New player type: dirt maniac. He has a soil-based farm to produce literally anything, rarely explores and has a large rover with two drills and a ton of medium soil canisters.
I'd probably add a category called "the old-timer" because for me at least, all of my exploration and mining methods are pretty outdated and I never automate things because I like doing what I know works (and I'm afraid of an auto arm putting hydrogen in my smelter). I've been playing since alpha when they had the sandstorms, so I'm still trying to catch up with everything new the devs add.
Id say im a colonialist because my favorite thing to to is set up small to medium bases on all the planets and then focus all my effort on my main giant base i also just like starting fresh
I am personally a mix between the automation dude, explorer, and Miner. I just like having stockpiles of resources and huge storages funded by auto arms and to explore the unique maps and cave systems in which I use auto extractors to gather rare resources
I am an explorer, but I'm also a scrapper. A scrapper has 2 or 3 large rovers connected together with an extra large shredder in the middle, and power on the front, storage on the back. The scrapper shreds everything in sight and uses the trade platform for resources they don't want to go physically collect.
I'd add to this/mention the rover also has a paver/drill on the front so the he can get to any location that scrap might be dropped with minimal "get out and check" issues. I've spent entire months just driving around planets to clean them up while listening to audio books haha.
I'm definitely an automation maniac, as well as a little bit of a serial hoarder. I have factories for every resource in the game, and i like to keep all the fun things i pick up while exploring. I also definitely have an explorers' backpack, with worklight, jetpack, portable oxygenator, hoverboard, drill mod, canisters, and QT-RTGs. leaves me barely any room for resource collecting.
I think I'm the Tether'er as i like to explore on foot and drag out lines of Tethers to every major waypoint on my Radar, yes its a long and slow grind but I'm doing Planets in the order they are listed, so i dont have access to the resources to make a mobile oxigenator yet...
I would say I'm something like a "Relaxed enjoyer" I keep my base simple yet functional, I love getting different vehicles but I'm not the one to automate stuff or go mining all the time, I love seeing what stuff I can find but I Also have a permanent base, I really just enjoy the game as much as I can

I want my surface and caves to be clean of all trash. The garbage man? Yes, the garbage man can!

I have another type for you. The stay at home mom, always plays with friends but rarely leaves the base, they always spend their time doing chemistry, research, power management, trading, anything that improves the base without them having to leave.
i feel like there should be another category similar to byter but instead of wanting to get bytes its getting an unreasonable amount of power where your base might not need it but you always make more rtgs for the higher power count. I would always have automation for pretty much everything and i would use that automation for the creation of rtgs to get an even bigger power count
CHALLENGER!! I know too much. Me and my astronomer counterpart have done unheard of things even by todays standing in the game excited to check the latest update haven’t been round the system in a while
I'm a combo of Miner and Explorer. I have a functional base at every gate on every planet/moon, complete with a rover, home shelter, and a mine with air trail to resources within.
I'm what might be known as a "rescource freak" (or loot goblin if we're talking any game with loot) which is similar to the hoarder in a way. I can't play on a natural adventure because there isnt enough rescources (not the collectables) and I live exploring just to keep harvesting for my massive base and storage. c:

I’m an Auto Maniac/Hoarder! I have a large storage canister for each resource and a secondary storage area for various items, but also an automation system that goes from the each auto extractor back to my base, through the smelting process, and then back to my storage area…. And I have enough hydrazine to last me through 5 different play throughs. Not because I think I’m going to need it, but just because I can’t stop making it!

Definitely an explorer, my automated Nano Carbon alloy factory is just an excuse to actually have an automated hydrazine farm, that keeps our shuttles, jet packs and VTOLs always with plenty of fuel :)

The Old Schooler: Played the game a bunch in alpha or beta (or whatever, can't recall), let the game sit for a looooong time. Go on with life. Inevetably comes back to the charms of the game. Is stunned/amazed/confused by the amounts of changes. What, automation? Where are the Storms? Where is the oxygen in the walls? DId you say TRAAAINS???? Rediscovering the game as someone who just bought it :)
the cheeser. you see him drilling non existing dirt at a gate portal with an excavator for hours without moving during the night. automation processes the dirt into resin, converts it into canisters, shreds them and send them to space for all sort of ressources.
ehm, i am in the flatter i ALWAYS do this to the area around my base(not for far after my base tho) like there is nothing i hate more than needing to move the camera up and down for my buildings i want them all next to my rocket on the flattest train possible, i always land in the nearest landing pad from the portal but i dont go there i just want to be close to it, also i never made a leveling block cuz i thought its a 1time use so thanks for showing me, its leveling time i will no longer have to dig and rise the ground for the perfect angle i am also a redstone "engineer" in minecraft so maybe if i understood a bit more i will be both Automator and an engineer
I started as an explorer, then a miner, then became a true flatter because I wanted to be an auto maniac with the purpose to build enough dynamite to end the game as a bomber.
I'm a "Train Operator" ever since the rails update I've used only trains and rails for transport. After a couple weeks, I've got a transplant rail road lol
Explorer for sure. I'm trying as hard as I can to not use the soil centrifuge/trade platform, so that I go looking and traveling for the resources I need. Except for clay. Oh and hoarder haha.
I am easily an explorer, my favourite things to do in this game is drive around on my buggy and build a fully functioning base on every planet although, being a byter is also fun
Looks like you missed the group I'm a art of. The casual hermit. Just 1 base on every planet and instead of going out I just use soil to collect my resources, including having a 2 platform setup that converts soil into resin into canisters into scrap. The only reasons I even go to different planets is to activate the engines and to collect atmospheric resources. Oh, and a rover? You mean my soil collector, right? Because other than reaching the core, that is all I do with it. Just shave of the top layer of the planet and I have my soil canisters filled up in just a few minutes.
I’m definitely a automation guy and another two things you could add is the colonizer who has a base on every planet but doesn’t go anywhere else, The “can you help me?” Guy who is allwase dieing and losing things like hydrazine jump jets, portable oxygenators and QRTGs
The Soil Centrifugee. Has Rovers with silos full of soil canisters and has massive farms of Soil Centrifuges so that they never need to dig out Compound, Resin, Organic, Clay, Quartz, Ammonium or Graphite ever again.
I'd consider myself "the-baser" as, I never go to a new planet without the materials to create a base. I always bring atleast the following items: 1 oxygenator, 1 power item, 1 small printer 2 compound, 2 resin, and 1 small platform Why those items? Idk, just feels right
i’m the “i have no idea what i’m doing, i just think the snails are cute” player, i always have seeds of some kind on me, and i’m always staring off into space because i don’t know what to do next
I honestly didn't think I was any of these at first but the more I think about it, I realize I'm an explorer. I have a small base on every planet with plants to feed Princess, Rogal, Bestefar and Enoki who I keep on me at all times, and I can't go anywhere without a portable oxygenator and a hoverboard
ok I am a miner/hoarder. I have 4 rovers on Sylvia alone for 3 different purpose and one is automated storage purpose. Most of my time is spent underground looking for titanium and lithium. And already have a plan to show case about every damn thing i have come across in the game.

I'd consider myself the 'perfect base' builder. I like to organize my base and have it be clean and coherent. As such, I am not the engineer type. I don't want repeater pins all over the place. I only have 3 areas of automation, and they fit nicely within my base layout. I always like t9 think of ways I can better improve this layout, and have changed it many times.
I consider myself the explorer type player, before the hover board and vtol came out I would use a tractor and load it with beacons to mark points of interest around the planet so I can come back later, I got lost because of all the beacons
I think i'm a mix of the true flatter, Automation Maniac, miner and biter, also i consider myself "farmer" because I have an automatic farm to obtain bytes

I like most things about the game so I just do a bit of everything really! I never got the hoverboard last time so I will be working towards that mainly.

I'm a mixture of 40% Automation Maniac and 60% Engineer. I also run the no-digging challenge almost all the time because I enjoy it a lot. You wouldn't believe what incredible things I've found while running this challenge.

I consider myself a gardener my wife and I built a large garden at our place and plants and different items from all planets to decorate it at our home base . It’s a never ending task
when you said "the explorer" I found it a bit funny since I always use my rocket at least 4 times in a 30 min game session though I'd prob say I'm both this and the hoarder but I never have more than 1 save sadly unless it's to find out some stuff in creative
I’m the type of player that doesn’t do anything unless it’s digging straight to the core upon creating a world in multiplayer, and then dies immediately
I’m still too new to the game so- so far I seem to be leaning towards hoarding or mining but I like keeping the camera far from my face and I haven’t figured out how most gadgets and machines work so I’m just shoveling dirt and hoarding the terrain itself, thinking about hollowing out a planet and keeping the dirt somewhere in case I need it. Maybe I could build a tower to space! Who knows! I sure don’t! Heck, I’ve been trying to avoid spoilers and only clicked on this video cuz it seems relatively spoiler free for where I’m at! Great video by the way, only gripe is how every type listed is someone who has spent weeks in the game already. Meanwhile I am just now starting to test the radius of various plants and slowly letting myself stand next to a popcoral (not when digging it though, the explosion is violent and scary ;-;) fun fact when I read that the white mushroom shoots spikes I thought it was a ranged attack and was very surprised when it didn’t hurt at all when on a wall I planted them on because the spikes are only underneath it for some reason I think?? I dunno, very interesting to watch you jump on one in the video with no repercussions! Scared to try it myself still
Miner for sure but I am slower so I only have one rover that's linked with more carts. And all the stuff I need goes down at once. I even built most of my base down near the core of sylva 😂

Here's a tip. Dont put your auto arm next to your atmosphere condenser and your smelter at the same time.

ehm, i am in the flatter i ALWAYS do this to the area around my base(not for far after my base tho) like there is nothing i hate more than needing to move the camera up and down for my buildings i want them all next to my rocket on the flattest train possible, i always land in the nearest landing pad from the portal but i dont go there i just want to be close to it, also i never made a leveling block cuz i thought its a 1time use so thanks for showing me, its leveling time i will no longer have to dig and rise the ground for the perfect angle
i am also a redstone "engineer" in minecraft so maybe if i understood a bit more i will be both Automator and an engineer

I started as an explorer, then a miner, then became a true flatter because I wanted to be an auto maniac with the purpose to build enough dynamite to end the game as a bomber.

Explorer for sure. I'm trying as hard as I can to not use the soil centrifuge/trade platform, so that I go looking and traveling for the resources I need. Except for clay. Oh and hoarder haha.

Looks like you missed the group I'm a art of. The casual hermit. Just 1 base on every planet and instead of going out I just use soil to collect my resources, including having a 2 platform setup that converts soil into resin into canisters into scrap. The only reasons I even go to different planets is to activate the engines and to collect atmospheric resources. Oh, and a rover? You mean my soil collector, right? Because other than reaching the core, that is all I do with it. Just shave of the top layer of the planet and I have my soil canisters filled up in just a few minutes.
I would say I'm an exploring automan. I explore to get things then use them to have a low level automation system. I love ❤️ that hoverboard

I'd consider myself "the-baser" as, I never go to a new planet without the materials to create a base. I always bring atleast the following items: 1 oxygenator, 1 power item, 1 small printer 2 compound, 2 resin, and 1 small platform

I honestly didn't think I was any of these at first but the more I think about it, I realize I'm an explorer. I have a small base on every planet with plants to feed Princess, Rogal, Bestefar and Enoki who I keep on me at all times, and I can't go anywhere without a portable oxygenator and a hoverboard

ok I am a miner/hoarder. I have 4 rovers on Sylvia alone for 3 different purpose and one is automated storage purpose. Most of my time is spent underground looking for titanium and lithium. And already have a plan to show case about every damn thing i have come across in the game.

I'd consider myself the 'perfect base' builder. I like to organize my base and have it be clean and coherent. As such, I am not the engineer type. I don't want repeater pins all over the place. I only have 3 areas of automation, and they fit nicely within my base layout. I always like t9 think of ways I can better improve this layout, and have changed it many times.
I am a missionista. I do just what is required to complete the missions. Only expanding, organizing or mining when necessary

I consider myself the explorer type player, before the hover board and vtol came out I would use a tractor and load it with beacons to mark points of interest around the planet so I can come back later, I got lost because of all the beacons

I like most things about the game so I just do a bit of everything really! I never got the hoverboard last time so I will be working towards that mainly.

I'm a mixture of 40% Automation Maniac and 60% Engineer. I also run the no-digging challenge almost all the time because I enjoy it a lot. You wouldn't believe what incredible things I've found while running this challenge.
I'm still tempted to do the no digging challenge, but I'm afraid lol

I’m still too new to the game so- so far I seem to be leaning towards hoarding or mining but I like keeping the camera far from my face and I haven’t figured out how most gadgets and machines work so I’m just shoveling dirt and hoarding the terrain itself, thinking about hollowing out a planet and keeping the dirt somewhere in case I need it. Maybe I could build a tower to space! Who knows! I sure don’t!
Heck, I’ve been trying to avoid spoilers and only clicked on this video cuz it seems relatively spoiler free for where I’m at! Great video by the way, only gripe is how every type listed is someone who has spent weeks in the game already. Meanwhile I am just now starting to test the radius of various plants and slowly letting myself stand next to a popcoral (not when digging it though, the explosion is violent and scary ;-;) fun fact when I read that the white mushroom shoots spikes I thought it was a ranged attack and was very surprised when it didn’t hurt at all when on a wall I planted them on because the spikes are only underneath it for some reason I think?? I dunno, very interesting to watch you jump on one in the video with no repercussions! Scared to try it myself still

Miner for sure but I am slower so I only have one rover that's linked with more carts. And all the stuff I need goes down at once. I even built most of my base down near the core of sylva 😂
