up when I'm away. It might be that this is possible only because of some recent patch, like I said I just started playing but that is the way to go I think.
You can also research gas in the atmosphere. In later game I had a farm where on glacio and atmospheric condenser produces argon and 3 research chambers continuously doing research. I was able to unlock every single thing within a day of playing and had so many bytes left.

Or a delay repeater set at 25 and a proximity repeater now

You can research gas, you can get one unit of methane gas, and you can research it and get a good amount per minute
