Straight cut gears are alot louder than the normal helical cut gears you find in normal, everyday cars due to the teeth on the gear meshing together, hence the whining sound. straight cut gears are alot stronger and more efficient than helical cut gears however; which is why you can find them in many serious motocross applications, like track, rally, drag, pretty much everything that is intended for serious use. straight cut gears are also usually paired with sequential transmissions (unlike the normal H-pattern shifters you find in everyday cars), where you can shift the car without needing to use the clutch. to be able to shift without needing to use the clutch to shift makes shifting nearly instantaneous. the only downside to using straight cut gears is that they are extremely loud. AND if you pair straight cut gears with a sequential transmission, you can only shift in ascending order, for example: you can only shift from 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, 4-5 etc whereas a normal H-pattern transmission can shift from any gear of their choosing, like from 1-5, or 5-1 (although I wouldnt recommend shifting from 5-1 because you will blow your engine up from overrevving :D)

i am running 580hp through r33 5 speed with straight cut PPG dog gears 1 , 2 , 3 only 4th is helicoil dog, and 5th is stock , cruising around 4th 5th no noise , yet still smash it off the light ,rip it through gears with out it breaking ,
A friend of mine owned this at one point,dont know if this is before or after..He owns now a endless r34 gtr demo car and the famous top secret gt300 supra with the 3sgte engine..will be doing a feat on both cars on my channel in the future

A few years ago, I drove this car in Japan. Straight cut mission, tight suspension,big turbo sound,full race specification.
